Should I defoliate? Is it too late to defoliate (Autoflower)?I want to use photosynthesis from leaves as much as possible, but worry light will not penetrate to hidden buds. Will buds in shadow still develop but at slower rate - or will they be airy, popcorn buds at harvest?

Buds. Not fattening
Leaves. Too many

even if you remove some leaves, the lower buds will still be larfy. inverse square law applies to how light spreads out over distance. it is a significant impact on intensity of light just 2x the distance from light to canopy. light hitting bud sites does nothing. light hitting leaves near budsites is the key, but the further form light the less bang for the buck you get in photosynthesis, and at a steeply declining rate the further you go. there are no quality studies that show any yield benefit to removing leaves and such. i'd focuse on maxing out photosynthesis. the ATP produces is mobile (ATP -> adp releases energy to power endothermic reatcion in the plant - ie fuels growth). the highest nodes will always take the lion's share of it, even if you try to direct it to lower bud sites. dr photon on coco for cannabis website explains it more eloquently than i do. facts are facts, though. often, anecdotal 'techniques' are just masturbation. airflow is good reason. any leaves overlapping and physically touching will cause standing water on leaves, and that is also a good thing to avoid. but, try to leave as many as possible. RH is another thing directly related to amount of foliage (transpiration). So, if RH is an issue, removing leaves will help greatly with that too. have a good reason.. not promises of magically better buds without any evidence to support it.

The lower stuff at the bottom will be airy just from low light.
