I joined Grow diaries late in my growing career... I wish I would have found this site sooner.. Enjoy! I personally enjoy growing mephisto genetics. I was very happy with the toof decay grow and end result. I ended up letting this cure for 2 months. It is number 2 in my book so far for my adventure with Mephisto seeds. Walter white is #1. I grew this in colder conditions through the winter of 2019. Super dense buds loaded trichs, very loud smell, and great appeal! I have more of these seeds so I will do a start to finish eventually. 🌱 VEGETATIVE (4 weeks) The Runtz seed, placed in a root-riot cube within a DWC net pot, successfully sprouted by day 4, under an 18/6 light cycle (50W at 50cm). The first week saw the seedling establish itself, with roots extending into the DWC reservoir. During the second week, despite slightly low humidity and temperature, the seedling demonstrated robust and rapid growth. Light intensity was increased to 75W. Towards the end of this week, I removed the first set of true leaves as they were growing too close to the substrate. The third week marked a noticeable increase in the plant's water uptake (1 LT/day), which prompted me to raise the nutrient solution's EC to 1.0. The plant showed significant development while maintaining a compact stature – a trait I appreciated. In the fourth and final week of vegetation, as odors began to emerge, I installed a carbon filter, raised the EC to 1.2, keep the pH in the right range and boosted the light intensity further to 150W. By the end of this phase, the plant was bushy, compact (21 cm height), and healthy. 🌸 FLOWERING (8 weeks) For the first week I switched the light cycle to 12/12 and introduced a new nutrient solution adding Power Buds to the mix. During the second week I was impressed to see preflowers clearly visible as early as day 10 of flowering. So, during the third week I made a substantial defoliation session to manage the plant's increasing bushiness, which I knew would be crucial for later-stage light penetration and humidity control. In the fourth week I introduced a PK 8/9 booster, Green Sensation, thereby increasing the phosphorus and potassium concentration in the solution, water consumption around 3 LT/day. Towards the end of the week, I performed another significant defoliation, including the removal of lower, light-starved branches, to which the plant responded well. During the fifth week the stretching phase concluded, with the plant reaching its final height of 69cm. Its focus shifted to bud development, and the foliage began to adopt a darker hue. At this point, my role was primarily to maintain stable environmental parameters and a correct pH in reservoir. During the sixth week buds were visibly swelling daily, the plant remained in excellent health, and resin production became more pronounced. For the seventh week I implemented a change in feeding, completely cutting the nitrogen from the DWC solution, using only Green Sensation at a higher concentration. In the eighth and final week of flowering (week 12 overall), I performed a complete DWC reservoir change. I filled it with plain tap water and maintained this for 4 days leading up to harvest. On day 56 of flowering (84 from seed), the Runtz plant appeared perfectly ready. The buds were dense and glistening, pistils mostly browned and retracted, and trichomes displayed a good mix of milky and some amber. Immediately after harvesting her, I removed the fan leaves, deciding to dry these as well due to their remarkable resin content. ✅ DRYING The entire plant was hung to dry inside the grow box, which was kept completely dark with constant, gentle air circulation for 8 days. The average VPD during this period was maintained around 1.2 (approximately 20°C and 50% RH). Once this drying period was complete, I trimmed off all the sugar leaves. These resinous sugar leaves will be combined with the already dried fan leaves and larf buds, and I plan to use them to make cannabutter for edibles. ⚖️ Dry weight After the 8-day drying period, and once all the remaining small leaves and branches were removed from the buds, I weighed the final product: The harvest yielded: - 150 grams of dense buds and 5 grams of finger hash. For edibles: - 30 grams of larf and a large amount of fan and sugar leaves. ✅ CURING For the curing process, the dried buds were placed in a large, airtight glass jar. This jar was stored in a dark location within a room maintaining a stable temperature of around 20°C for a total of 45 days. The burping schedule was as follows: Day 1-7: twice daily for 10 min. Day 8-10: once daily for 10 min. Day 11-14: every other day for 10 min. Day 15-21: every 3 days for 10 min. Day 22-30: every 4 days for 10 min. Day 31-45: No burping. 📑 SMOKE REVIEW - At 15 days cured a vegetal note is still quite present and the smoke is a bit harsh, typical for a short cure. The effects are already pleasant and potent, very promising. - After 30 days of curing, the Runtz has improved considerably. The vegetal smell has mostly faded, giving way to a much more defined sweet and fruity fragrance reminiscent of candy and berries. The smoke is noticeably smooth, euphoric effects are dominant. - At 45 days, Runtz has expressed its full potential and is now perfectly cured for daily enjoyment. The aroma is intense and complex, an explosive mix of sweet candy and tropical notes. The effects are potent, starting with an uplifting cerebral euphoria that evolves into a pleasant body relaxation, without leading to couch-lock. 🍕 I also made cannabutter which I used to finish a risotto. The result was insane – both the risotto itself and the potency of the cannabutter were exceptional!

