the rain definitely increased percentage.
you can't 100% avoid it outside. spores are in the air. all you can do is reduce risk. A canopy that allows light in but not rain would help. not much you can do about excessive humidity outside, though.
Consider the timing of when you plant, the intensity of sun and any humid seasons. Planting at a different time may allow you to avoid a lot of the risk, as long as you don't sacrifice too much, of course.
you see a spot, cut around it generously. carefully remove... pray.. by the time you see it, it's already reproducing though.
