No growth in over a week. It’s almost been 2 weeks in the soil. Not sure if this is normal or something is impeding growth. The cotyledon leaf broke over over a week ago. Not sure if that is what could be causing it

Hey buddy 👋 thanks for sharing the photos and the details. I know this isn’t the easiest situation, but I’ll be honest with you in the most respectful way. At almost two weeks in soil, a seedling should normally be much further along than this. The fact that there’s been no visible growth for over a week tells us that something fundamental didn’t go right very early on. The broken cotyledon by itself isn’t always a death sentence, plants can recover from that, but combined with the long stall, it usually means the seedling never really established properly. At this stage, what you’re seeing is likely the plant surviving, not actively growing. Sometimes that’s due to: • early root damage • excess moisture in the first days • poor initial root development • or simply a weak seed I don’t say this to discourage you, but to save you time and energy: the chances of this one turning into a healthy, productive plant are unfortunately very low. If you have another seed available, my honest suggestion would be to start a new one, applying what you’ve already learned. That’s not failure, that’s part of growing. Every grower has been here at some point. If you decide to keep her going anyway, keep expectations very low and avoid adding anything “extra.” Sometimes they surprise us, but most of the time, it’s kinder to start fresh. Whatever you choose, don’t be hard on yourself. This happens more often than people admit. Thanks again for sharing, and keep going, growers Love and the next one will already benefit from this experience 🌱

Accept the fact that not all seedlings make it.........this is one of those. Broken cotyledon has had zero impact on this situation. Plant new seeds............always plant more than you need in case of duds and that way you get to choose only the healthiest and strongest seedlings to continue with.

If it’s starting to look brown, that usually means it’s under stress, not just slow. Most common causes at this stage: Overwatering → roots aren’t getting oxygen and the seedling weakens Soil too hot or too “strong” for a young seedling Cold or wet root zone slowing everything down A broken cotyledon alone wouldn’t cause browning, but combined with stress it can make recovery slower. What I’d do now: Let the soil dry out more before the next watering Make sure temps are steady (not cold at the roots) No nutrients yet Gentle light, not too close If the stem is still firm and there’s any green left in the growth tip, it can still recover. If it keeps browning and collapsing, it’s usually root-related. At this point, less intervention is better — stabilize conditions and give it time 🌱

you're asking for it having a volume of medium that dwarves the plant mass by magnitudes, you'll likely never keep it proper for a seedling i've seen folks not even trust themselves with seedlings in solo cups because of this pop another bean btw, forsure

hi......

soil looks hydrophobic. During germination/first 3 days you need to provide enough humidity and moisture for the seedling to survive. Personally, I prefer starting in a coco-fiber cube, put into a small plastic container to preserve humidity. After the seedling shows (normally within 2-4 days) I only transplant it before it touches the top of the container (~2-3cm). Also make sure to use PH adjusted water, optimally RO or water from the humidifier.

Something wrong with roots development. Check the soil by analyzing EC and pH levels from the drain of the pot.