(Bloom test week) I decided to put both plants into bloom to determine the sex of each one. The Right hand plant was a Male (sad times) the left plant however is a winner and is looking super healthy , i have now switched the lights back into veg at the end of this week, aiming for another 3-4 weeks of veg.

These plants are exciting! 🤩 (Today is day 22 (from sprout with green). We have two plants here. Both are G14’s. Plant #1 we topped on day 11. Plant #2 we are letting it ride out to see what it does, but with a bit of help from LSTraining. Plant #1 is measuring around 7.5 inches but that’s on an angle as pictured, next time I untie it to rearrange I’ll try to get another measurement. Plant #2 is around 5.5in. Both are just doing great and changing daily! Even from night to day we notice a difference! Both are receiving fox farm plant food and calmag each watering. I removed those super big fan leaves today so I’m hoping they do ok with that. 🤞🏼💪🏼🤩 As I’ve said in my other journals, I take a lot of pics lol. 3/03/2021 - Seeds arrived - I let one seed soak in distilled water for 12 hours. Room temperature. The other seed will go straight into a moist paper towel tomorrow. 3/04/2021 - After 12 hours of soaking I moved the seed to a moist paper towel and put in a ziploc bag. I also started another Seedsman Blueberry seed (didn’t soak it as an experiment). I put the ziploc bags in a warm dark spot. I will check it in 24 hours. 3/5/2021 - The seed I let soak for 12 hours has started to root. I’m going to let the tap root get a little bigger before I transfer it to a rock wool cube. I will check the seeds in 6 hours. Well 6 hours later the non soaked seed broke open and exposed a small tap root. Tomorrow they should be ready for rock wool cubes. 3/6/2021 - Moved the seeds to rock wool cubes. We observed that the seed that did not soak, rather just placed into moist paper towels, had the first sprout. We made sure to put root down first with spout over the top of the rock wool. 3/7/2021 - Both seeds have sprouted and are in the humidity dome. They will continue to grow until I see roots. 3/8/2021 - The sprouts look great! We will let them grow until roots appear from the bottom of the cubes. The 3rd cube in the dome is another Seedsman Blueberry we will be growing as a mother plant for clones. 3/9/2021 - Not really much to report. They seem to have stopped stretching and are taking shape nicely. I will continue to keep them in the humidity dome until they root out of the bottom. 3/10/2021 - Today all 3 seedlings had roots showing in the rock wool. I transplanted each one into solo cups filled with Fox Farm Happy Frog. I noticed the cubes were soaked and over watered. The soil will dry it out and I will start feeding them Fox Farm Big Bloom.

