Best soil for seedlings

Mrunknown
Mrunknownstarted grow question 4 years ago
I have some seedlings that have sprouted and starting to show a few tiny roots, I’ve never grown in soil before so was wondering what soil is best for the first pot until I transfer to the bigger pots that would see them through until the end

Hi mate! You should be good with any soil that does not have that much base nutes in it. I can suggest coco coir but thats whole new story. Its like growing in soil (kinda) but with the added growth of hydroponics. If you use normal soil, then any light mix etc should do. It is also good to add something like perlite and/or vermiculite to add airyness to the soil so the roots get more oxygen and those will also reduce the "packing" of the soil during the growth.

Hey @ Mrunknown! You should use any soil named as "Light Mix" or with an EC under 0.5-0.6. On the first 1-2 weeks of growing adding water and mycorrizes should be perfect/enough. You can also give them any root stimulator to improve that explosive growth of the roots. I recommend you Canna>Biobizz>Plagron soil mixes named as "Light". Have fun!
