I found seeds from an auto plant, why are there and should I use them or throw them away?

Now that I start smoking the plant I realized that the plant developed some seeds.. (I already found 4). The effect are lighter than other hulkberry i smoked before. I have 2 questions: 1. What could have caused that? 2. Are the seeds auto and I should keep or throw them away?

1. What Could Have Caused That? Seeds can develop in your autoflowering plant due to pollination (from a male plant or hermaphrodite) or stress factors (like light interruptions or temperature changes). 2. Are the Seeds Auto, and Should I Keep or Throw Them Away? If the seeds are from a true autoflowering plant, they should be autoflowering as well. You can germinate them if they look healthy, but if you want to avoid risks of inconsistent traits or hermaphroditism, it’s safer to throw them away.

Self preservation. Those seeds will be hit and miss and not worth the time or effort to grow. As others have said.

The others have already hit the highlights for you. I will say, I grew 3 hulkberry and 1 hermied. I read reviews from other growers from other sites, that strain is particularly easy/prone to hermie. So most likely some type of stress caused it, but don't be discouraged because it's easy to happen with that strain. I will say too, that it's a good sweet smoke if dried and cured correctly though. Just not one I'd grow again though cause I trashed the one that hermied and I don't like wasting money on plants. Best of luck and Happy Growing!

High green_grow, The plant does create male flowers if the plant is in stress, especially during switching from growing to flowering and at the end of the flower period. Some strains are more sensitive then others. The seeds are useless, no need to plant them. Enjoy the weed buddy!

It looks like you were growing outside so there are two things that could have happened in your case. 1) Someone else nearby had a plant release pollen and it blew over to your plant. 2) Your had a few pallet sacks on the plant that you did not notice and then it released some pollen. Usually you throw those seeds away because they will have the likely probability of being hermi again. I know people who have used hermi seeds and they were ok though. As far as will it be an autoflower. If it was pollinated by an unknown plant, then likely not unless you know what that plant was. If it was pollinated from your own plant by turning hermi, then likely it will be an auto as well. Hope this helps.

So, if you grow outdoor. Some1 near you has male. Or a nanner burst in your tent releasing pollen. Most likely it'll be an auto. But not a seed you want to keep. Generally they don't turn out well..

Context is a little important to consider the hows and whys. Are you just finding an oddball seed every now and then or does it rain seeds when you break up a bud? If it's only a few it's more likely a banana(not really a hermie, more from heat stress or running flowering time extra long) or imported in on you. If it's alot then you had a real pollin sac in there. As far as growing it....most growers have grown some bag seed in their day. I can't report any of the calamities many warn of, but any seed you sprout could too honestly lol.

1. polleniation caused it. be it from one of the plants that you Grew or another plant from somewhere else. The origin of the pollen makes it a massive unknown and high risk for failure. Eg, was the pollen from a hemi plant fucking up or a stress end of life plant, or a reversed plant or a true male plant. 2. No telling if the seeds are auto or photo or fast "hybrid of the two" as you don't know the source. If you can't obtain any more seeds from breeders then try em out. just be ready to kill the plants if they show signs of hermi or turn into males. The more the plants produce generations of hemis over and over the more likely it is to be expressed from less and less stress. Its not an ideal. its also retarding the genetics with no new blood per-say entering the lineage. Best option. Toss em in a pile of dirt somewhere and forget about em then come back and see if they survived or destroy em. Then use fresh seeds from a good source that are lilkey not to give you any headaches.

Either plant went hermie or you brought pollen on yourself from outside. I would not grow such seed, too much risk to be weak genetics or even to have hermie trait ... Seeds are cheap vs your time, equipment and so on ... i see no point to risk. I did myself bagseed grows, seeds from hermied plants not once, never had any good results. If you want, you can always learn this lesson yourself ;)

Your plant could have been a hermaphrodite, which means that it would have developed some male sex parts and pollinated itself. This could be genetically or stress related. Also it would be possible that your plant has been pollinated by male pollen that was flying around/stuck on your hands from another plant. Either way, those seeds will not be reliable to grow them, they dont have to have the "automatic" trait because there is always going to be variation in seeds either way. Also you would possibly add unwanted genetics if it was from pollen flying around, it may be from another hermie or from a male rope hemp plant, and you dont want to waste your time cultivating unknown genetics. You could also be selecting dominant genes for becoming a hermie which you also wouldnt want. So better throw those seeds away and buy proper ones ;)
