This variety was super easy to grow and she survived all kinds of neglect and hardship LOL. I topped her and stuck her in the garden and then I ignored her for the most part... until I saw how amazing her flowers turned out. She took a long time to mature though, and we live in Ontario with a very short growing season. I'm not sure this is the right growing zone for this variety. She would have liked more time to ripen up before the frost and fall wind and rain would overtake the sun and warm weather. However... she survived strong winds... and even some broken and duct taped limbs :) I started this plant indoors in the spring during COVID19 lock down. The germination date was the week of March 25, 2020. I didn't start the grow diary at that time because I was having a really hard time coping with the COVID19 non-sense and I wasn't sure I was completely committed to properly documenting the grow. In the end, I think this grow helped me cope... ha! I hardened her off over the last week of April, and then put her in the garden during the first week of May. I didn't offer her any additional nutrients, except the compost mix that was in our spring garden soil top up. I watered her with a slow drip irrigation hose which I left on over night once a week or so depending on the summer heat. The buzz from vaping BlackJack is energizing and the flavour is citrus and yum! This plant delivers as advertised. Good work Nirvana Seeds Co.

An absolute stunner of a plant in terms of sheer physical beauty. A very nice structure with one topping an early LST. A bonafide conifer once she gets going and stunningly symmetrical. Deep orange hues and a healthy stacking of milky and amber trichs. My first grow and a cultivar to behold and remember. Was a bit less resistant to heat and humidity issues than the other plants in the garden, so requires a bit more careful measuring at fertigation

Harvest report for MiteJack, I mean, BlackJack by Nirvana. As many of my grows that were in the wrong place at the wrong time, BlackJack was overwhelmed by a pack of ravenous killer spider mites. They had a taste for leaf. This plant did not begin infested and so its a sad end when you get to about week 3 of flower. You can see it was doing its own thing, random update, and then toast. Thats how fast an exploding mite population can be. But I digress, lets overview: These two started taken as regular clones. Growth was moderate as best as I was exiting winter and realizing how much temperatures were effecting things. I also didn’t have the amendment I have now, and was more inconsistent with soil. Still, a little bout with deficiency, a little food, they entered flower in just okay shape, but the initial stretch and performance indicated they were fine. As the mites moved, I got a shipment of ladybugs which certainly slowed the population down. Still, reenforcements were too late, and within a couple days these BlackJacks had it too. Unlike other BlackJacks in the tent, these plants were less infested but more importantly less developed. I see that a plant that is only partway and gets mites has far less potential than a beauty plant that gets mites further in development. My next step is to move the plants outside for a week or two in the Canadian Maritime summer climate to allow predators and harsh weather to go to town. Again, in comparison to previous MiteJacks, the pistils were still white at this point and so I was only going to get so far with the plants tossed in the shade. Yield took a big hit, even for mited plants. Another factor in the youngness of infection, is the lack of full development of the flavour profile. It tastes and smells in the typical range of BlackJack, but because of wash (see below), and the partial swell, much of the flavour is missing. Normally, the sweetness is much more pronounced especially in aroma. Potency never gets really effected with mites and so this is still sativa leaning, nicely placed in the head or eye sockets depending how much you blast. You just end up vaping less because of the lack of flavour. BlackJack is sort of in the middle of the road for frost, and I usually see a decrease after a omnipotent miting and then scrubbing. I’d still recommend BlackJack as this was a specific case. Check out Nirvana, I recommend, and this strain is worth your time. Disappointing experience this time 🤷‍♂️🏻

This is a review for BlackJack by Nirvana Seeds. I’ve done this strain quite a few times but never with this type of a bug twist. No complaints with early life, these clones were exactly how I pictured batch rotation going, and was going to be the new HPS christening. Little did I know the mite storm would soon be upon them .... It was sad losing the most impressive buds I’ve grown to cobwebs. There is a history of some treatment as they entered flower, but it was not complete, and the high heat low humidity environment caused the population to exponentially grow. I lost a sense of the smells and aromas. As well as the stickiness of the bud. I released many ladybugs to help take down the numbers. The BlackJack then spent some time outside in the Canadian Maritime summer climate, which also drove off the spider mites. I bud washed at the end (which is described below) and this salvaged a good portion of decent quality bud. I was still able to appreciate the density under HPS and the strain’s genetics once again. But, a good proportion of flavour and smell was lost. Effects were still present, sativa leaning, but present for both. I do find it just an overall slathering of effects, just generally stoned. Of some of the mited plants these were the least crystally, however this strain isn’t normally over the top with trichomes. Overall, I’d rank it a 6.5/10. I have indicated 7/10 but its certainly low leaning if its a seven. I have some other mite plants to follow and so this rating makes more sense in a larger scope. The bud was good, it wasn’t of poor quality, but it was a bit stringy where it was damaged and covered and overall stripped of some of the sweet smell.

A review for: Blackjack, Nirvana seeds. BlackJack has quickly become one of my favourite strains. Mid range, dependable growth and yield, solid effects, and nice growing visuals. This past plant really did truly fade as I did a bit better with using up amendment, and whether deficiency or not, produced dark purple buds. Lots of plump density suggests its not extreme deficiency. During growing, BlackJack produces a faint, sweet smell that can be licorice-like at times. When cured, the smell/flavour is nice and sweet with a deep fragrance or flower smell. Maybe an undertone of musk, maybe. It really is nice, not overpowering. This flavour mixes well with others. The effects are for sure sativa leaning, and strong! One thing that is nice about BlackJack is that it can consistently kick your a** if you vape enough. Love it. This is literally a 9.5/10. I really want strains to work hard to get that perfect score, and so maybe a bit more yield would do it. The rating goes up for this one each time. Highly recommend BlackJack, and Nirvana. All my lineage has been from one seed by the way.

