Critical Kush
Growing it
Easy

Easy
Critical Kush from Barney, is the living definition of vigour. Great adaptability to the growing environment, strong adaptation and resistance, very stable. Even at chop day she was looking strong. This week, she was kind enough to welcome me home with an overall kushy smell coming from the exhaust. But the plant itself during trim had zero gazzy skunky smell. This is the only reason I have not to give her the perfect score. If a strain is named with the Kush word, it gotta have some dankness. During trimming, hands got rapidly covered with a coat of oil, and fingers got shinny and sticky. Flowers where huge, with medium density. Smell was fruity, with backgrounds of mint and rotten. Calyx to leaf ratio was about average. This phenotype showed some beautiful fall colours caused by low temps soil, and strong QB style LED.

What a ride it was!!! Humboldt Seeds Company brings us some dank genetic with this impressive strain. Packed with anthocyanin, loaded with heavy terpenes, every phenotypes revealed in this grow have some huge potential, with that gaz smell we all Love, and some awesome bag appeal. This strains live up it's name and the breeder's description. Growers, get your carbon filter ready! The level of smell becomes hard to impossible to cover, if you are doing a complete stealth grow. This adds up to the level of difficulty. Also, this colourful strain is harder to follow it's progression, nutrients needs, and to determined when she is ready. Pushing the night and soil temperature on the lower sure brought some awesome colours. Delaying harvest also brought extra frost, and denser buds. But 2 out of 3 pushed a few bananas at the end of their flowering, and the 3rd one grew a branch with some male flowers. Very manageable, but it shows some weakness.

ACE Seeds - Bubba Kush x Malawi

✊2 different phenotypes to try. Not what I had in mind, but they will be a real delight. My guess is plant 1 will be very, very strong and plant 2 would be very very strong as well. ******************************************************** SMOKE TEST, REPORT & COMMENTS 2 WEEKS AFTER ********************************************************** Feels like I did not get a phenotype that is a real blend of those 2 legends. 2 seeds, 2 different plants, one looks like a Bubba, the other one like a Malawi. Results are not what I was expecting, has my first criteria to grow this strain was to improve the terpene profile of the Malawi. Plant 1, aka Malawi dominant Really finished like a classic Malawi (yes, Sativaman already grew a few of them😍...). Light green, chunky hard buds, drenched in resin, great calyxes ratio, and full of trichomes. Smell is what I'd describe as nutty woody oily like other Malawi. And like other Malawi I can get some vanilla and pine undertones that seems to go away in the first months. Gotta say, buds are harder than usual, and resin production was exceptional.. Effects are heavy. For seasoned smokers. Usually I smoke joints around one gram, with this one I've learned quickly that smaller is better. At higher dose it's good for greening out. Very heavy and psychadelic feelings, like edibles at very high dose (300mg thc+). I guess it would be fantastic for medical uses as a morphine substitute. At lower dose you get the excitement of Sativas, with increased hart beat, feeling like moving and doing stuff. Still some heaviness and distortion. At this strenght, when you get a hit, the psychedelic effects hit you and this is what I Love with this strain! It feels like you've jump out of plane in parachute, nice haed spin rush with diziness, Do I like her?, or Do I Love her?! = I LOVE her !!! this is the best *Malawi* I have ever grown!! Best effects, most appealing harvest, best burning qualities, but not with a dankier smell... Plant 2 aka Bubba dominant Finished with almost all qualities a grower could expect: killer looking buds, purple colour, rock hard buds, covered with trichomes ... but with very little smell and no taste!! =( ... I know this is a major deception and I am very sad to write this.. Truth hurt but it is what it is. ACE did not used a modern cut, neither the classic one for this cross: they used the Katsu cut. While Katsu is the father of every Bubba, the Katsu cut is a floral version. I've smoked a lot of this when I was young.... Nothing bad to say but not what you expect when you talk about Bubba kush. ACE's mission is to preserve and spread biodiversity so I guess using an old school underground cut for a cross, even for a *classic*, makes sense.. *sight* .... Effects, well she smokes like an indica, not too heavy, and as the opposite to her Malawi sister, effects gets more psychedelic on the mid term instead of the short term. While not being too strong this is a nice blend of both body and mind buzz. So.. Do I like her? or Do I Love her!?? I like her.... this is not exceptional smoke, a little blend, and reason to grow this was for some Dank, Stinky, Pungent, Skunky aromas. None of them are here.

