Go look at the pistols on my green posion. all white.. i now not to judge by that alone. I was just trying to give an accurate time frame, and i judge it perfectly. i dint know but they were in week 6. its mostly likely a 8 week ish strain as most poly hybrids are now. i was just saying by the looks of them they had about 2 weeks. its a very strain dependent thing though "Pistils never an indicator" yesss theyyy are.. you just gotta know what they indicate. you guys seems to be the one misunderstand what i said. a bit latter is better but too much and you have rot. and i know plenty of people would look ay my plants and say they are "overfed" too.

@Ratlesnk Now you want to say something smug like I don't do any research? I have plenty of first hand experience. "yeah you brought of the degradation vs oxidation thing and i was correcting you of why its irrelevant "Degradation could mean anything that's harming the trichome, usually age. which is not the case with these. they oxidized early. not degraded because they are old. " Which exactly correlates with what we are all saying. its not ready yet. That. you shouldn't trust those first ones. You guys gave real "concise" answers at first. That's why you had to reference both the people who answered before you own opinion about the matter. I told them about 1-2 weeks away. which is accurate. and a legit timeframe. you guys just said " Not even close" and "quit a bit more to go" . I wasn't mixing anything around you said "they have that old tired look about them. Yours still have that young healthy appearance" that's what you said. I knew you were talking about the foliage. why would i try to mix around words that people can look and read if they have to. by your metric half of my plants were nowhere near done. That white widow. complete green when done. and that's normal for that strain.

Interesting discussion. Pistils is like a light house, gives you knowledge , that land is close, but they can be build way off shore. Pistils can shrink ( polination ) . Pistils can go brown early in grow, because of high humidity and high temps or drastic difference between those factors during night and day. Wind damage, mechanical damage, bad ph during waterings, etc .... Pistils never an indicator. I can only agree, better harvest a bit later, than a bit too early. Difference can be up to 2x of final weight, about quality i don't speak even ... Plus not many growers can create early lack of nutes / natural fade, otherwise taste could be crap too, they tend to overfeed ...

Yep, you’re getting there 👍 Just be careful with that first picture: most of what we can see clearly are sugar-leaf trichomes, and those can turn amber noticeably earlier than the trichomes on the actual calyxes. I’d judge harvest timing from several mature calyxes across different buds, not from the leaves or a single flower. Once the calyx trichomes are overwhelmingly cloudy with some amber appearing consistently across the plant, you’re properly in the harvest window. From this shot alone, I’d keep waiting and checking rather than chop based on those few amber heads.

come on MindFlower68, and percebe sorry for these back and forth on your post. Do your own research on this subject percebe and you'll understand. I didn't say you don't give good answers. I said I prefer to give the science behind MY answers. If you want to split hairs as you say, you didn't mention degradation is caused by oxidation until after I did. Me clarifying the actual science behind the process isn't saying your wrong. Also, I didn't say the word "old" in relation to describing trichome degradation either. Now you've turned to twisting what I said. After all you right, I agree

@Ratlesnk Over the last 4 years watching an consuming as much cannabis content out there as I possibly can. I've notice that theirs a lot of content creator echoing the same thing. harvest until its fading, looking tired, 20 percent amber....and i think that is the wrong camp in a lot of cases, unless you really do enjoy heavy sedative weed. Which most people tend to like to be able to function. I do prefer particularly heady cannabis because helps with """AdHd"""... Most of the people saying to harvest late are the new generation tent growers and influencers. Not sure if you know any of these people are but after listening more and more about people like CSI Humbolt, Notsodog, Matt Riot, Fletch. Also Jade Nectar, who runs a landrace botanica garden. These are legacy Breeders from Humboldt and Oregon that all say the same thing. A lot of strains that smoke soo much better harvest "early". It takes some time to get that kind of knowledge, and have to be careful because there were lots of growers back in the day influenced to harvest early for nefarious reasons like beating the competition in the fall time, to sell their crops, or beating mold issues. It wasn't until like my 30th grow i found out because of time restrains and had to harvest a round of 4 plants at weed 7 that some plants doo in fact smoke way better harvested early. I'm not saying for any beginner to experiment with it, but I think the community has build a big fear of missing out and causing hypervigilance about it. I don't think a beginner should be taking a plant until, looks tired and dead either because then you run into issue with it rotting. Theirs middle ground here.

