Umm, a strange week in growville. I dropped the additional light I added about 7 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I was bleaching the plant and subsequent to removal of the extra light I now have about an extra inch of growth in each main stem! Definitely suggests I was overdoing it 'proper newbie style'. The new growth is a much deeper green compared the the blanched leaves below. Oh well, live and learn.

D50. The start of the fourth week of flower, and all is well in the tent. ------------------------------ D51. I noticed a few necrotic spots on a couple of leaves. I suspect that it's a Calcium deficiency. I ordered some Biobizz Cal-Mag, hoping to stop the problem from spreading when it gets here in a couple of days. I also calibrated my Hygrometer since I've noticed lately that it seemed a bit off. Sure enough, it was off by 7%. ------------------------------ D54. There's not much to report as she is just doing her thing without any help from me. The necrotic spots haven't spread even though I haven't added any cal-mag. What I see, though, is senescence starting, but according to RQS, Purplematic can finish in as little as eight weeks. I haven't checked her trichomes yet but will once I get back, as I'm going out of town for a week, and she will be left to her own devices. ------------------------------

Into week 8 - I think I've managed to time these well... yes, they've had 40C+ temps - but only in the really final weeks and I bunched them towards the wall so they got more shade and less of the infernal sunshine. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing... the heat is good but it sends them crazy and stunts their growth really badly. Feed schedule is mostly the same except in the last 10 days I've skipped the feed on 2 nights because I wanted to make sure they've extracted all they can from the soil/water/nutrients. It's also a bit of an experiment to see if it pushed the calyxes to swell a (little) bit more? I've got some photos running alongside these and I might make a diary for them as well. The very last plant in the video above is the Sweet Seeds "Gorilla Girl XL" - amazing colours that the camera can't pick up properly. My pick of the bunch aesthetically, she exploded beautifully. The very first plant is the Barney's "Gorilla Glue" auto - this and one of the "Sweet Mimosa XL's" seem to be a week slower than the others. Still a lot more furry than finished :)

I guess I first have to extend a big thank you to James and the folks at RQS. The genetics of their “Northern Light” did not disappoint and this was a no fuss grow across all categories. This will be the only time you hear me refer to Northern Lights in the singular. It’s kinda like calling a “pickerel” a “walleye” - you just don’t do that up here😉. She took well to training, showed no signs of lockout or deficiency, and we were at the top limits of botanicare’s recommended feeding schedule the whole time. I’d call this typical NL - the scent wasn’t overly powerful, she grew somewhat squat and while I’m actually very surprised at the final weigh (thought it would be much less), the whole grow was typical of the strain in my experience. Possibly her biggest limiting factor was simply space constraints. The photos pretty obviously demonstrate that she got really crowded out by the neighbouring kush and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she’d have done a little better with some more room. That said, what isn’t “typical” are the effects. RQS touts this as a cup winner and I can see why. Had the opportunity to sample a little and WHOA! She Hits with a lasting, cerebral and euphoric effect that starts as a light, happy high. Not a crippling or dulling effect at all. Just everything you’d expect from a well rounded strain in general. Perfect. I almost wanna describe it as a classic sativa but I’ve been smoking nothing but a pure indica for so many months now that anything different is gonna feel that way 😂. Thank Christ for some new stash diversity: 1:! Many, many thanks to all those who cared to comment, suggest or converse on this one. It’s been a pleasure hearing from everyone and I did what I could to keep ‘er interesting : 1:. Next up will be a couple autos on RDWC before the summer outdoor season (and a significant indoor upgrade) is upon us. That said, I still might be outta touch for a little while due to “life developments”. All the best with that quality smoke folks😉: 1:😜! Seeya on the flip side.👊😎0

July 19: first night of force flowering last night. Moved into dark garage at 9:30 pm and out at 7:30 am for 10 h of darkness. Using 730 nm far red light at transition to dark which puts plant into dark mode two hours faster and is like getting a 26 h day with 12 of darkness. Rain day. July 22: Foliar spray of Epsom salts and potassium silicate this morning. The magnesium in the Epsom salts helped with the yellowing on the new growth. July 23: added another loose Scrog net layer. Tied to water bottles to open up the canopy to sunlight.

So I suspect the strain isn't all that stable but I'm having a fun time with the variation. They smell wonderful, very fruity, with cream and pepper, though Weirdo has stronger sweet spice scents over fruit. She might be around a lot longer than the other two to finish her run. My lil' Eldritch monstrosity :)

This week i pull the light down to 40 CM away from the colas preparing for flowering stage. this week i in crease an organic food ratio to 3 ML/L and in a couple of weeks i will increase a little more to 3.5 ML/L and still feed in Veg nutes. I think, She is quite ready to get through the flowering stage. Any recommendation for me before i turn to 12/12 cycle for flowering?

Whoa another week. 07-01-2020 ( Day 116) Heat is very strong in January on this latitude. I keep the tent door open almost all the time to help ventilation. She is developing more buds from the former buds, that's waht it looks like, so if this is the way I think I had seen this befor, she would be keeping on growing new little buds from the buds that have been already formed, thus instead of packing on bud weight, she develops more biomass creating new buds and elongating the ones that we already there. Day 117 08-01-2020 Yesterday I forget to cover the tent front with the nylon layer to prevent any light leaking through the zipper and pinholes that there are all over the frontal face, the grow room is at my back, when I sit by the computer, so, the front side gets all the glow from the monitor. So I gave her a continuous long night starting at 8 pm yesterday , lights were on by 8.30 and will be off by 17. Day 119 (10-01-2020) I added 0.2g/L Boost fertilizer (High K and P) twice a week every week, until further observations or whatever. So the final mixture is 0.4 g/L Bloom and 0,2 g/L Boost, plus the other general nutrients/additives. The inlet air fan broke so I had to run to the store to get another one. I hadn't checked before (MY BAD!!) but I'm positive that it broke today. By the way, today is extremely hot! (30 ºC /86ºF) by the mid tent's height where the thermometer is) so I let the tent door open and extra ventilation (of course that microbes, spores, dust and other shit that is getting inside the grow room rampantly in the meantime). Day 111 (12/019 One thing that puzzles me is the fact that some buds are frosty but other look at bare sight, like there were no, butwith the loupe, one sees that there are in fact many of them but very tiny (I hope they'll develop a little more later). The thing is why does it look kind of a different thricome maturation?

So she was chopped (wet trimmed) yesterday (F74) and is now hanging up to dry at 55% RH and temps between 15 and 18ºc. I made fresh frozen dry ice hash today using a 160 micron bubble bag, a flat surface, 8kg of dry ice and a couple 5 gal buckets. I already have the weights for that, which far exceeded my expectations. Those figures I will post once she is dried and in 1 quart screw top glass jars. People suppose dry ice hash is inferior quality vs bubble hash. I am not experienced enough to comment on that but must say it is extremely easy to make hash with dry ice, it took 40 mins to process 995g of trim which included sugar leaves, some stems and popcorn buds. I then pressed it into 3.5g briquettes for storage using a pollen press. As you can see from videos, this stuff is all blonde - and after already trying some today with some friends, it knocked our boots off! Will be back in 5-7 days with harvest figures, smoke analysis and other details! Happy growing all! P.s I ticked defoliation this week - the only week I intentionally cut any leaves off for the entire grow 😉
