Week 5 Veg Report: Croco Mutants A Quick Recap: The journey with my Terpyz Mutant Mentha de Croco girls has been a ride full of unique beauty and challenges. Here’s a quick look back at our progress: Week 1 (Germination): Using TheCannaKan, the seeds sprouted quickly in a controlled environment. They were then moved to Root Riots with nutrients from Aptus Holland, setting the stage for healthy development. Week 2: The first set of funky leaves began to emerge, showcasing the distinct and peculiar traits that make these mutants so special. Feeding started with Aptus Regulator, Startbooster, CalMag Boost, and All-in-One Liquid—a well-rounded blend to support their growth. Week 3: These funky beauties continued to amaze, displaying different leaf structures and growth patterns. The environment remained stable, and photos with my Nikon and Sony cameras captured their vibrant essence. Week 4: A dip in temperatures brought on slower growth, but the girls adapted well. Organic Aptus All-in-One Pellets were introduced into the soil mix for consistent nutrition, while bottom watering started to combat gnats. Week 5: Slow Growth, Unique Beauty This week has been all about patience, observation, and admiration. The mutants are growing at their own pace, but each plant’s unique beauty and dark green vibrance make it worth the wait. Environmental Update: Temperature: The cold has settled in further, with daytime temps at 18°C and nighttime dropping to 14°C. While slower growth is expected in these conditions, the plants are adapting and maintaining their health. Humidity: RH remains stable at 65%, providing just enough moisture to support their development without creating excess stress. Feeding & Watering: The same Aptus Holland nutrient solution is being used this week: Regulator (0.15 ml/L): Strengthens cell walls, helping the plants adapt to colder conditions and maintain their vigor. CalMag Boost (0.25 ml/L): Supplies essential calcium and magnesium for strong, healthy foliage. Startbooster (0.25 ml/L): Encourages root development and early-stage robustness. All-in-One Pellets : A complete nutrient solution providing the base nutrition these girls need already in the soil. Additionally, I’m continuing with bottom watering, where the trays are filled to let the soil absorb water passively. This has been effective in keeping gnats at bay, especially when combined with yellow sticky traps. Bottom watering also encourages the roots to grow downward, seeking moisture and building a stronger foundation. Growth Observations: Each plant remains a unique masterpiece: Leaves: The diversity of shapes, sizes, and structures is remarkable. From jagged edges to rounded tips, every plant tells its own story. Color: The deep, dark green is a testament to their health and the effectiveness of the Aptus feeding regimen. Despite slower growth, they’re thriving in their own way. Cloning or Flipping to 12/12: I’ve been debating whether to: Flip to 12/12 for a week to induce pre-flowering and identify males and females, or Take clones when they’re large enough and flip the clones instead. Each approach has its benefits: Flipping the plants: Speeds up the process of sex identification but temporarily halts vegetative growth. Cloning and flipping the clones: Preserves the original plants in veg while testing the clones for sex. This method is more time-consuming but allows the mother plants to continue growing. I’m leaning toward cloning when the plants reach the right size, as it seems the most practical for maintaining momentum with these unique mutants. Photography Update: This week, I brought out my Nikon and Sony cameras again, using different lenses to capture the intricate details of the plants. From close-ups of water droplets creating reflections to stunning macros of leaf textures, the results truly showcase their beauty. Why Use a Camera Over a Phone? Lens Flexibility: With interchangeable lenses, I can adjust for macro shots, wide angles, or depth of field, something even the best phone cameras can’t fully replicate. **EDIT** just an FYI... SmokieMcPot wants NOTHING to do with Seedsman!! Appreciate the response I got from them after replying to one of their spam mailers in dm... lets me know everything I need to know about their company... I'll continue to plug breeders/vendors that I feel deserve the advertising. I won't EVER plug a Seedsman bean! How time flies... Start of week 6 is it?? I feel I've put these girls a week behind, but then again I'm sure they'll bounce back just as hard as they have already. I just keep stressing these bitches out 🤣. so far have ive topped both, supercropped TF out of em (should have tied em down again too), swazz'd (to an autoflower point I guess)... what else can I do to hurt these girls feelings?? I can tell anyone that actually reads all of this I am going to drill their main right before harvest with the 48hr dark period.. Just put the net in today to keep a hold of em for now. Have another to use for when they need support. I plan on scooting this one up a bit as it stretches and branch them out some more. These branches are pretty stick like, so no more bendy bendy to those or snappy snap will occur. Day 35- nothing special that hasn't been mentioned already. Running the GHE wk 1 bloom feed at full strength (1237ppm total). Will continue to adjust strength depending on how much TDS drops in 12/24hrs. May update later with a vid to show how thick the main is. BTW I forgot to set timelapse for day 34, so the carnage and immediate aftermath won't be added to the week unfortunately. Day 36- i accidently farted while working in the closet tonight... i think i may have to burn everything in there now and start from scratch.. it was THAT bad!.. i dont think a million apologies will make up for making these girls inhale THAT, nor flush it out of their systems. damnit!! Day 37- woke up to a puddle in the catch tray!!! couldn't find it so i ripped out the net. didnt