@ratlesnk I told you I didn't want an argument. But now you are here saying that I don't give good answers because i disagree with you on opinion? Degradation and oxidation mean the same thing here. You are splitting hairs for no reason. Degradation is caused by the oxidation. how was that not being concise. Degradation could mean anything that's harming the trichome, usually age. which is not the case with these. they oxidized early. not degraded because they are old. watch this video. tiled you are harvesting your plants too late. He touches on some things. www.youtube.com/watch

MindFlower68, Oxidation is the scientific term for the process and degradation is the scientific term for the reaction to that process. The amber color is the result of the degradation, not a result of oxidation. I guess you could say the amber result comes from both but I prefer to be concise when giving help.

This isn't an argument as well MindFlowers68. Clear and amber but no milky is right but that pic is of leaves which includes sugar leaves. I said the leaves will degrade as they like. But anyway, as you mentioned, to each their own when it comes to harvest time, I'd just hate to have someone harvest to early and have mediocre smoke. A novice grower is usually to anxious and in my opinion is better off waiting to harvest until they get some knowledge under their belt.

"I'm sorry, but from one response, you won't have amber and not see any milky.". Not try to start any arguments but what I said was correct. it is possible to see a bunch of clears and some ambers. The first picture shows this. What i was saying is that the plant is not ready yet, the ones he's seeing are ones that oxidized early. What these two are describing is their preference. "old and tired" I harvest much sooner than that. "not even close: ...both opinions. id say 2 weeks aways is pretty close =] have a nice day everyone

You have to judge by the trichomes on the buds like AsNoriu said. The amber color on the trichomes is the degradation of the THC happening. You can't go by the hairs color, yeah that will give an indication she's getting close. I've had almost all hairs turned orange and she still had a couple weeks to go. She will put on the weight last bit of flower, you harvest to early and you'll lose out. !8 weeks is a long time for an indoor grow and to only be as tall as your diary says but their healthy. From your pictures of the whole plant in your diary, you have quit a bit more to go. I'm sorry, but from one response, you won't have amber and not see any milky. Trichomes on the leaves will degrade when they like, not an indication of her being ready to harvest. Yeah each strain has their own character but they have the basic same appearance when really close to harvest. Look at my diaries, there are 3 different strains between the 4 harvested diaries but when mature, they have that old tired look about them. Yours still have that young healthy appearance. Good Luck

Not even close. You dont check sugar or fan leaf maturity of trichs, you check midle part of bud, calaxies, those parts which has hair, you are still in clear, a bit of milky and no ambers.

It's easy to overthink harvesting. It is the most important step of the whole grow in a lot of ways but if you made it seven or eight weeks with my strains, you're gonna have some good weed regardless. They are going to yell at you for not taking pictures perfectly in the center of the bud and that you took pictures of the sugar leaves and it's not an accurate reading, blah blah blah blah blah I think you're getting close dude Trust your nose and make sure you don't have a bunch of under developed stuff down below. I'd say you have a week or two left judging at the color of the hairs (stigmas) And the spectrum of colors im seeing in the heads. There's a few Amber there and some clears I don't really see any milky. I personally start harvesting once I start seeing any amber. The amber color of the tri-comb isn't indicating a change of chemistry in the Tricom head. It's merely showing that the Oxidation has occurred. Undeveloped tri-combs can become oxidized to. The reason I harvest when I see Amber is because it tells me the plans shutting down. I don't think that milky tricombs always means peak. Harvesting is personal preference to. Some people like harvest when the bud is practically about to rot it seems like.
