Root rot?

JERgarden

I feel I made a huge mistake. The last two weeks I suspended the top bloom fertilizer and star to give a considerable amount of organic molasses (at EC=1.4). The soil turn compacted, and leaves begin to yellowing. Is the plant showing signs of root rot? What should I do? Help!!

i did that my first time too ! What you want to do is uncompact the soil then break down the sugars. So to uncompact the soil take your grow bags and gently "give them a hug" to get that medium a bit looser. Next the best thing for this situation is to water every watering with humic acid. The "compactation problem" will be solved in two or three waterings or like 10 days or so. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Hi @JERgarden it is quite capable of being the cause. You must be careful when applying molasses, because it is thick, it should be applied between 0.1ML / L - 1ML / L. always start at the minimum.Apply the molasses every 5 days and at intervals always with water only and gradually increase the dose according to the plant's response.the best thing to do is a flush with a quantity of water 3X the liters of the pot and do not apply more molasses. good luck mate 👍

I do not see anything else other than a complete flush and add food grade H2O2 (do not use the brown bottle stuff unless you cant find food grade there is a potential toxin involved BUT its better than this) to get a 1-1.5% solution, you dont have much time to fool with it. The sugars may be what is compacting your soil get them out if you can. Might even use a flushing agent but that would be a bit brash. Much luck hope someone has better for you 👍
