Few indicas have such a worthy claim to fame as GDP. Now considered an essential strain for any indica lover, Granddaddy Purple was created by Ken Estes in the early 2000s in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ken created the strain by crossing varieties from his own library with those handed down to him from Native American cultivators living in the hills of Humboldt County. Today, you can grow this California classic at home with feminized Granddaddy Purple seeds from Zamnesia. Zamnesia's version of this prime purple indica comes from a cross of real California GDP and Purple Kush—another big-time indica favourite. The result is a vigorous 70% indica strain with growth traits that suit both indoor and outdoor cultivation. In rooms or tents, GDP can stay nice and compact, reaching max heights of 3ft and requiring just 9–10 weeks to finish flowering. Outdoors, Granddaddy Purple likes to stretch a little more, reaching max heights of 4ft. On average, sun-grown Granddaddy Purple plants are harvest-ready by mid-October, and capable of delivering extra-heavy harvests even in cooler climates. Indoors, this sturdy hybrid can reliably yield up to 17.5oz/yd². True to her name, Granddaddy Purple by Zamnesia Seeds produces dense flowers with beautiful shades of purple, ranging from light mauve to deep, plum-like hues. Her aromas are extremely exotic, mixing the classic smell of sweet berries and earth with subtle floral notes (like jasmine and rose) as well as a deep, lingering musk. GDP's flavours perfectly replicate its aromas, and its rich mix of myrcene, pinene, caryophyllene, and 22% THC produce a mellow stone that's perfect for relaxation, introspection, and meditation.
