Welcome to Week 1 of the Sweet Seeds Gorilla Girl XL Autoflowering grow courtesy of the fine folks at Sweet Seeds! This is the second of three consecutive grows/diaries that I am doing to showcase the tried and tested genetics from this reputable seed breeder. My last grow was a smashing success so I have high hopes for this grow as well. Nothing much to report for Week #1 although I will mention that the first watering was only 0.7 of a litre per plant (0.18 of a litre per plant per day) and the second was 1.4 litres per plant (0.35 of a litre per plant per day). I am watering on my usual schedule of every fourth day as this seems to be the sweet spot throughout past grows. I am using the usual- air bubbled tap water that is PH’d to around 6.0 and if need be (over the winter months in Canada) warmed to 68-70 degrees prior to hand watering with a small watering can. The seedling that lost one of it’s cotyledon leaves is fine but still a little smaller than her sisters. So now on to Mom’s tip of the week… Mom’s Tip for Week #1 is- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR- QUALITY IS KEY!… When considering growing Cannabis, even on a small scale, quality is an important factor in all aspects from the seeds to set up to the supplies used throughout the grow. Starting with seeds from a established breeder will raise the odds considerably in your favour for a successful outcome. Many seed companies are more than willing to ship out freebies while building up their brands which seems attractive to new growers- but use at your own risk! There’s nothing worse than being halfway through a grow and discovering male flowers tucked in amongst the lowest branches or realizing that your beautiful buds have been mysteriously pollinated just weeks before harvest. I know that seeds from a reputable seed breeder are usually more expensive and can be hard to access in certain parts of the world. But purchasing quality seeds from a reputable seed company is the first step towards homegrown Cannabis success. An area that new growers often overlook due to the high price is the quality of crucial components in their set up- including tent, lights, and intake/exhaust fans. Anyone can get away with cheaper pots, oscillating corner fans, water pumps for dechlorination, etc but it’s worth every penny investing into the workhorses of your entire operation. An initial investment of around two thousand dollars will provide serious growers with the longevity and hassle free basics needed. If done right, quality components will pay for themselves within the first 6-12 months of use and continue to serve your needs for 3-5 years to come. Supplies used throughout the grow are the final area where quality is important but somewhat subjective too. Although I’ve already stated that I don’t feel the need to spend big dollars on all the extras (pots, oscillating fans, water pumps for dechlorination, PH/moisture meters, etc- I do believe in doing my homework to make sure that I’m getting the best bang for my buck. I thoroughly research every item purchased and used in my grows by reading customer reviews, speaking with other growers and sometimes even trial and error at my own expense. Making quality an important factor in all aspects of Cannabis cultivation will benefit you, your grows and the planet we live on. 🌳🌎🌳

Week 5, now we are talking, she is stretching and the roots are growing at a really nice rate. Feeding is almost at the recommended max without her showing signs of overfeeding, I always increase and try to push the plant but you need to go slow, step by step and see how she reacts, always give her 48 hours to see how she copes with the new dose, If she looks healthy stick to dose for the week and increase the following. A good trick to see if you plant wants more of less fertilizer is reading the ppm and check when the res level is lower after 3 days or so, if the ppm rises but the water level doesn't go down quick she has to much feeding. If the PPM stay the same or drop with quick water intake means she takes it in very happy and maybe can take more. Will continue to rise the dose till we reach the recommended max of 2.5ml/l, might play with the ratio later on.

What a great week it’s been!today is day 65 from seed!! One of the Forbiddin Runtz got it’s last feeding on Friday and will get flushed for 2 weeks and will be ready for dry and cure! The rest will still remain getting same dose of nutes the rest of this week and most likely into the next! This batch felt like it went so quick ! Hope you all enjoy an watch out for next week !

i gave 1ml/l bloom booster but the ph kept rising to 6.7 i couldnt bring it down for longer then 1 hour. so now its back to micro/bloom also added calmag the buds are getting bigger now

Week 2: Had some beautiful growth this week. I top dressed with Dragonfly Earth Medicine Nutrients.. Lush Roots, and Brilliant Black with some Earth Worm Castings Since things are taking off so well I went ahead and begun training. Just some LST bending it over so the lowers can share in some light. I will continue this process, trying to open up as many bud sites as possible.. Temps and humidity have stayed pretty consistent for now 78/52-56 (Day) and 70/55+(5) I will top dress once more before switching over to feeding teas. ( it is easier for ME to feed and adjust as I go.. Training sometimes makes it hard to get in and top dress.)

