Day 42-49 (Day 42) Just watered today but couldn’t go until runoff because I didn’t have enough RO. I forgot to add the probiotic too. Nonetheless, everything is starting to recover from those weird deficiencies and is looking super healthy. Plants are really bushing out now too. I had to top the zkittlez and BBB#3 again as they are just getting too big. Nothing is definitively showing sex yet but I’m seeing clues. Shouldn’t be long now. If I get 4 females or less I will use 10gal pots, 5-7 fem 5gal pots and 8-12 3gal pots. I need to stop overwatering. Even though it doesn’t look too overwatered, it is much better to water a little bit each day at lights on. This will help keep the humidity down as well as deliver optimal oxygen to the roots speeding up plant growth considerably. (Day 45) Gave an EM1 spray down today. The beneficial bacteria is said to overpopulate surfaces so powdery mildew and septoria can’t form. Something seems to be really working as I haven’t seen any yet. (Day 47) I sealed up the tent and am running both dehumidifiers and it’s keeping the RH around a safe 70% night and day which is right on track with VPD. Plants are all looking super healthy. Deficiencies have pretty much all cleared up. Cold nights I’m running 600w and warmer nights I’ll run 400w. I was asking around Instagram about white ash/good burn and a few different people assured me it has to do with mineral content of the soil. I was told the three best products for clean ash is glacial rock dust/basalt, oyster shell flour and langbeinite. I already have langbeinite so I’ll grab the other amendments today and top dress. I grabbed the amendments and also got some Destiny Organics dark matter super soil, coco and some beneficial nematodes. Top dressed each amendment except langbeinite and mulched in some coco coir. (Day 48) My shelf came in today and I think it may be to big for the 4x4 tent. Each square is 12”, not the 11.8” advertised. I could wipe down my flower room and set it up in there which would give my plants a good adjustment to the new lights before I flip. Or I could set it up in the veg tent but that seems like a huge hassle as the need to be moved and flipped soon anyway. I wish they would show sex already so I can toss out the plants I’m not keeping. For flower I am considering starting over fresh with the new Destiny soil and coco mixed with some amendments. I’m concerned that my current mix might be too hot. I could also dilute it with the Destiny/coco mix. Those little bulb mites that came in with the worm castings are a little concerning as well. Some say they are just beneficial composters aka “worm bin mites” and others are telling me they’re predatory bulb mites which destroy crops like garlic. I’m leaning towards beneficial composters but in another grow I watched them devour a seedling before it sprouted. Gotta check the current roots but the plants aren’t quite ready to be transplanted. (Day 49) Got everything in the flower tent wiped down and sprayed with alcohol then EM1 few hours later. Got the shelf set up and got all my temp controls set up and running. I put the controllers outside the tent this time and will patch any light leaks. Gave a lite compost tea at 830ppm and a velokelp foliar spray at 6ml/L. This will be the last veg feeding before I transplant into their final containers on the 31st. BCTG#2 is a confirmed male and I pulled him. No one else is showing definitively. Roots looked super healthy with very few mites but I’m not 100% convinced they’re all clean. I saw a few mites on leaves today too. Saw a bit of droop after the move but they all look happy just a few hours later. Took a few clones from some sucker branches on a few of the blackberries.

