NoVC01answered grow question 1mo ago IMO Lights. Here is a cut and paste regarding flowers stretching.
1. Insufficient Light:
Lack of Light:
Plants naturally grow towards light, and if they don't receive enough, they'll elongate to reach it, resulting in spindly and lanky plants with weak stems.
Distance from Light:
If the grow lamps are too far from the plants, the plants will stretch to compensate for the lack of light.
Light Spectrum:
Certain types of lighting, like those with reddish or orange tones (like HPS bulbs), can promote stretching, while yellow, white, and blue (cold colors) tones, present in LEC and LED bulbs, can help prevent it.
2. Other Factors:
Genetics:
Some cannabis strains, like Sativa varieties, naturally stretch more than others.
Temperature:
High temperatures can cause stems to grow spindly and weak, and can exacerbate stretching.
Overcrowding:
Too many plants in a small space will compete for light, leading to stretching as they compete for light.
Nutrient and Water Stress:
Low fertility or mild water stress can also prevent stretch if carefully controlled.
