CO2 Bag?

KikiMinnekannabis
KikiMinnekannabisstarted grow question 6 months ago
Should we add a CO2 bag to our growing tent? Do they add value to the plants or is it a gimmick? Our local big box store has them in stock. The one's from the mega online place has bad reviews (bags arriving already activated).

By the way, you can install a vermicomposter in the same room than your grow tent (or air intake) so that's three benefits in one: * reducing your household waste, including trim waste. * light production of CO₂ during food decomposition * nutrient-rich vermicompost for the next grow

Plants need CO₂ for photosynthesis, yes. But unless you've already got an excellent crop to the point where you're limited only by the level of CO₂ naturally present in the air, for an amateur grower, there's no point. CO₂ is the cherry on top of the cake of top growers. And CO₂ bags are gadgets. When activated, you can't stop it. And CO₂ is useless at night. Also, CO₂ is heavier than air. This means that it has to be "dropped" onto the plants and so the air extractor has to be stopped during the operation, otherwise the CO₂ is extracted from the growing area before it is of any use.

Don't waste your money. Tests have shown that standing in your tent for 5 minutes provides more co2 than those bags ever will. Added co2 is only of benefit when you have all other parameters dialed in to accommodate the added enrichment.

C02 is only useful when you have top end lighting, and you have a very well controlled environment. Does help bud production, and plants can take a little more heat, but in a well controlled room, you shouldn't have heat issues, and the amount of c02 entering the tent from the home, should suffice.