....Really I wish I could give a 10 - I am NOT! the firsts it happened to this strain seems prone to hermie. To my knowledge I am 3rd grower here on GD it happens to. My crop is seeded, not heavily but in all maybe 30-40 seeds. - Congo have a lot of variation in it's genes. Got 2 different giant green sativa, a dwarf, and 2 purple absolute different plant. It does not behave like a F1. - It did not take long after iniating bloom for the 2 purple plants to show N toxicity despite grown in organic soil. Also had some mutation on leaves and bananas (hermie) on plant 2. They are sensitive and picky ladies that behave differently. - On top of that had to chop early because botrytis was found on 2 plants. After bringing them for manicure, only plant 1 felt like it needed more time. Still, it was supposed to be Highly resistant to mold and botrytis. Hermaphrodism and bud rot are the worst grower's nightmare!!!! but!, Their is ALWAYS 2 sides on a medal: - All 5 phenos looks killer. Contacted by e-mail ACE explained the F1 cross: it would be an IBL of PCK and Bangi Congo x Congo 3. ACE did not told more about the IBL (maybe it needed more breeding to be stabilised) Gotta give credit for responding. - Despite some N toxicity, taste, trichome and resin production were not affected. And despite a few male flower that showed up once they were pinched the plant did not pushed a single other one!! - About botrytis; I've packed my tent from wall to wall, I knew plant 2 was done and dying, she was the first plant to be affected, gotta take a part of the responsibility.... Plus my 4x4 only had one single 4inch fan to move the air between plants. After all, even if I rated it as Hard to grow, to be honest I was really busy all along the flowering cycle. Basically all I did was pour down water twice a week and keep them staked. Could have been a total different story if I did not saw the bananas and the bud rot just in time....Their different sizes and feeding needs is not for beginners. As I take some blame for the bud rot I cannot say that resistance is weak. Neutral is the the most objective I can put.

ACE's Malawi seems to have a lot to offer as far as phenotype diversity. This one's major quality was to be a quick finisher but it is not as potent and psychedelic as the other one I grew with the A5. It is some good smoke but nothing crazy here.

I was looking forward to grow Afghan kush WoS since a few years. Simple, honest genetic is always a winner for me. I was also told by a friend that the classic kush taste comes from these kind of background (Afghan kush, Hindu kush, those landrace strains...) Let's cut corners a bit: smell and taste are a deception as this cannabis is mostly blend! All the pine and pungent smells from pheno 1 turned into vanilla undertones, pheno 2 smells like a baked cake, and 3 is very light woody and hearty. Effects are enjoyable: mellow Indica, suitable for day time, old school feeling. Good for relaxation, watching a movie, sit outside after work. It's something less crazy high in THC.

OG Kush

Is this OG Kush legit? As usual a complete full smoke report will be done after drying. Me, Sativaman, will sacrifice myself. I promise to sober up for a day then smoke a huge joint for you to know. **************************************************************************************** ************ THIS OG KUSH IS LEGIT **************************************************** Oh my god! This weed!! This is it!! Taste, smells and high.... Phenotype 2 is even better! THE EFFECTS are mostly hybrid-Sativa. A little heavy on the hit, not electric head rush like most potent sativas but it leaves a clear mind with energy boost and happiness. I can enjoy a small one for quick releaf or for the taste, or smoke some huge joints without greening out. Phoenix did a great job as this is a typical high for OG Kush. THE TASTE - SMELL.... Being very specific about what I was looking for I have to say this is not and no way any close to the smell of the *famous local cut* in the black market for decades that every illegal organisation have been using. Problem with that phenotype is it's not enough potent anymore as compare to new strains and what people are now days used to. But the dank smell is such a delight with hint of skunk, cafe, pine and fuel.... I know we have some great local breeders and hopefully they will work out a new strain that preserved the taste and smell of Montreal's OG Kush. Phoenix sure did a good job her as well keeping the spirit alive with their take on this legendary genetic. First, the aromas are consistent with the taste that goes all the way till the end of your smoke, and even if you let a joint sit and light it back the day after the taste is still awesome. Complex notes of spice, pine, citrus, hearty, and skunk. Breaking apart a few nugs with fingers before putting in the grinder, to activate the oils is a good way to start with excitement with such a delightful strain. Buds are hard and have great bag appeal. I will grow again this strain for sure. Growing it was not easy as plants does not respond well to LST and Pheno 2 took 15 weeks from flip and showed no signs of stopping while breeders claim it is a 8 week strain. Also had to contact Phoenix for a question and they did not care to provide any answer. Total harvest 1 QP for two plants. For those who lives in Canada this is very close or better than Broken Coast's Ruxton.

