Yes, it is safe to remove a few individul calyxes for better investigation.
Grab them at the base with a small pair of tweezers or flick them off with a fine pointed sharp implement.
Try using you phone then enlarging the picture, but you will need to rest your phone on something to get a super steady picture.

Potential bud rot?My critical cure has some of the smaller leaves near and in the buds which are starting to turn rusty brown. Is this a starting sign of bud rot? Should I cut them early?
I do not see anything abnormal under the microscope or when separating the large buds by hand. Thanks!

They show many white barbs across the plant. Natural daylight here is about 13h and 30 min now. More details in diary.

Someone told me, that she'll take around 6 more weeks to finish.
Now she has a lot of trichomes and they are quite cloudy. Almost all the hairs are, or are beginning to be red. Are 3 more weeks appropriate?

Will the trichomes on my Herbies Ape Fruit Auto ever change to cloudy or has something 'stopped' in the mature buds?What's up with my Ape Fruit Auto? While still glassy, the colour of the flower is "leaking" up the trichomes from their base, i.e., the 'head' of the trichome is still clear but there's a bleedthrough of flower colour up the 'stem'. Also appears to be less straight! Check diary.
