🌸 Week 6 Flower – Gelonade Diaries The Gelonade girls continue their elegant dance into flower, both Pheno #1 and Pheno #2 shining in their own unique way. Their structures remain remarkably similar, tall, strong, and full of energy, while each holds onto her own personality, expressed in leaf form and flower shape. This week we noticed a few small spots on the leaves. Nothing dramatic, nothing to sound alarms about, but enough to remind us that plants, like people, sometimes whisper when they need something. It could be calcium, it could be another minor imbalance, but the key is observation. We’ll keep a close eye, watching for patterns, listening to what the girls want to tell us, and adjusting gently if needed. 🌱 Quick Recap (For Those Just Joining) From the start, this run has been about detail and care. • Germination was clean and quick, the girls leaping from seed into life. • Veg was marked by strong branching, healthy leaves, and the unforgettable funky unicorn foliage of Pheno #2. • Transplanting into super soil and fabric pots gave them the room to spread their roots and breathe. • The shift into flower was smooth, guided by careful lighting, steady feeding, and a balance of Aptus and Plagron nutrients. • Weeks 4 and 5 saw sativa-like stretch, white hairs bursting across every cola, and canopy lights filling every corner with photons. PS: Understanding Foxtailing One of the girls, our Pheno #2, is starting to show signs of foxtailing. For those new to the term, foxtailing refers to when buds grow in elongated, irregular patterns instead of stacking neatly into the dense, conical shape we often expect. The result is a flower that looks “spiky” or “funky,” almost as though the plant is growing multiple little towers from a single cola. Why does this happen? There are two main sides to the story: • Genetic Foxtailing: Some strains naturally express this trait, especially sativa-leaning hybrids. In this case, foxtailing is simply part of the plant’s personality, often leading to extra surface area for resin glands, which can even mean more trichomes and aromas. • Environmental Foxtailing: Stress factors can also trigger it — high heat, intense light (too much PPFD), or shifts in feeding can encourage buds to keep stacking in odd ways rather than finishing their round formation. In our case, the temperatures have sometimes pushed higher than ideal, and the lights are running strong, so those factors might play a role. But genetics also carry a heavy influence, and Gelonade — being sativa-leaning, can naturally lean toward these elongated flower expressions. Is foxtailing a problem? Not at all. While it can look unusual compared to the “textbook” cola shape, it doesn’t reduce quality. In fact, it can increase flower mass and surface resin coverage, giving us more material and potentially more complex aesthetics. Some growers even treasure it as a unique expression of their plant’s individuality. So while Pheno #2 may look a little funky, we see it as a gift, more fruit, more character, more story to tell. So it has begun... I've had to start utilizing string to hold up branches by tying them to the ceiling rods and surrounding equipment. These plants are healthier and happier than my first grow, so I wasn't quite expecting them to blow up like they did, therefore my single-layer screen was not enough to support the branches. Not to mention the net used was store-bought and kind of sucks. I prefer my double-layer from the first harvest. The Mimosa is packing on some major frost, followed closely by the Glookies. American Pie trichomes seem to appear and ripen much closer to the ending stages of flower.

Aug 10: small but fast this Chemdawg is going to be ready pretty soon. I’ll resist the urge to harvest for a couple more weeks. Using the UV lights for a few hours at mid-day. Early in using it, but I think it helps. Aug 11: another perfect cannabis weather day with all day sun and five hours of UV lights. Ideally I’d have another set of four lights so to get full coverage I’m rotating the plant 90 degrees every 1.5 h or so for five hours total coverage. With the uniform manifold this isn’t a problem as the overall light coverage is quite even. Anyway, she’s getting some good strong light so some trichome production should kick in here soon. Looks good.

March 4, 2021... 📰 🌿 Day N°31 🌿 We are in the middle of the 5th week of growth for my three Feminized Amnesiac from Spliff Seeds..🚬 The plants are beautiful, after two weeks under my lamp @TSW2000 from Marshydro, they look so cute.🍀 📰 March 2nd I transplanted my plants into 3.4 liter pots with All-Mix soil from Biobizz. I topped two Amnesiac and the third one is with LST. I could have done it sooner, but last week I was on vacation in the mountains.. 🏔️ I have a bit of experience with Topping, but the LST I never test. I hope I did everything well as it should and that the plant will react well.. 😷 💉 Nutrients 💉 I incorporated 16 grams of Easy-Boost granules from Royal Queen Seeds into 3.4 litres of Biobizz All-Mix soil. 🔦 Light 🔦 I increased the power of my #MarshydroTsw2000 from 25% to 40%. 🐛 PEST 🐜 The treatment by the leaves of TEC FORT last week (1ml/l) worked very well, on 14 plants I saw only one thrips. Today 23/07/22 We are two days into week 5, never talked about nutrient or water’ problems I had some leaves with few yellow marks but very small one beside that I always saw my plants green and happy, here you can see the scrog I set up yesterday not sure if this will work better but I think will help the branches grow further from the others increasing the light they riceve! I made it myself I will order one for the next grown when I will get my grow box! The watermelon is already flowering but the northern light no so today I started feeding the plants with different preparations.. I kept on giving the grow booster with a bit of bloom booster and viceversa for the watermelon! If you have any tips anything you think I’m doing wrong or you see it’s not ok let me know I don’t grow in a box I grow between the curtains and my window so the environment wasn’t always the perfect one

I never intended for a huge plant. She grew in very close quarters with 2 other plants. I did accidentally split her in vegging down the middle. She has grown well for what I was wanting out of her. Nice heavy buds formed that have a great smell of sweet, and fruity. Sending her off to dry and will update when I get her processed out for smoke report. Sanlight evo at 100% Day 64: watered today with supplements. Getting high humidity levels, so I sprayed purolyt. Will propably flush in a couple of days. Day 68: flushed yesterday. One week now and then 72 hours of darkness. Looks and smells really good🤙

They've started to grow their first sets of leaves and although temperature was a little higher than I'd liked they're coming along nicely. You can see the difference from just three days growth and then 3 days afer that! Adding a small amount of bio canna vega and molasses.

