Another big jump in height this week; we are starting to lose sunlight here by about three minutes a day now. I heavily defoliated these plants at the end of this week, and took off any “unviables”. I also topdressed with some extra bloom nutes and some new soil to help keep some moisture in. As of the date of this post, we are just coming out of a heat warning, and it’s been 47 days without measurable rain in my area, we are also seeing pollution from forest fires northeast of us in our province. It’s hot; it’s dry, and now, we have this eerie light that I call “the fire sun” Luckily the goils seem to be thriving as best they can in the midst of it all. ☀️ 🔥

At the beginning of this week, I have been fighting the gnats, which are less and less now. Just some watering and gradually lowering the light and going to full power. The Orange Hill Special has been filling out great and I must say, she is a pretty plant. With some manual bending and super cropping, I'm bending the longer stalks sideways and we are off. What I actually do is more of an intuitive hybrid between mainlining (where I bend the whole plant 90 degrees at the third week), LST (where I bend branches outward slightly, without tying), HST / Super crop (where I bend the stems 90 degrees with the clips or manually), after which I keep bending outward to SOG and, put the net over to end in SCROG. This same method gave me the canopy in my prize-winning Gelato 33 grow. Check it out if you haven't seen it, it was my first experimental accident that led to beta test of Super Soil mixture 0.7, now we are at Alpha version 1.00 and testing great so far if I say so myself. I haven't seen such lush greens in my own grows, only outdoor. They seem uber-healthy and resilient, with very sturdy stems and leaves. Way more resilient than previous strains I tested in the beta soil. The light is performing, the natural color of it makes everything pop. Mars Hydro has a winner with the SP-3000. Halfway through this week, I took the clips out, AND...... we switched them to go into flowering. After a day the stretch is already visible. I had to bend them again after a couple of days. Now we have almost a tent filling foundation for a maximum result canopy of buds. I was wanting to amend the soil with flowering additions (see recipe in yellow image), but I'm holding it off for two reasons. A/ The leaves are still so green and lush, I think there is an abundance of nutes. B/ @Haoss mentions his suspicions on his OHS grow (@#CannapediaProGrowersCup Orange Hill that very sadly went hermie on him) that nutrition in this phase could have had an influence, after asking what happened to him. I would have loved to see that grow to full harvest. But it makes me a bit cautious. if Haoss (whom I consider to be one of the star growers here) couldn't prevent this, what chance have I? I'm waiting until the girls start asking for nutrients. They'll show me what they need in their own time. For now this soil is the shizzle (also quite literally) and Im happy with how everything is going. I remember much more hassle and steering in the last grow. This grow, even the Gorilla runt seems happy. I now water them 3 liters of water / Perma tea mixture every 4 days, every 3rd watering I don't do the tea. This makes for fewer gnats and this soil seems to hold water nicely, also due to the hydro corn. What I like is there is always some unforeseen circumstance, a tilt of the tables, some battle to be fought which delivers in big harvests or, in worst case, no harvest at all. It makes it more exciting, when your heart is at stake, we pour a lot of love and attention in the ladies. So with hopes, but not too high, we go into flowering. Aug 31: end of August and now six weeks into flowering. I force flowered by putting her in the dark garage for 10 h a night plus “bonus two hours of darkness” from the use of a 730 nm light at dusk as a bloom booster. She’s not a super fast flowering plant but she is coming along. There is a nice lemony or citrus smell to the buds which is a personal fave. Should be good. Aug 4: nice weather lately and Euphoria is looking good. Great smell, but quite leafy and the buds are a bit slow to form, or at least slow for this far north. Should be good for an early October finish and September is supposed to be summer like here this year.

Well I think I could have gone another 2 to 3 weeks but I'm happy and need to move on to the next relm of life. I'll be back at the end of the week with total weights for everything once curred. Thank you for for you interest and likes 👍

Hey now, this week went pretty good, the buds are about done bulking up, and just waiting on the trichomes, I was really hoping she would be about ready, but I think she needs another week to week and a half total. The buds are rock hard, and super sticky. I have no clue what she will yield because the colas are not that thick, but there are definitely alot of them. I plan to squeeze her into rosin, and hopefully I can break the 25% mark for the first time with her, but we will see. The thrips infection is gone but there’re still a lot of damaged leafs as you can see in the photos/videos, but the growth hasn’t slowed down which is good. Anyway after I did some research into the big bang strain I found out that the company that sells this strain recommends “flushing” for a few days every other week starting from day 16 of flowering. This is meant to speed up bud development and I think it really did something here as the buds got twice as big. But I didn’t exactly follow their recommendations as it calls for watering the plants with large amounts of water and letting the soil dry for a few days and I don’t feel comfortable with that, so I watered them every day but made sure the soil was dry.

------GENERAL COMMENT------ As planed I lowered the base nutrient to 2ml, and took a break from Cal Mag, to release the N a bit, green is on point now. Tomorrow will catch up with the Cal Mag schedule as usual. Time for some overdrive, for the rest all good, girls are developing well and buds are getting bigger, no issues. Smelling delicious!