Hey, cannabis enthusiasts and connoisseurs! 🌿🔥 The journey with our Runtz F1 has been nothing short of legendary, and now we’re at the stage that every grower eagerly awaits—the trim and smoke report. This Runtz F1 has delivered beyond expectations, and I can’t wait to share the details with you. Let’s dive in! The Trim Process 🌾✂️ The trimming process was an experience in itself, filled with care and attention to detail. Here’s how it all went down: • Breaking Down the Branches 🌿: • First, we carefully broke down the plant into manageable branches, making sure to preserve the integrity of each bud. The structure of the Runtz F1 made this easy, with its dense, compact colas ready for precision trimming. • Trim Bin Magic ✂️: • Using a Trim Bin, we meticulously trimmed away the sugar leaves, leaving behind only the most beautiful, resin-coated buds. The Trim Bin isn’t just a tool; it’s a game-changer, allowing us to catch every last bit of precious kief that falls during the process. This extra kief is like a bonus for those special moments when you want to add a little something extra to your smoke. • Preserving Terpenes with Grove Bags 🛍️: • Once trimmed, the buds were placed into Grove Bags for curing. These bags are revolutionary in the cannabis world, designed to lock in terpenes and keep your buds fresh for the long haul. Unlike traditional jars, Grove Bags use a special TerpLoc technology that creates a perfect microclimate within the bag, balancing out oxygen and moisture levels. This means your buds cure evenly without the need for burping, preserving that incredible citrus terpene profile we’ve come to love from the Runtz F1. The Legendary Smoke 🌬️🔥 Now, let’s talk about the smoke—because this is where the Runtz F1 truly shines. • Flavor Explosion 🍊🍋: • The moment you take your first inhale, you’re hit with a symphony of citrus flavors. It’s like walking through a citrus grove with the sun shining down—notes of oranges, tangerines, and lemons come through strong, each one distinct yet harmoniously blended. But the magic doesn’t stop there; an underlying hint of vanilla sneaks in on the exhale, rounding out the flavor with a creamy, smooth finish. It’s an experience that dances on your palate, leaving you craving more. • Aroma 🌿🌸: • The smell is just as captivating as the flavor. As soon as you open the Grove Bag, the room fills with that zesty citrus aroma, complemented by a subtle sweetness from the vanilla undertone. It’s the kind of smell that makes you pause and appreciate the craft that went into growing this plant. • The Effects 🌟: • The effects of the Runtz F1 are as balanced as its flavor profile. Expect an initial wave of uplifting energy—perfect for daytime use or when you need a creative boost. As the high settles in, it mellows into a relaxed, yet focused state. It’s the best of both worlds: energizing without being overwhelming, and calming without knocking you out. This makes it an ideal strain for those who want to stay productive while still enjoying a potent, flavorful smoke. Final Thoughts and Invitation 🎥✨ The Runtz F1 has proven itself to be a true connoisseur’s strain—a perfect blend of flavor, aroma, and effects that’s both complex and satisfying. This was a journey that showcased the importance of patience, precision, and care, from germination all the way to the final cure. If you want to dive deeper into the entire process, from the first week of veg to the final trim, I’ve documented it all on my YouTube channel. Join me there for a closer look at how this incredible strain came to life, and learn more about the tips and techniques I used to bring out the best in these plants. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey, from the community to the amazing brands like Gro Diaries, TrolMaster, Aptus Holland, Kannabia, and more. So it’s the end of Week 5, Day 35 for the Sweet Seeds Gorilla Girl XL auto flowering grow. I have come to the conclusion that these four plants are not going to be XL after their pre-flower stretch. Overall the plants are healthy but the prolonged low humidity and temperatures have robbed them of the vigorous growth documented in my previous Sweet Seeds diary (Cream Mandarine XL Autos). I am disappointed that this will most likely be an XS harvest but a tiny quantity of quality bud is better than nothing. I gave them their first feeding of GHE FloraNova Grow fertilizer at a rate of 1.25 ml/gallon and this is 1/4 of a full dose that would be given to a photosensitive strain. I am still watering every fourth day at a rate of 2.8 litres per plant or 0.7 of a litre per plant per day. I will only be using the fertilizer every other watering or every eight days. That’s about it for this update and on to… Mom’s Tip for Week #5- To Tuck or Take? The when, where, why and how to defoliate Autoflowers successfully…. Lets start with some basic Biology- Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants take in sunlight, water and Carbon Dioxide and transform it into energy in the form of sugars that feed the plant and make it grow. So essentially, every fan leaf on your plant is a solar panel collecting light and therefore valuable in it’s own right. I always try to