There's no reason to give more hours of light unless you havea weak grow light and need to make up for it. Providng more DLI than a plant can handle will only lead to damaging the plant and no boost to outcomes. More is not better. The 'right' amount is what you shoot for. it is dictated by temp, rh and atmospheric co2. So, your mileage will vary compared to other gardens. you must always use the plant as the guide, and not some top-down preconceived notions. Suggestions are a good starting point, only. Always need some fine-tuning for your local variables.
