that yellowing is not overwatering.. tho depending on your habits you may be also overwatering? tht is an N-deficiency. you need to raise N a bit. step up slowly, it's much easier to add than take away. basic watering sop for soil- wet entire pot. you don't want dry pockets. a little runoff is fine. Wait for top 1" to dry and re-irrigate in same fashion.. that's it... i'd suggest more than 30% perlite or similar with soil. improved drainage quality and ahappier rootzone will result in faster growth -- this is reaserch backed and not some anecdotal hypothesis originating form some random person's basement or garage grow. if they don't fill in after raising n .. i'd let the plant shed those leaves on its own... or at least at the point it takes virtually no force to remove them. let the plant suck them down. dead spots won't heal, but yellow can turn green again. increase component tht affects N the most while impating other parts of feed the least... trial and error. take notes... start at better place next time.

Leaves store nutrients so I wouldn't cut them yet even though they are yellow. You can cut them when the new leaves ate bigger or when they get mostly covered by other leaves