Nirvana’s BlackJack! Not my first, but I feel I’m getting better at pulling this strain off. Or rather, this strain is resistant and tough, and will do well just about in any environment. I really find BlackJack can resist most errors and yields more than many other strains. Middle of the road for veg.: above average cloning and growing, but not the easiest to clone or the most vigorous I have. Growing I made the decision to bunker this plant up with another in the same very large container. Both plants survived and flourished, and the roots were healthy and filled out the whole pot. The buds were swollen and solid through flowering. Aromas were faint and sweet when growing, maybe a hint of licorice. After harvest I found the smelled stayed with a faint sweetness with some just herb or plant surrounding it. Its just mellow, more of the background base weed. Not overpowering taste or smell. Potency is really good, it is quite strong. The ratio of sativa/indica is misleading as that doesn’t indicate strength. I find it does hit both body and mind. I would agree it is sativa, but I feel relaxed too! I really find its waves of relaxation. To note, I did flower this plant about a half of a week to a week longer. But overall, BlackJack is consistently strong. This is one of my backbone strains at the moment given the medicinal qualities and strength. I try to have a few strains on hand for tastes anyway, so it doesn’t have to shine in that area. To be clear, it tastes good, just not the highlight nor is it going to come through strong - the effects will come through strong.

This is Nirvana’s BlackJack. Not the first time growing, but this is my first clone brought to harvest. The only issues during veg. were in the beginning stages of cloning when my basement was very cold which slowed things down. My regret would perhaps be my rush into flower both in terms of using up soil amendment and allowing the plant to gain more (stem) size. Flower was a pleasure and no issue, this was a small, compact plant. Maybe, during the early periods, a bit crowded in the flower tent. Smells growing are subtle and sweet, leaning towards a licorice rather than fruit or candy. Product smell and taste is sweet, with a sort of pungency, or sharpness, that keeps it from being primarily taste driven. Trichome production is only average, not caked in crystal. Plenty of resin. The effects are nice with a decent impact. I would agree with Nirvana’s assessment that it is sativa based, I find it easily wipes you out. I readily use before bed to get nice and sleepy. Disappointed in yield but I would consider this a small indoor plant, the smallest stage past sea of green style. Overall, even though it was outperformed by a similar sized plant, this BlackJack (and others) confirm to me it can usually yield a good amount. The buds get dense. I also was experimenting with lighting, and so the first three weeks of flower were only at ten hours of daylight, which likely limited plant size. I have plenty of more BlackJack on the go, so settle in and enjoy a nice vape. If I can get the yield up the score goes up.

This is my first review for Nirvana’s BlackJack. A mixed-bag experience, some good insight with a poor result. The main overarching factor was nutrient excess through soil amendment and then feeding. The details follow: No problems germinating. Nice, strong growth through its life. This experience has given insight into the vigor of this strain. BlackJack came in just as I was dealing with pests; it sort of avoided the problem, but when damaged from treatment it could easily replace fan leaves quickly. Nice nutrient absorption. This plant also persisted through cold temperatures and a lack of furnace, I really took time to dial in my winter grow operation. When things are going well you get excited, and I become impulsive, and so BlackJack went into flower with great expectations. With the temperatures being low, and such a streamlined rotation, the plant used up alot less soil amendment than expected. And, I just kept feeding my usual flower nutrient/nitrogen fade! In summer, or when I didn’t have excess amendment, I got away with mistakes. This time, not so much. Blackjack did survive, which was not the case with all my grows, but it was overvegged, i.e. excess nitrogen and nutrients gave way more leaf matter than you’d expect. So the buds were big leafy messes with very dark foliage. I flowered for nine weeks, Nirvana projects 8-9 weeks. After trimming all of it off and drying, I was left with barely any decent product (as indicated). This fact automatically skews the curing, tastes, potency, and density, therefore, I can’t really say I have a sense of anything but early life (which BlackJack seems very solid!). Regardless, I would say there were smells of sweet and herb while growing. It took a long time before the taste and smells of the dried product really came out. Even then, its faint and barely beyond bland. When I do get the aroma and flavour it, its lovely, a deep, sweet, green with a decent woody or pine finish. But often, the less dense product is just totally neutral. There is a good chance this is on account of overnuting, as the smells while growing were not necessarily ultra strong. I also tried budwashing for the first time, and while I would like to blame that, it wouldn’t be fair either. Its clear trichomes remain on the bud and that would include flavonoids. Potency seems totally unchanged with washing. It seems to have nice characteristics of both sativa and indica. I flowered for nine weeks, the end of their window, so I did confirm under loup there were many amber trichomes. I like couch lock as specifically what I look for, but much of that may have been on account of an extra week. Visually, the final product is nice considering the amount of veg. After washing, everything appeared very crisp even under magnifying loup, and the texture is just phenomenal when grinding. It dried very fast, but not overly dried, and it pulverizes to a perfect particle size. All in all, a harvest of 19 grams is not worth my time, but I can certainly guarantee is was on account of nutrients and environment. My faith in this strain or distributor hasn’t wavered in the slightest. I’ve quite enjoyed the small harvest both solo and more often as a mixer. I had successful clones featured in other diaries and so I am excited to rectify this!