Bubba's gift had a long time to veg. I gave it all the time needed, strong light, nutrients, fresh air and TLC. Phenotype stayed short with small distorted leaves, thin weak stems and lack pf vigour. After 4 weeks from flip, 2 weeks of flowering, it is time to say goodbye. Main cola is thinner than a tooth pick and top flower will be larfy popcorn. (see pictures) Growing this plant any further is a waste of time, plant count, space, nutrients, time, floor space, watts, etc. I already sits on a few pound of medium grade bad pheno stuff from lazy so-called cannabis breeder.

Killer A5 Haze

Full smoke report will be done after drying. Finger hash did bring me into deep space. Should be fantastic and super strong. ********************************************* Full smoke report ********************************************* I have been smoking Killer A5 Haze for quite some time now, and experienced it in every occasion. Phenotype grown here has a lot of Haze A influence. It shows in effects, taste and look. Not a bad thing!! Let's talk a little more about those 3 things. EFFECTS: High is clean. Not what I expected, but what I needed in my pantry. Perfect for morning smoke with just enough kick and sativa head rush to make a magic start every morning. Not heavy (for me) but still some high thc stuff. It gives that little electric buzz but leaves a positive open mind offset. No couch lock. It is also great for end of day energy boost and stress releaf smoke. Gives a nice mood enhancer with almost zero crash and no paranoia. One of the most enjoyable and well suited for me strain I have ever smoke. TASTE: The taste is pure haze with the nutty touch found in Malawi 1. It is very pleasant, rich, woody, nutty and lemony. It is smooth but full of aromas that can be tasted till the end of the joint. LOOK: Buds grown in elongated colas with classic haze leafy bud structure. Small trichomes, sugar leaves pattern around calyxes and fluffy not dense flowers. To the touch you can feel the resin and oil when you crumble it. The heavy resin content makes it easy to roll nice fat joints.

Malawi ACE Seeds * * * * * * * * * * -this is a 10 stars strain, first rating cannot be changed. Phenotype 1: This one was very Sativa while growing. Very narrow finger leaves with long internodes. At harvest time, the smell was sweet, lemony, with a hint of oil. Once dried, it reminds me old school C99 and Jack H. Very nice smell. As it is curing, tne nutty taste takes over (hazelnut, roasred peanut). Buds are covered in small trichomes, airy, light green with deep orange pistils. Plant was not grown in optimal conditions as it was so small. Smoke test was perform in morning with about 0,75g. of buds rolled in joint. At the very first hit I felt deep intense effect. Warm in the eyes, the front of the head. After the 3rd hit and so, feelings were already intense like I usually get from a joint of top shelf dispensaries. It has very fast onset. Smoking the rest of the joint was hard. But I did what I had to do! Taste is tropical fruits and nuts (hazelnut). Smoke is deep, rich and creamy, leaving a coaty feeling around your lips. Effects are not on the 'Energetic-creative' spectrum. Effects are warm with a mix of deep head and body. At first you feel the psychedelic effects: your brain is slower than eyes, feeling a bit disoriented, eyes get to focus on things while the rest feel distorted. I over did it and should have ate before, feeling a bit of nausea. Effects are powerful and a bit sedative, feeling focused and lost. Very trippy like if you over do-it on edibles. When ACE says don't drive under this they are right on and spot on. I am gonna have to try with a redbull (or coffee for those who likes it...) to get more intense effects and get moving. So not a day smoke. Feelings are intense but very enjoyable. Not for beginners. Phenotype 2: Sample test was done in same conditions as the other one. Effects happened to be very similar but a little less physical-narcotic. Taste and appearance are hard to describe and enjoy as it was a 2 gram harvest and half of it is stem and branches. I really recommend this strain. Don't be intimidated to grow a sativa landrace indoor in tent. Do not follow the breeder's advice to flower plant from seeds or as soon as clone as rooted. Also this strain does not require extra lightening standard 35-50 watts of HID or high end LED per sq. foot is perfect. Just like with other strains more watts will require CO2 supplement for the plant to use it. I tried it. Too much light (75+ w. per sq ft) is lowering growth rate. Strain is resilient to heat and dry air. I am trying to choose from the emoticon bellow to describe the high but non of them really apply.