really want it in there yet, but was helping with a few branches. ended up being the silicon light protector pad in the back directing splash from the dripper next to it right out a LST hole i drilled in the bucket. easy fix.. RES change tonight. same week 1 bloom medium strength since its the same as week 2 formulation. ended up being 1327 after PH corrections. water started off 300ppm calmag and started using hydroguard again since the h2o2 did the trick a while back and we're in the clear. plants looking awesome, and have another 19 days before another major defol. uploading vid of a new system im working on as a teaser for the next grow... its far from finished... but the final product will be showcased later on. Bigger version of this waterfarm and its upgrades. Plus something a buddy wants me to try, but I'm waiting on the plated titanium mesh to show from China to finish that piece and bring it to show and tell for everyone to see. Day 38- PM RES change due to TDS drop from 1327 to 902 in 24hr. WG starting her droop letting me know. She sure does pump right after a fresh change. Must have went light on my measurements cause I ended up in the 1100's. As long as the ratio is right, that's what matters. I don't know exactly WHAT they're eating, just that they are. Adding anything could risk a lockout. Looks like WG is trying to tell me to back off on the Nitrogen?? Maybe dialing it back a bit on accident worked out for the best.. Mild defol tonight to open up those bud sites. supercropped a few more fresh stretch limbs on GC. Day 39- selective leaf plucking tonight. Bare minimum to keep things opened up. RES change later in their day, tomorrow for me. Will be lowering the nitrogen a hair since 2 or 3 of WG leaves are curled downward at the tip. Will update with the breakdown after the fact. Day 40- WG has been looking hungry since yesterday. Don't blame her cause RES is down from 1100's to mid 7's. Even with topping off with 300ppm calmag'd water around 2.5L a day now. Changed RES before they woke from their nap. Modified week 2 transition GHE "medium". Breakdown as follows: 2 gal calmag'd water - 300ppm Micro - 11.6mL Grow - 11mL Bloom - 14mL RES totals after PH corrections - 1253 @ 5.54. Day 41- WG looking hungry again... RES was already down 200 from its change not even 12hrs ago and down 1.5L. top off, PH adjust. changed RES during their night, right before "sun rise". same modified formula as yesterday. need to bump it up so EC doesnt drop as fast. GC need to pick up the pace, cause i dont want WG getting full on amber by the time GC is done. random plucks here and there to keep things kinda opened up without taking off too much ATM. few leaves on GC showing small brown spots, calmag def?? hmm.. already using 5mL per gallon to get to 300ppm.. *edit* looks like the start of a calcium deficiency. Odd, cause I'm adding 5ml/gal now as per the bottle. Raises ppm from 80 to 300. How much is too much?? Going to try 7mL per gal for a few days and see if we can nip this in the butt. As always. When I place the steel forks on the stems to keep them from growing up this strain will go all noodle like and bend more fluidly then all the other plants. its like spaghetti or some other pasta related wet noddle thing. Still giving them a 2:1 or 2.5:1 grow vs bloom nutrient. Its helping with some of the pink stems from last week. Feeding strength is up .2 point to reach 900ppm or aorund 1.8EC will leave it here fro the remainder of Veg. Prob will do for 2 more weeks then flip to flower as I just topped them and want to give them some time to recover. NPK ratio of 7-7-14 1:1 equal parts grow/bloom. Grow=8-4-15 Bloom=6-10-14 Boost=1-15-30 "not yet used it yet" Also took some clones from the plants as well, took two main cuttings from each plant, forgot to do the one so its not shown in the first video up the updated clone pics later in the week. If any of these impress me then the clones will go outside and grow there all year for a extra special harvest. Or I'll give them out to some friends and family maybe a little gorilla gardening project, but I will wait before getting ride of them all as I'm still kicking my self in the ass over the Blue Cindy loss. really liked that plant and wish its clones I gave out where still aorund. Dec. 4 - Week 9 begins. Dec. 6 - I removed some dead and dying leaves. Dec. 7 - Photo update. Dec. 10 - Timelapse uploaded. This poor girl, the sometimes infrequent waterings may yet be her demise. In the video after the plant droops the leaves come back much more yellow since they're being sacrificed for the greater good. I've been aware that plants do this for many years, but I think it's still pretty neat to watch happen over just a few seconds.

1st week generative phase: Pre-flowering and the next problem with the two topped specimens: Yellow leaf tips - too much nitrogen. I just thought: Close your eyes and go for it.... Organic cultivation regulates itself - well, at least in theory.... 🤣 Cannazym works wonders! I love to highly recommend. I work with it from pre-flowering to harvest and gently increase the dose. A word about water quality... 💦 I now use oxygen-enriched reverse osmosis. Since here in Berlin the pH value is basically very hard (very calcareous water) and not all plants can cope with it, I decided to invest there. Not cheap, but incredibly effective.

A new plant was born, thanks to the seeds of Sweet Seeds, I hope the best girl will grow up

All photos are from the last day of week 3. This week we had some problems with the temperatures, not to mention the broken fan. We solved the problem by removing the power supply from the Lumatek ats 300w pro lamp and taking it outside the tent. Everything seems to be fine even if there are some yellowish leaves.

The girls are smelling really nice…turned out a seed project but I sure would get some fire smoke. I’ve been feeding her 3 gallons of water daily preparing her for some charcoal ash…
