What do you mean top the containers? If you mean you topped your plants because they weren’t growing then that wasn’t the correct action, the opposite. If they are not growing because something is wrong then topping will make it worse because A, topping stops vertical growth and makes it bush out and B, this also stunts the plant and stresses it. So it’s like treating a black eye by punching it again. Check your light intensity and distance. It may be too close. If ph is ok then check all other parameters like temps rh correct nutrition etc Good bit of advice when learning is to not do anything unless you know why and how. I’ve made worse mistakes and so will everyone on here. Don’t panic, don’t over think and read or watch stuff
