For this week I have added a small USB intake fan as my temps have been a little high and a small humidifier to bring to temp to 24-25 and humidity to 60 Sorted out water PH from 6.5-7.5 to 5.8 - 5.9. Tried to apply LST at the end of the week but removed due to being too early. Easy Bud - Due to red tint I have raised the light to its max high (Around 60cm above pot) started adding nutrients ( Hornet A+B 12ml of each for 6 liters) feeding 0.5l once a day. Quick one - Day one - 22/10 after 2 other attempts finally germinated.

So welcome to Week 9 of the Sweet Seeds Gorilla Girl XL Autoflowering grow! Unfortunately after two years of due diligence- I was finally infected with Covid 19 so I have gotten really behind with this diary. In Week 7, I switched from the Grow to the Bloom fertilizer at a rate of 2.5 mls per gallon. I am still watering every 4th day at 3 litres per plant or 0.75 of a litre per day per plant. This strain seems particularly hungry/greedy so by the end of Week 7, Iโ€™ve decided to fertilize with every watering instead of every other. Iโ€™m not increasing the dosage of the fertilizer but the frequency in which itโ€™s being given. Other than that the plants are doing fine through Weeks 7, 8 & 9 with the buds fattening up nicely, loads of wet to the touch resin and a super strong smell emanating from the tent even when itโ€™s closed! Thatโ€™s it for the past three weeks, Covid sucks and thank goodness harvest is just around the corner! Apologies for not offering up any further "momโ€™s tip of the week" but Iโ€™m just finishing up this diary for kicks at this point. Thanks.

Plants that are too far from an adequate light source will respond by accelerating stem growth in order to get closer to the lamp themselves. Especially when there are many other plants. A lack of lighting can easily cause overcrowding in a growing chamber, reducing the steady progression of your crop and the distance ratio between your bulbs and your plants. To address this problem, be sure to provide enough light to your plants to prevent stem growth. At the same time, you should not position your lights too close to your plants either since this would also result in an over-stretching of the stems and in some cases, the loss of your crop. In addition to the distance between the light source and the plant, the type of light you will use also affects the size of the stretching of your crop. The orange and red lights encourage stretching and result in thinner, larger stems. And conversely, blue light stimulates a growth of thicker stems and a smaller size. When a species is ready to enter the vegetative phase and undergo its most drastic stretching period, metal halide lamps can be used to deter far too long stems. THE HEAT Heat is another essential element that can determine the stretch size of your plants during vegetation. Temperatures above 27 degrees push the stems to lengthen more and more and will propel the potential of sativas to push as high as possible. Heat lamps that are positioned too close to plants create an intolerable environment that will grow large, soft plants that will potentially wobble until they fall and lose flowers in its fall. OTHER CAUSES OF STRETCHING There are multiple variables that can lead to the stretching of plants beyond what could normally be expected of the plant. Environmental stressors resulting from transplantation (when a plant passes from one pot to another) can cause the plant to return to shock. This will eventually trigger a reaction causing a stretch. Cannabis plants that are not grown in decent conditions or do not receive enough nutrients will respond in a variety of ways and this includes stretching. Crops that are not spaced far enough apart are likely to stretch to sting the light to other plants. Due to extreme proximity, the plants will fight among themselves to reach the light, forcing them to expand as much as possible throughout the crop. HOW TO CONTROL STRETCHING DURING FLOWERING Stretching during flowering, you guessed it, takes place when you move your plants from the vegetation stage to the flowering stage. This is a completely normal reaction, as your plants are preparing to bear the weight of their heads. Stretching of a plant at the beginning of flowering varies widely; some plants can double in height while others grow only a few centimetres. There are, however, two main variables that can give you at least an idea of how your plants are stretching during flowering, and how much. Here are these two variables: Variety: Genetics has the greatest impact on the size of your plant. In general, sativa varieties stretch more than indicas and tend to develop long, slender stems. Light: Some lights, such as HPS, are more likely to encourage stretching. In addition, great distances between your canopy and your lights will cause the plants to stretch as they try to get closer to the light source. Stretching during flowering usually lasts the first two weeks of the phase. To minimize stretching, keep your lights between 10 (for CFL) and 30 centimetres (for HID) of your canopy. Finally, choose indica varieties if you have a smaller growing space. HOW TO AVOID STRETCHING In many cases, you can expect your cannabis plants to stretch during the flowering phase. Keeping that in mind helps to make a plan in case your species ends up growing much more than you could have imagined. If the information is available, get information on the standard size of your species and compare it to the size of your growing space taking into account the necessary distances between the bulbs and the plants. TRAFFIC While outdoor crop operations benefit from natural air to naturally limit stretching, indoor crops must assume the maintenance of air circulation within a confined space. Basic ventilation is enough to help the cannabis stems strengthen and become thicker rather than too high. In this way, the plants continue to grow vigorously without reaching heights and at the same time, your tolerance ceiling. MANUAL INTERVENTION For growers who want to get their hands dirty, there are physical procedures that can be done to reduce stretching. Similar to the natural effect that the wind has on cannabis plants, manually bending the leaves and stems will cause tiny cracks in the plant's tissues that will cause the plant to focus on regenerating its wounds instead of its vertical growth. THE TOPPING Topping is a form of manual intervention on cannabis to influence its performance, shape or size. In essence, topping is a process in which a new node is cut, growing from the plant to reduce its size and create a "v"-shaped notch that will eventually form two heads. Topping may be an effective measure to combat stretching, but it is important not to do so when the flowering phase begins. In most cases, an abnormal stretch of cannabis plants will not completely destroy your crop. In fact, stretching can indeed help increase your performance. For growers with a growing operation large enough to contain tall plants, stretching can increase the total yield of a species with more vertical space for head formation. In both cases, stretching can easily be planned in advance and there are multiple solutions to help you with this problem which is all too common. May the force be with you ๐Ÿ’ช