This week it was cold. The cold weather stops the good flowering growth. But we keep going.. We have no choice. I do my best to make everyone happy and inspire them to do the same. You can see what I use and what the results are. Green regards capten smokey😁

I planted 3 seeds to germinate, but only one sprouted. Sad. After it emerged in the coco, the first watering was done with aloe vera juice. The next day, it was irrigated with Azospirillum, a bacteria that promotes plant growth, fixing N. The third watering was done with an aerated tea consisting of mycorrhizae, molasses, and worm castings. The fourth watering was done with fertilizer, with a ppm of 700. I used Plant Prod and Calcium Nitrate. For the fifth watering, I repeated the tea, and finally, another watering with fertilizer, with a slightly lower ppm (541). All waterings maintained a pH between 5.5-5.8.

RS11 x Banana OG - Barney's Farm x Doja Day 62 - watered with 2L of RO tap water with nutrients, ph'd to 6.3. She has started to stretch significantly and is approaching bloom - I'd say by the end of this week, her flower will start to show, as she has now been on a 12 hour light schedule for just over a week. I've removed a couple of nodes from her as well as a stem that wasn't progressing as well as the others.

Hello All, So the end of week 5 has arrived and the ladies are flourishing. The 1 Gorilla Glue which was late to show signs of flower finally did so on day 33🎉. I gave them all a banana FFJ and humid acid tea on day 32 which they seemed to have responded very well to. I have been slightly defoliating 2 or 3 leaves per plant over the last week inoder to allow more light penetration and hopefully more bud sites will appear. Smells like Rubber bands coated in a berry sugar or berry sryup very interesting on the nose! Harvested day 67 ish maybe a couple more hard ot tell outdoor Split the harvest into drying buds and some to made into fresh frozen hash. i can dry weigh the fresh frozen buds and put that weight in the wet section and i will put the to smoke buds in the dry weight section so total between the two will be the whole plant Drying was a big mishap got condensation around day 10 of drying and it caused some mold 🤦‍♂️ right around the time i was going to cure! Found a peroxide soak that ill post butt it seemed to take off all the mold without affecting tricomb heads! Had to re dry for another week afterward i feel like the re dry maybe messed with the terps because it definitely never got the smell back like i thought but who knows slmost 3 weeks into cure coukd get better but doubt it

So the Northern Lights free seed from RQS ended up out living all 3 of the Dosidos’ “USA Premium” seeds that all died within the first week of sprouting, hopefully an explanation will be found for this as I have not been able to come to any conclusion as to what happened. Long live the lights amiright

Today 23/07/22 We are two days into week 5, never talked about nutrient or water’ problems I had some leaves with few yellow marks but very small one beside that I always saw my plants green and happy, here you can see the scrog I set up yesterday not sure if this will work better but I think will help the branches grow further from the others increasing the light they riceve! I made it myself I will order one for the next grown when I will get my grow box! The watermelon is already flowering but the northern light no so today I started feeding the plants with different preparations.. I kept on giving the grow booster with a bit of bloom booster and viceversa for the watermelon! If you have any tips anything you think I’m doing wrong or you see it’s not ok let me know I don’t grow in a box I grow between the curtains and my window so the environment wasn’t always the perfect one

We have Hurricane Erin approaching and are under a tropical storm warning with wind gusts of 30-40 MPH. While we won’t be directly hit by the storm, we will get the outer bands of heavy winds and rain. To protect my plants, I brought all the girls inside on Tuesday in preps for the storm. I inspected each one for bugs, rot or anything unusual. I found bud rot in a few spots on my Auto Candy and cut them off. 8/19 Auto Candy is 63 days from germination. Divine Seeds says give it 1-2 weeks more. With the hurricane approaching, we are expecting rain for most of the week. Given the bud rot I found and the pending weather conditions for the next couple of weeks, the remainder of the grow will be In the tent where I can control the environment.
