Their fun to do for bragging rights but the effort is not worth the investment IMO.
Yields are small
You invest a lot of time into a small single plant
If you're not doing a whole slew of them its a waste of space in the grow tent and lighting cost/energy.
Inefficient cost per seed/harvest ratio, clones makes work better if you take them yourself but to purchase seems dumb.
All that being said, I one day will probably do one of them as I am curious, but I don't see myself aiming for that anytime soon, more of a back burner thing.

I have done several solo cups, and even a beer bottle. These are very demanding grows, and will test your abilities growing in a limited space.
