What is this brown intrusion upon my plant? And how do I obliterate it?

Another question?! Anyway, what the hell is this browning? I think it's light burn. But why is it lower too? PH? Magnesium? Nitrogen toxicity? Par: 1300 PPFD Fox Farm tiger bloom 7 ml/gal. Fish Shit 3 ml/gal. See diary for environmental conditions. Thanks for the help. Again.

That is helpful @Prilyfe13. I think we can definitely narrow it down to two things - a lack of Calcium (which matches your description of brown dots progressively getting worse and becoming more blocky), and possible light burn. If the issue is only affecting the very top of the plant nearest the light, then I believe you may have hit the nail on the head with light burn. Looking at your photo dated 19th March, the issue wasn't present in it's current form then, but I can see the sides of the leaves starting to curl up. This is THE classic light burn symptom. It begins on the sides of the leaves (rather than the tips, like nutrient burn) and then progresses inwards. But, you've obviously described a classic calcium deficiency as well, as I said... so perhaps it's six of one and half-dozen of the other! When it comes to living soil, I am certainly no expert, but my understanding is that you don't generally need to add too much in the way of nutrients as this is mostly in the soil already. Hopefully someone with more experience than me in this field will be able to help you... That said, if you don't get any more expert advice, I would probably err on the side of caution and raise/dim the lights (as you have done) and then maybe incorporate some Cal-Mag into the next few feeds, just to be sure it's getting enough. I don't think I've ever seen calcium or magnesium toxicity myself, so if you're using the small recommended doses, I can't see that it would cause any harm even if it doesn't need it. RE: Fish shit - I don't think this is the cause. So long as you're only using the recommended dosages, it should be fine. RE: an equipment list - don't even get us started or it will never end lol. All you technically need is air, water, soil and the sun... that doesn't explain why my spare room looks like the inside of Area 51's weapons testing facility. 😂 PH and TDS/EC meters are great, but I managed to grow successfully for years without them - particularly growing in soil which is much more forgiving. Its the same with basically every growing accessory I own. The main thing, to me, is managing the growing environment: keeping humidity high in veg and low in flower, keeping temps in the ideal range in the day and at night, etc. Those are the hardest things to do as you might be fighting against building itself, weather and geography etc, which are not battles that can be easily won. In future, if you want to keep your plants smaller and spread out the canopy more to avoid light burn and increase the PPFD or what would otherwise be lower branches, I would recommend that you start practicing LST or SCROG'ing, but that's more a technique than an accessory - other than the plant ties you'll need to make LST'ing easy. 😁 Good luck!

So the light is down to 60%, but the lower part of the plant is starting to change much faster. It's only around the tops. Has to be a calcium thingy. I ordered some for today. How would I know if it's working or not? Thanks!

la carenza di calcio puo essere causata da una traspirazione fogliare limitata (es. Uso di luci al LED)

Thanks for all offering answers so far. I should have clarified that I'm only running Tiger Bloom on this lady. It's the other one getting advanced nutrients. So no worries there. I should have also mentioned I'm running Sohum living soil. Don't know if that makes a difference, but I assume it does. Soil PH is always at 6.3 with it, so I dunno. Also, would the Fish Shit be a cause? It's a conditioner, so I'm not sure either. You can take a look at the pictures of the daily progression of the top for the whole grow. I have a pic of the top and side for every day on both plants. It started about 8 days ago from what I can see in my pics. It started out with dots of brown. I did the rub test for fungus. Nope. Then they started getting blocky and then covering the top leaves. Not the edges or tips. Then it started to spread a bit to a few fan leaves but is only dots. now as the photo shows, the top leaves are all brown and yellow. Oh and it absolutely shows through the bottom of the leaves. However, I do have some purple leaves cjng in with still green bottoms. The light is absolutely too bright for the top. I just dropped it to 60% from 70% however, that PPFD is only at the top of the main cola. The rest of the plant runs a DLI of 45. So whatever that is in ppfd. Something like 600 or whatever. As for deficiency stuff. I'm not experienced enough to know what any of it is. This is a first for me. What equipment do I need to cover all bases? I have a par meter. Just got my pH pen 5 minutes ago... Seriously. Lol. Do I need a TDS meter? Some sort of flushing agent to bypass the soil? 🧐 I also have a soil pH meter. I hope I am helping some. Thanks again all!

@UnkleSkunk - I think you may be right. I'm at home now looking at this photo on my computer and it does look like it might be calcium deficiency more than any of the other things we've mentioned so far. Always much easier looking at these photos when you're on a screen 10 times as big! 😁

This is a difficult one. @UnkleSkunk - I can understand why @growinggrannie thinks it might be phosphorus, just from the look of the leaves. Phosphorus often leaves brown blocky patches on the leaves - like they've dried out or something - just like this. I think I'd agree with you that he's feeding enough phosphorus already though, so I don't think that's the direct cause, more a symptom. In a mag deficiency (at least earlier on) I would usually expect some loss of colour between the veins etc, but in a bit more of a uniform way than the patchy blocks seen here. Of course, we could be well past that stage in these photos, so this is also plausible. With all of that said, I don't think it's clear from the photos what exactly the issue is, but it could be a combination of lots of little things leading to a nutrient lock out. OP also states that the plant is receiving >1300 ppfd, which for my book is way too much for any plant without the use of supplemental CO2. Anything above 1000 ppfd requires CO2 IMO, otherwise it's wasted energy, or at worst, burnt plant. I'm not saying it's definitely this either, but going on the info provided, it is definitely plausible. Light damage would usually start from the edges of the leaves and move inwards. Your flowers would also go hard and dry at the top. @prilyfe13 have you noticed in what way it progressed to this stage?

It's not calcium - that shows up MUCH earlier and on fan leaves, it's not septoria - that's just NOT... what you've got is a strong phosphorus deficiency working here.... First of all, it's not generally a good thing to combine different nute lines - so I'd get rid of that Tiger Bloom. You should also have cut down the grow nutes to almost non-existent when she started to go into flower. But at this point in the grow, it might not be anything you want to do about it because flushing your plant right now might be counterproductive. For your next grow, what I like to do when I grow in soil (which I never will ever again!) is to top dress 1 tablespoon of Langbeinite 0-0-22 once a month... it's fairly difficult to dissolve and doing it this way is a marvelous way of "slow release" to get pure phosphorus into your grow (beneficial at all stages!). Good luck..

Looks like calmag deficiency, could be due to underfeeding or lockout. Although, you're halfway through flower though so don't be surprised if you start seeing more signs of senescence (plant death). I've had some strains that look great until the day they're chopped in the same tent with strains that look like they've gone through hell by week 6, just depends on genetics and environment.