7th week is here. They are good looking girls! Some weeks left to be finished ! Water 100 ml 2x a day per plant. Fertilization on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the same amount of water. Light schedule 20/4 with 600 W and ventilation goes on when the lamp works. Day 52: All good, some yellow leaves can be seen at the bottom of the biggest plant it matures quicker than the others I think it started using the energy out of the lower leaves to produce more buds. I will remove it later. Day 55: I couldn't come yesterday so my friend did water them. I am here now in the morning ing. Flowers developing nicely among the stamps. The bigges one start getting yellow it matures quicker than the other ones. Day 56: I removed unwanted yellow and dead leaves and also tied the plant from different angles to get more light. They look good now, they are spread. Plants are really nice and the flowers keep coming! Now it is gonna be better air flowing and the light also reach deeper parts at the bottom and all over the plants!

Woop happy with how the grow is coming along had fun trimming the girls down shitting myself at the same time though๐Ÿ˜ still on an 18/6 schedule as I didnโ€™t want to over stress the plants following defoliation and scrog . Scrog setting up wasnโ€™t too bad hope I done it right ๐Ÿ˜… the screen is slowly becoming very green haha .. Iโ€™ll keep looking around on the web to widen my knowledge but for now it seems all is good my plan is to switch to 12/12 starting week 6 and around this time I should look into adding bloom to feed the autos as Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™re in pre flower stage right now but if ever in doubt I shall ask Some cool photos to look at as well Happy growing โ˜ ๏ธ

All three plants are hermaphrodites, however, plants 1 and 2 are showing minimal signs of male with seeds developing only on lower nodes, while plant 3 looks mostly male with a few pistils only on the very top nodes. I've decided to pluck the seeds from plants 1 & 2 as they develop, and to toss plant 3 to make room for the other 2. It's not ideal and I plan to buy feminized seeds or clones for my next grow, but the bud I got the seeds from was actually really good so I'm going to try to take 1 and 2 to harvest.

Hey everyone! Another week down for the Mental Rainbows, and the two that have always shown that extra gear have absolutely exploded in terms of height and volume. What excites me most is that their stems have thickened up proportionally. They look invincible and ready to produce some seriously impressive colas. The other two, the ones that struggled from the very beginning, simply haven't kept pace. They're in good health overall, no complaints there, but they haven't grown like their sisters and inside the box they're clearly the underdogs. It is what it is. On the feeding side, EC has been nudged up by 0.1 as runoff was consistently reading below input values. On the environmental front, VPD is still something I'm actively managing as humidity keeps climbing beyond what the dehumidifier can handle alone. If it stays above 65% heading into the final weeks, a second unit will be joining the setup to protect bud quality and density at harvest. First pistils have started showing up, so bud formation is officially underway and Big Bud is now part of the stack to support it. Can't wait to update you all next week. Week 1 of veg, fast growth and plant is looking healthy. Will start feed in a few weeks along with some training. I am excited about this one. Cant wait to see the end result.

Hello friends! Our Poisonous friend moved to live, in more polka dots!) 5 liters .. I hope she will start to grow actively! and will be ready for the next transplant into a 40 liter pot in a couple of weeks .. as I said earlier .. I have big and interesting plans for this girl .. so don't miss the new diary ..

Hopefully the smoke is alright, these girls are tough to grow and I need redemption for sure. Buds look frosty, smell like grape gas, density of the flower is rough anywhere except the main tops.

