Sure looks like it is a ball at end of a twig vs a calyx.
If i had to put money down, i'd say male... but i'd give this a few more days or get a magnifying glass out.
Calyxes are distinctly differentl. They wil have 2 hairs portruding and rest snugly at base of the branch. Relatively smooth outer covering, but opened at top where hairs pop out - maybe an overlap of petals? but nothing like what i'll describe for the male bits.
The male pollen sac will have a stem/twig projection, no hair and you can see 5? 6? segmentations of the outer covering where it will split open later on and anthers pop out (nanners).
if you can see any of those distinct features, you can be confident in resolving sex. you have lots of time before a pollen sac can produce viable pollen from this point, so it's okay to wait a bit to be sure.
