Hey Garys_Mod_Green,
the ideal harvest time depends on your desired effects and preferences. It’s best determined by observing the trichomes (resin glands), but your macro shots aren't quite detailed enough for that. It’s worth investing a few bucks in a magnifying glass or a phone microscope to get a proper look at them.
To give you a general idea of what the different stages mean:
* Translucent: The plant isn't ready yet. Potency is low.
* White: Peak THC levels. This stage provides a more cerebral, energetic high.
* Amber (Brown): THC is starting to break down into CBN. This leads to a more physical, sedating effect (the 'couch-lock' feeling).
The golden rule: Most growers harvest when about 70–90% of the trichomes are milky and 10–20% are amber to get a well-balanced effect.
It all comes down to what kind of high you're looking for. The great thing about home-growing is that we can experiment with different ratios—you can harvest different plants at different stages or even do a partial harvest. But you can only time that perfectly by checking the trichomes closely.
Over the last two years, I’ve learned that there’s not only a lot to learn about cultivation itself, but also about which specific effects I actually enjoy the most.
In any case, your photos show that you’ve achieved a great result—awesome job! Enjoy the harvest."