Two phenotypes - one purple and one white/green. The purple was very difficult to train and resulted in a couple inadvertent breaks - luckily it was repairable. The other trained very well, very flexible and worked very good for SCROG. Both produced heavily and are beautiful. The purple tends to be much more fluffy, with very long pistil hairs - the longest of any grow I have done. The white was super dense, very crystally and sticky. It will be very interesting to see how they smoke. Also, the purple tended to do very well with some nute mistakes I made as well as fluctuating pH in my water feeding. The white did not do as well in this regard but was able to get to harvest fine. Wet bud weight is prior to trimming. The buds off of these plants were HUGE!!!! Plant #1: (Purple): Wet weight - 76.58oz prior to trim; 15 colas; Terps: White - 60%, Clear - 20%, Amber - 20% Plant #2: (White): Wet weight - 71.65oz prior to trim; 16 colas; Terps: White - 70%, Clear - 30%, After 3 days of drying, took them down to trim for my jars. After a few hours filled mostly quart jars 3/4 full but also tried an Infinity jar and a gallon mason jar to minimize the number of smaller jars. Dry weights into jars: Plant #1: 14.79 oz Plant #2: 11.76oz I did pull them after a day to dry rack them for 12 hours due to a little bit higher moisture content then I would have liked ( 70%rH). Re-jarred on 6/1/23 and now holding steady at around 60% rH. Cure Check In (Week 2): 6/10 - 6/12/23: rH ~ 63 - 66%. Daily air exposure & fanning. Very smelly. Looking good - another couple weeks and will be ready.