Fini l’arrosage, petite défoliation et c’est roue libre complète pendant un mois ! :) I invested in a Blumat watering system with 8 Tropf sensor. No more watering for me, one more defoliation and we’re set to go for the next month !

Still no major problems so im very happy. Theyre all continuing to fatten up and i took the first microscope shots this week and they look amazing. much more dense than any of my previous. Gorilla is behind still, guess i got a slow phenotype but its still moving along at its own pace. Starting to see amber on the others so i reckon its right at the start of the possible harvest window. I have taken off a couple of small low down popcorn buds to see how they are. I am just very impatient haha. Hopefully it continues well for the next 2 weeks!

Week 12 JUN 9 Switched the smallest girl to the middle now. Still haven’t top fed or watered since switching to the reservoir. I accidentally added too much bulky b (double the amount) so I’m hoping the leaf discoloration is from nutrient burn, will keep giving just water for another week. I moved the bar lights up as far up as I could to max out space. Any tips how I can fix leaves and prevent? They starting to get real funky. The tallest on the left I think could be trainwreck, smell like the power of pinesole baby. Too early to say for middle. Still not sure on far right, smells citrusy though. Loving how this geek turning out so far

8/19/23 - Day 67 - Things are still looking good. We just had a water change. A couple more weeks! 8/21/23 - OK, ok ok, we have a lot of work coming up. Right now is like the calm before the storm. The storm I'm talking about is harvest, trimming, drying, and curing. This is the kind of labor that you LOVE to HATE. Especially with how many buds ill be pulling from this LEAF box. Let's talk about progress real fast. She is getting bulkier every day. Overnight she drank about 300+ ppm of nutes. She likes the nutes a lot. I'm taking this as a reason for all the little snowy crystals and the enlargement of the buds. Flushing: For about a week before harvest I will empty the water+Nutes and refill only with Water. We want the plant to suck up and replace all the nutes in the buds with water. This is called flushing. Trimming plans and Tools: When it's time to trim the plant, I've got a plan in mind. I'm going to trim the buds while they're still wet, and I'll leave them attached to the stems. To simplify the drying process, I will split the LEAF into two parts – the top and the bottom. Since space is a bit tight in the LEAF with this grow, I will keep just the buds on the branches. This will help the air circulate the buds better. I've even found this cool trimming tray on Amazon that I'm planning to use. I've realized that having the right tools for trimming is essential. Just like I'd put on gloves to work on a car, I will use nitrile gloves to keep things clean while trimming. And I'll use proper trimming scissors instead of regular ones. These scissors are designed for this job and should make the process much smoother. Amazon - Trimming Tray - (somewherr brand pictured above) Amazon - Nitrile Gloves Amazon - Trimming Scissors Drying Plans and Tools: Once I'm done trimming, it's time to dry the buds. I'm thinking of using simple tension rods, like those small shower curtain rods, to hang the branches. This way, I can create two levels inside the drying box. The lower part can rest on a SCROG net to ensure good airflow and even drying for all the branches. The LEAF box will handle the drying parameters. The environment inside the LEAF box will focus only on keeping the humidity at 60% and moving the air around getting the buds to a non-mildew amount of humidity. Amazon - Tension rods 16-28” Curing Plans and Tools After the buds are dry (60% humidity), the next step is curing. This means I'll be storing the buds in sealed glass jars. I've got mason jars and hygrometers to monitor humidity levels. Once the jars are filled with buds, I'll seal them and put them in an cool, dark spot. I plan to open the jars briefly every day to let in some fresh air. (15min). I'll know the curing is done when the humidity inside the jars stays around 62% during these "burps." That's when my perfectly cured buds will be ready to enjoy! Amazon - Hygrometer 12 Pack Target - 32oz Ball Mason Jars 12 Pack I use a smell-proof duffle bag. She went from about 900 at the beginning of the week to about 330. Now she's back up to 500ppms. We change the water in one more day. 8/24/23 - Day 72 - It's official: I have moved the smell slider up! Holy shit, does it smell potent. I put my arm in there through the Weed forest, and when my arms came out, I was attacked by the Skunk BOSS. I had to shower and change my outfit to eliminate the smell. Tag 105: Die letzten 2 Wochen beginnen. Ich gieße nur noch Wasser ohne Dünger. Eigentlich würde ich Temperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit gerne weiter senken, doch da macht mir gerade ein warmer feuchter Herbst ein Strich durch die Rechnung 😤 Die Pflanze hat schon recht helle gelbliche Blätter, was ich schon früh befürchtet hatte. Das Wetter war leider oft einfach zu warm für die Pflanze.