September 25 > Harvest at dawn for the big girl. The usual routine... except I shot a time-lapse video this time to play with the camera I won last year. Clipped the top buds first - then the base. Took me 2 hours to wash all that -rinse - repeat. ---------------------------------------- Well this was an interesting summer with this pair of girls. I learned that I don't really need a container larger than 10 gallons in order to grow very large plants (in my neck of the woods anyway). Now when I say large I mean how much space they take up on my patio. I'm allowed to grow 6 legally but 4 eats up pretty much the whole patio. And the reality is I don't need to grow plants that large. The outdoor yield will last well into next year for me and everybody I know. So next summer I plan to do much more serious pruning to limit the scope and shape of the girls I grow outdoors. I also learned that I don't need an inverted tomato cage style support if my container is larger than 5 gallons. The Durban I grew last summer was in a 5 gallon container and there's not enough weight in there to keep her grounded. Once up to 10 gallons you won't want to lift the container much and there's enough weight in there to keep things stable. At the moment I've listed 450g as a dry weight for both plants (updated to 458g final). I haven't actually weighed the 2nd plant yet and won't even trim her for about a week or so (I'll be back to update diary). The first girl came in at 235 grams. I got pretty ruthless throwing away small budlets and trim this morning as it took me 4 hours to take this big girl down and wash her up. That's only because I spent half a day yesterday trimming Cream & Cheese and moving Northern Lights around... and it's been over 95 degrees both days... so I'm ready for a rest. Cannabis harvesting is not easy labor. Diary note > There was a software malfunction a week or so back and I was unable to add a new flowering week, whereupon it was determined there was a limit of 26 weeks at that time... so I didn't add any more weeks after that until the harvest week. When I added the harvest week, it appears the malfunction had been corrected because I COULD HAVE added a new flowering week at that time. I think there's only a week missing. Differences can be noted with dates on the photos. If I had a problem this summer it's because I was too anxious to get going after a long winter nursing shoulder surgery and I didn't pay proper attention to the lighting ramifications when the instructions were there for me, and subsequently started too early. Next year I plan for an early crop of auto flowers to keep me occupied until the proper time for a regular crop. --------------------------------------- September 30 > Trimming and processing complete. I really manhandled the big girl with the Trimbag, largely because I knew I was gonna have a pound of herb on my hands (way more than I will personally consume) and I wanted to minimize my hand trimming. So when I say manhandled here, I mean I ran it through the process TWICE, using about 40 rotations/spins each time. It probably would have helped to be a tad drier, but we're entering a cool spell now and we've run out of time. Mother Nature has decided to turn off the heater... which has turned my Purple Berry Kush a nice shade of purple... but that's tomorrow mornings's harvest... <sigh>... anyway... where was I... oh yeah... AMNESIA... <hehe> Trimbag generated trim on 1st pass = 217 g Trimbag generated trim on 2nd pass = 90 g Trim generated by hand after that = 186 g Final bud weight for big girl = 223 g Clearly, comparing weight of trim generated by hand vs by the Trimbag here you can see the result of my "manhandling". Little girl was in a 10 gallon pot and generated 235 g buds and 360 g trim. Big girl was in a 15 gallon pot and generated 223 g buds and 493 g trim. Final total bud weight 458 grams for both plants. Hope anybody following along learned something this summer. I did. 😎 The trick is to not make the same mistake twice. That's kinda why we're all here. Kinda. ✊

INSANE GROWTH OVER THE LAST 12 DAYS

very easy to grow strain excellent smoke definitely would recommend growing this although end weight is a bit disappointing with only 19 grams for the whole plant

Cooled off, some strong winds and a decent amount of rain, but no structural issues at all. 98% Humidity at night, and most of the mornings. Nice upcoming weather for a week, planning a final compost tea, then the weather looks absolutely miserable. Still spraying BT and LCPT a few times a week. As soon as I start loosing the battle against budrot I'll harvest her early, can only fight mother nature so much. Fingers crossed on another 3 weeks, but I doubt it.

Week 8: Tapering down watering less.

Week 3 of flower. Plants look great. Trying a few more tops this run, with some upper deleafing. Ive also been running Hydro Bio and ive decided to move the lights down to anout 2ft. Im running 800W of KingBrite LEDs and im hoping for a nice outcome after the upset with the test of bleach for sterilization vs H202. This run the Hydro Bio has microorganisms, so no sterilization needed. PH seems to be more stable and root zones of the vegging plants seem much more white and more of them. Stay tuned!

“The Wock” 7 Weeks🤙🏾 Ladies are crushing its! I’ve for sure found 2 phenols I want to keep going based on structure and growth. The first was actually going to be a throw away. I didn’t like how lanky she was in her solocup stage. I instead topped her to slow down lateral grown and threw her in a 2 gallon bag to do her thing. She is now in a 7 gallon bag and has the best structure of them alll IMO. My 2nd pheno is a Tri-leaf mutation and it throws tops like no other! The perfect mother plant and is why I chose her as pheno #2. The 2 plants that were topped at the 5th node are bushing out more and more, just like it like it. There are 2 natural growing plants are doing great as well. They have nice bushing with one main cola. All plants will be defoliated 5 days before flip. Still feeding them with Greenpower 7ml/l and i give them around 1.7L every 3 days. Yesterday i added some Great White Mycorrhiza (this stuff is killer!!) to the feeding. i will give the runtz 1 more week and flush it. HerzOG will go to flush in 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. 😏 ps: hope you guys enjoy the video 😅

Did some light LST, and a little more defoliation this week. Looking great, but it is a challenge managing this many plants in a tight area. I wont do this many next time. Switching to flower today 06/03

No purple yet, maybe never. But still beautiful and smelling very good. Very good harvest coming. Buds getting fat. Given that the soil is organic with a wide variety of amendments I decided not to keep fertilizing with liquid fertilizer.
