Black Residue Appearing on Flowers

phat_mikestarted grow question 2y ago
Plants are early in flower, situated outside in SE Michigan. I just noticed this one day before leaving for a 2 week vacation. Black residue appearing somewhat overnight in new flower growth. Any ideas what this is? At first I thought black mold, but may be viral?

No it absolutely is something to worry about dude. I’m in SEMI also and this is something I have not been able to identify exactly what it is but believe it’s caused from moisture or something. I’ve noticed it on several plants in my years growing outdoor. Some this year as well. It spreads. It eventually causes necrosis. Never seen it indoor in my extensive experience growing indoor. What I do is just nip those growths off. Seems to work. It’s always around august it seems too.

I don't think this looks like plant pigmentation to me. I could be wrong though. I normally find the purple strains go purple from the centre out and do it consistently and evenly this one is splatted and not even all sites. Check you medium, make sure its not compacted or water logged. also make note of your PH as this kinda reminds me of something like a PH swing and compacted roots. Good Luck!