Project Blue Tent is our little experiment with four individual Blue Waffle F1 plants from Zamnesia, each documented separately from seed to harvest. All four ladies share the same environment, lighting, irrigation, nutrition and general care. And yet... They still manage to show their own little personalities. We're not just growing plants. We're getting to know them. And this week? Well... They're finally in flower. ๐ŸŒธ โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐ŸŒธ Week Eight โ€“ Welcome to Flower This week feels completely different. After seven weeks of vegetative growth, the Blue Tent has finally made the transition into flowering. And honestly... I think these girls were ready for it before I was. The entire tent has been growing at an incredible pace. In roughly one week, some of these plants have gained close to 30 cm, while simultaneously becoming denser, producing developing flowering sites and generally accelerating in every direction. They're not simply getting taller. They're building. Branches are extending. New growth is appearing everywhere. Flowering sites are developing rapidly. And the whole room suddenly feels like it has shifted into another gear. Looking back, I may have kept them in vegetation a little longer than I normally would. Seven weeks of vegetative growth is definitely on the longer side for the way I usually run these plants. But there's no point looking backwards now. The canopy is established. The plants are healthy. The screen has done its job. And now we're going to see what happens when these beautiful F1 ladies are finally allowed to flower. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ From SCROG to Flower The SCROG has been one of the most important parts of this entire vegetative phase. For weeks, we weren't trying to make the plants taller. We were trying to distribute their growth across the available space. Branches were gently guided beneath the screen, allowing the canopy to develop horizontally rather than allowing individual tops to dominate vertically. And looking at Plant A now... I'd say the mission was successful. The canopy is remarkably even. From above, it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell where one plant ends and another begins. That's exactly what we wanted. A relatively uniform surface where multiple flowering sites can develop under similar conditions rather than having a few dominant tops towering over everything underneath them. Of course, now comes the interesting part. Flowering stretch. And judging by what these plants have done during the last week... I have a feeling they're not planning on staying at this height for very long. ๐Ÿ˜… โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐ŸŒฟ Plant A โ€“ The Race Has Started Plant A is looking absolutely beautiful. The colour is one of the first things that catches my attention. That rich, healthy green we've been working toward is still there, and the plant looks full of energy. But her biggest characteristic this week is simple: Speed. She is moving. Fast. The transition into flower has clearly brought a completely different level of activity to the plant. New growth is appearing quickly, branches are extending, and the developing flowering sites are becoming increasingly obvious. At approximately 81 cm, she's already gained a considerable amount of height since the last report. And that's exactly why I'm watching this flowering stretch so closely. We have a very even canopy right now. I'd love to keep it that way. But with seven weeks of vegetative development behind these plants, combined with the warm and relatively similar day and night temperatures, I fully expect some stretching. The challenge now isn't creating the canopy. We've already done that. The challenge is seeing how well we can maintain it while the plants transition into full flowering. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐Ÿ’ก Starting Flower Under Strong Light We're also entering flower with a fairly ambitious lighting strategy. Rather than slowly easing the plants into lower light levels, we're starting flowering at approximately 800 PPFD. The idea is straightforward: The plants have developed a large, healthy canopy during vegetation, and now I want to see how they respond as flowering begins. I'm particularly interested in seeing whether maintaining strong light from the beginning can help encourage compact development despite the factors that may push these plants toward additional stretch. Will it keep them compact? Honestly... I'm not completely convinced. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Seven weeks of vegetation. Rapid growth. Warm days. Warm nights. And now the beginning of flowering. That's a lot of ingredients for stretch. But that's also what makes this project so interesting. We're not trying to predict everything perfectly. We're watching what the plants actually do. Pot Size: 8 L โ€ข ๐Ÿ“ Plant Height: approximately 81 cm One thing I'm particularly interested in during this phase is the temperature difference. There really isn't much of one. Day and night temperatures are currently sitting around the same level. That's something I'm watching carefully because plants can tend to stretch more when nighttime temperatures remain relatively warm. Combine that with the amount of vegetative growth these girls have already accumulated... And we may have an interesting few weeks ahead. For now, though, they're looking fantastic. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐Ÿฅฅ Feeding Program โ€“ A Small Step Forward With flowering officially underway, the nutrition has also moved forward slightly. The current recipe is: โ€ข Plagron Hydro A โ€” 2 ml/L โ€ข Plagron Hydro B โ€” 2 ml/L โ€ข Plagron Hydro Roots โ€” 1 ml/L โ€ข Plagron Power Buds โ€” 1 ml/L With pH adjustment as required. The resulting EC is currently approximately 2.09 mS/cm. This is a small progression from the previous vegetative recipe rather than a dramatic change. And that's intentional. The plants are hungry. They're growing incredibly quickly. They're entering flowering. But I still prefer making measured changes and then watching how the plants respond rather than changing everything at once. The plants have already given us some very clear feedback during this project. Beautiful colour. Fast growth. Strong structure. Healthy foliage. So we're continuing to listen. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐Ÿ’ง The Drip & Drainage System โ€“ Working Together One of the things I really want to highlight this week is the irrigation system because it has become such an important part of Project Blue Tent. The Mars Hydro drip irrigation and drainage setup isn't simply watering the plants. The two sides of the system are working together. The drippers deliver the nutrient solution directly into the coco. The solution moves through the substrate, supplying the root zone before exiting as runoff. That runoff is collected in the trays beneath the grow bags. From there, the drainage system channels the collected solution through a pipe toward the pump. The pump then moves the collected solution back toward the reservoir. So what we have is effectively a recirculating system, where irrigation and drainage work together as one continuous setup. And honestly... It's working wonders. The plants are drinking. The roots are being supplied consistently. The runoff is being removed automatically. And the entire process happens without me having to manually carry watering cans around the room every day. That's especially valuable now that the plants have entered flowering and their water demand is increasing. The system is quietly doing its job in the background. I get to spend my time watching the plants instead. And I much prefer that. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐ŸŒฟ Why This Week Feels Different There is something fascinating about watching a plant move from vegetation into flower. Yesterday you're looking at leaves and branches. Then suddenly... You start seeing the plant change its priorities. The growth becomes more pronounced. The flowering sites begin developing. The branches start extending. The structure you've spent weeks building begins transforming into something completely different. And because these plants were allowed to develop for seven weeks in vegetation, there is a lot of structure available for that transformation to work with. Plant A has a fantastic starting point. The canopy is even. The branches are well distributed. The stems are strong. The foliage is healthy. Now we simply have to see what she does with it. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐ŸŒฟ Plant A's Personality Plant A continues to be one of those phenotypes that makes me smile whenever I open the tent. She's vigorous. She's responsive. She's beautifully structured. And apparently... She's in a hurry. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Her development throughout vegetation was impressive, but the speed at which she's now transitioning into flower is something else entirely. There's a real sense of momentum around this plant. At the moment, she remains remarkably similar to her sisters, which is another fascinating observation from this project. Despite giving each phenotype its own diary, the four plants continue showing an incredible level of uniformity. From above, they're almost becoming one giant plant. But when you look closely... The little differences start appearing. This is probably the question I'm most curious about now. The plants were vegetated for seven weeks. They have grown extremely quickly during the last week. Day and night temperatures are currently very similar. And flowering has just begun. All of those factors make me expect some additional vertical growth. How much? That's what we're about to discover. I'm hoping the strong lighting and the structure we've created will help keep the canopy reasonably compact. But I'm not going to pretend I know exactly what will happen. Sometimes the plant gets the final vote. And these girls have already demonstrated that they have plenty of energy. So... Let's see what they do. โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๐Ÿ‘€ Looking Ahead The next couple of weeks are going to be fascinating. The major vegetative work is finished. The SCROG has been filled. The canopy has been cleaned. The plants have recovered. And now we're officially into flowering. Our main job from here is observation. Watching the stretch. Watching the developing flowers. Watching the colour. Watching the plants' response to the new nutritional program. And, of course, keeping that environment as stable as possible while the room becomes increasingly dense. Plant A has an excellent starting position. Now nature takes over. And considering how quickly she's been moving already...
