How to prevent outdoor bud rot in the future?

I had bud rot on most of my outdoor autoflowers. I think of two reasons: Caterpillars on my plants and there was 2-3 times of heavy shower rain within 10 days. It happened in the middle of the flowering stage. What to do in order to prevent it in the future?

Make a roof would be the first thing i would do. I would use a good mold resistant strain. I would open up canopy so wind can pass true well. I would also avoid big tops i think more smaller ones are less prone to rot. This is why i started to grow autoflowers i feel your pain, my problem was always later in the season with allot of rain and high humidity and no sun.

the rain definitely increased percentage. you can't 100% avoid it outside. spores are in the air. all you can do is reduce risk. A canopy that allows light in but not rain would help. not much you can do about excessive humidity outside, though. Consider the timing of when you plant, the intensity of sun and any humid seasons. Planting at a different time may allow you to avoid a lot of the risk, as long as you don't sacrifice too much, of course. you see a spot, cut around it generously. carefully remove... pray.. by the time you see it, it's already reproducing though.
