buy foodgrade 5-gallon buckets (if worried about it).
Gamma seal lids or leaklite lids.. 8-10 USD give or take.
5 gallon buckets with an air-tight twist on lid with gasket.
During canningn season in the fall, should be able to find the large mason jars, but i beleive this is more economical. Definitely easier opening 1 5-gallon container than 5-20 mason jars.
I also buy the reusable mesh bags for carrying fruit from supermarket. Can wash in cold water, too. I keep my strains separate in the same bucket. Works well. No cross contamination with smell or flavor. Helps with consistency of ai in the bucket too. Rotating them around can 'mix' it up a bit. I keep a couple 67-g boveda packs in there.. sometimes 2 at top, 2 at bottom if i have enough to spare, but 2 seems to be enough on its own.
If it seals and has a gasket/o-ring etc, it should work fine. I only smell it when i open the buckets.