tuck my leaves if possible before considering removal as my plants need all the energy they can get to power through until harvest. But sometimes tucking isn’t enough or just isn’t an option anymore so here are my suggestions for taking the fan leaves from your Cannabis plants if needed. When- defoliating Autos can be done anytime throughout the grow although it’s generally not done within the first 3-4 weeks. The plants are usually quite small and those early weeks are valuable growing time that these plants simply can’t afford to miss. This is when I find leaf tucking to be most valuable, allowing the plants to keep what few solar panels they have while also allowing the grower to position the leaves so that they are out of the way. I personally find that I defoliate my plants the most over the final 3-4 weeks of the grow as foliage is dying off on it’s own by that point and a few less leaves at harvest time is always a good thing! Of course anytime you see dead/dying or diseased foliage, it should be removed as needed throughout the grow. Where- defoliating Autos is a delicate balance due to their small size and short lifespan. If my plants are healthy, thriving and tucking is no longer an option, I will only remove fan leaves if they are covering/blocking new growth or potential bud sites. As the plants age and the foliage begins to die off naturally, I tend to remove the oldest, lowest growth first working my way up the plant as needed until harvest. Why- defoliating Autos is done for a few basic reasons but only as an extreme in my garden when all else fails. Removing certain large leaves will allow more light into the lower portion of the plant’s canopy reaching young branches or potential bud sites. As the plants age, it also helps with increasing airflow around your swelling buds thus reducing your risks for mold and fungi in humid grow environments. Removing any and all dead/dying or diseased foliage is absolutely necessary in keeping your plants healthy and the grow room clean and pest free. How- defoliating Autos is simple if you keep it simple. Only remove what you absolutely have to and use a sterilized set of sharp pruners for a clean, controlled cut. As the plants age and the foliage begins to die off naturally, just wait. What doesn’t fall off on it’s own will snap off with a simple twist of the leaf’s stem. If the leaves don’t come off with ease, they’re just not quite ready yet so be patient. Be mindful that removing the solar panels from your Cannabis plants is always risky business but Autoflowers are even more challenging in their own way. Smaller plants with a lower leaf to bud ratio and a short lifespan means less room for error so paying close attention to the when, where, why and how is crucial for successfully defoliating Autoflowers. Tuck if you can, only take what you absolutely have to and of course- never take more than 25% of your plant’s overall foliage at one time as this can be devastating or deadly to even the healthiest of plants. Allow your plants to take the lead and they will show you which leaves are ready to go- at what time, all on their own just as nature intended.

10/20/21 - They all look great today. We are moving up to week 2 in the feeding schedule. The plants will hopefully start going big after a few feedings with Grow Big. 10/21/21 - Looking good. The Sour OG is definitely growing and turning back to green. Fed with nutrients and misted all plants. 10/22/21 - They all look great today. It’s obvious they are growing, especially the Platinum Wedding Crasher. We topped them this evening :) 10/23/21 - Looking spot on. Topped a few more plants and took some light blocking leaves off. Fed with nutrients also. 10/24/21 - They all look very perky today. They are growing so fast. We’ll be adding a second ScrOG net for flower in about 3 weeks. 10/25/21 - They all look really good today. Very perky and obviously growing :) In a couple days we’ll be moving to week 3 of nutrients. 10/26/21 - Looking really lush today. Very green and perky. The soil was dry so we finished week 2 of nutrients. On to week 3 tomorrow.

March 27, 2019: For the most part everything is moving along nicely. I transplanted the autos into 3 gallon fabric pots over the weekend. The transplant went well, no damage. I also moved 2 of the autos into my flowering room under 12/12 HPS. The other 2 will remain in the veg tent under 18/6 LED. I'm also running a separate diary specifically on the how the autos compare in the different environments (check it out). The CBD Medi Kush and DinaMed CBD+ have taken off in the flower room. They are both about 30 inches now. The Cherry Hemp plants stretched nicely also, but are growing shorter and bushier overall. So far I have to say I'm impressed with how things are going in the flower room. The organic methods appear to be working very well. The plants all look super healthy, no signs of any deficiencies and the leaves are all the perfect shade of green - not too dark and not too light. My baby clones are not doing as good. These clones definitely look like they suffered from overwatering (oops). It looks like there will be a few survivors, but I'll probably lose about half of them.
