Harvest was done on a lovely summer day. Since summer was approaching, half of the harvest was hung upside down with the classic 60/60 and rest is stored in a wine cooler for drying. There’s also an oscillating fan below for airflow!

Animal Mints — Legends of the Frozen North Part 2 — Drying, Trimming & Preserving the Harvest Before we begin, once again, we want to apologize for dividing this harvest into multiple reports. We know it can feel like a long journey to follow week after week, but honestly, this is the only way we can properly document everything in the level of detail that these plants deserve. Harvesting, drying, trimming, curing, resin collection, storage methods, smoke reviews… all of these stages are part of the final medicine. And instead of rushing through it in one giant post, we prefer to slow down and share every step in the most educational and transparent way possible. So welcome back to the frozen north. This is Part 2. ⸻ Ten days later, the room had completely changed. The giant living plants we harvested in the previous report had now transformed into hanging medicine. Slowly drying in darkness, at around 18–20°C and roughly 60% humidity, allowing the moisture to leave the flowers gradually instead of forcing them dry too quickly. For the first couple of days, humidity was brought slightly lower to help remove excess external moisture, but after that, conditions stabilized again for the slow dry we love so much. And then came that moment every grower knows. That little click. That beautiful snap in the branches that tells you the plant is finally ready. Not too wet. Not too dry. Just right. And honestly… after seeing these girls hanging there for days, fully intact, massive branches swinging slowly in the dark, it was finally time to begin the next ritual. Trimming day. ⸻ Gloves on. Scissors ready. Trim bin prepared. Medicine beside us. Mr. Baggy supervising operations as always. One branch at a time, we carefully broke the plants down by hand, slowly removing each flower from the stems before shaping every nug individually. No rush. No machine trimming. No shortcuts. Just patience, resin, and respect for the plant. And these Animal Mints girls absolutely covered everything in trichomes. The moment trimming started, the gloves became sticky almost immediately. Thick resin building layer after layer until eventually it rolled naturally into small dark hash balls directly from the fingers and gloves themselves. This is one of those little moments we genuinely love about harvest season. That sticky resin coating the gloves is essentially concentrated trichome resin — cannabinoids, terpenes, waxes, oils, and all the aromatic compounds that make the plant what it is. With a little warmth from the hands and gentle pressure, it naturally rolls together into traditional finger hash. Simple. Ancient. Beautiful. And of course… we also continued our little Moroccan-style “drums” with the trim. By gently agitating the dried trim across the screens, we collected an absolutely beautiful amount of dry sift. Bright golden-yellow resin, soft and sandy, full of aroma and life. No exact scale numbers this time — this was more about enjoying the process than chasing statistics — but the quality spoke for itself immediately. Honestly, this type of hash is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the plant. A little inside a joint, slowly melting together with the flower, enhancing both flavor and depth without overpowering the experience. Pure magic. ⸻ Now let’s talk numbers. And honestly… these girls performed beautifully. Plant A gave us: 127g Plant B gave us: 247.8g Plant C gave us: 287.9g For dense, compact, heavily resinous flowers grown 12/12 from seed, this is an outstanding result in our eyes. Especially considering the morphology of these plants. This style of growing continues to impress us more and more every single run. The plants remain relatively compact vertically, but the flower production becomes incredibly efficient. Tight node spacing. Massive bud stacking. Heavy trichome production. Strong support structure. Dense flowers without absurd plant height. The frozen north delivered once again. And standing there in the studio holding entire branches in both hands… honestly, it was impossible not to smile. Happy grower moment. ⸻ Once trimming was complete, the next mission began: Preserving the terpenes. Because harvest means nothing if the cure is bad. So this time we decided to test multiple storage methods side by side. Some flowers went into traditional glass jars — still one of our absolute favorite methods for long-term curing. Stable, simple, reliable, and something we continue to trust deeply. Some flowers went into vacuum-style Zamnesia metal containers, where air can be partially removed while maintaining stable conditions inside. Others went into vacuum plastic containers with pressure-sealed lids. And finally, part of the harvest also went into Grove Bags, since the yield was simply too large not to use multiple preservation systems. Inside several containers we also added 62% humidity control packs. These packs are not “magic terpene creators” or anything like that — they simply help stabilize relative humidity inside the container, preventing flowers from becoming either too dry or too moist during curing. The flowers themselves were already dried correctly before storage. That part is important. Humidity packs are not there to fix bad drying. They are there to help maintain stability afterward. And honestly, one of the most exciting things now will be revisiting these exact same flowers months later to compare how each storage method affected aroma, texture, smoothness, and terpene expression over time. Because curing is alive. Medicine changes. Terpenes evolve. And that journey is part of the magic too. ⸻ One thing we also want to mention is how much easier trimming became with the curved point Zamnesia scissors. It might sound like a tiny detail, but those curved tips genuinely help reach deep into dense flowers without damaging structure, allowing cleaner trimming while preserving the natural shape of the buds. Small tools. Big difference. ⸻ By the end of this session, trays were full, jars were packed, hash was collected, gloves were destroyed by resin, and the studio smelled absolutely unreal. pine, diesel and earthy. Animal Mints is looking amazing. And honestly… looking at those giant trimmed branches in the studio lights, it was one of those moments where you simply stop for a second and appreciate the entire journey from seed to harvest. Because this is more than growing plants. This is preservation of flavor. Preservation of resin. Preservation of time, patience, and intention. ⸻ But we are still not done. Not even close. The next report will be the final chapter of this frozen journey: the smoke review, terpene breakdown, curing evolution, flavor analysis, effects, and our complete final thoughts on Animal Mints from seed to harvest. And trust us… This girl still has a lot to say. ⸻ Huge thanks once again to everyone following this journey: Zamnesia for the genetics, Plagron,FOG Lighting, the gear sponsors, the community, GrowDiaries, the growers supporting from day one, the silent followers, the commenters, the critics, the legends, the OGs… And of course, thank you to everyone taking the time to read these reports week after week. Added an humidifier to keep a constant humidity level of 55% in the grow room. The temperature just outside the grow room is 10C, and even more outside is 0C!! It's a miracle I can keep a temperature over 20C inside the room ;) UPDATE: TOPPED! A nice cut just over the 3rd node. She’s still kinda small and fat, and this is because of the light that was too close to the plant last week. Now she’s 60cm far away from that. Because of the top, I gave her 2ml of Voodoo Juice to help her radicate a little bit more. Let’s see what happens!

My second growroom is built and the girls have moved in. This new strain combines two well-received parents, Juanita la Lagrimosa (Spanish for "Juanita the Tearful") and Royal Highness, which are themselves genetic hybrids of other precursor strains: Juanita the Tearful from Queen Mother and a Mexican-Afghan blend; Royal Highness from Dance Hall and Respect 13. On and on the strains date back in agricultural time, each new variety with its own unique smell, taste, color, high and medical benefit. However, in the past decade, a goal of all this tinkering has been what some producers are starting to call “Royal Respect” with the soul of marijuana's benefits going toward both body and mind. Painkiller XL is notable for its near-equal representation of 6 percent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and 7 percent cannabidiol (CBD), achieved by a seed that's 70 percent sativa and 30 percent indica. While the sativa variety of cannabis is widely known for producing more of a mental, cerebral high, and indica has a reputation for contributing more toward its physical high, other factors are more important to consider: THC is the compound given most of the credit for that head high, with CBD takes the credit for marijuana's many proven medicinal benefits, which range vastly from relieving pain, anxiety, migraines, fibromyalgia and even mad cow disease to easing many of the most deleterious symptoms of AIDS, diabetes, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease. These are just a handful of the dozens of ailments marijuana is being prescribed to combat by doctors across the globe and in more than a dozen U.S. states. Cooperatives at medical marijuana dispensaries have been at the forefront of providing CBD-rich cannabis buds and oils for their patients, who undoubtedly appreciate being able to purchase the strain best-suited to ease their particular ailments. This new strain joins others rich in both CBD and THC like Euphoria, Royal Medic, Medical Mass and Danceworld that seek to actually not necessarily downplay cannabis' psychoactive effects in favor of optimizing its healing role, but instead equalize the two. According to the California-based Steep Hill Cannabis Analysis Laboratory, this equalization brings to the cannabis user not just the physically healing aspects, but also the spiritually and psychologically healing benefits as well. There are other strains with very little THC and more CBD than Painkiller XL , but rare are such splendid balances. Producers of this strain say it produces a considerable amount of pain relief, with a mild, relieving mental euphoria. With a flowering time of eight weeks, the Painkiller XL seed can produce 525 to 575 grams per plant indoors. Inside, the dried yield is 400 to 450 grams per plant. Inside, the plants average in height at about 31.5 inche (80 cm); outside, the average height is about 53 inches (135 cm), with harvest time at the end of September. THC: 9% CBD: 9% Yield Indoor: 500-550gr m2 Yield Outdoor: 500-550 grams per plant dried Height Indoor: 60 - 100 cm Height Outdoor: 120 - 150 cm Flowering time: 8 weeks Harvest month: Late September Genetic background: Juanita la Lagrimosa x Royal Highness Type Sativa: 75%; Indica: 25% Effect: Physical, clear high. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2017-10-20. Week 6 day 3. Late update. The girls are in there final 12 liters autopots and have moved into my newfixed second growroom. The girls is growing fine and have been Fimmed. Girl 1 is 26 cm and Nr2 is 16 cm tall. Added videos and pics. Grow room Nr2 is 1.75 meters x 1,05 meters and its 1.92 meters high. Im using 1x 140 watt Apollo led 4 and 1x 370 watt Apollo led 10.

🌱 Week 10 Veg – The Final Stretch Before Flowering! 🌱 This might just be the last week of veg, and what a journey it’s been! The garden is thriving, each plant showing off its unique structure and character. But the big news this week? A nutrient program switch! 💧✨ I’ve transitioned from the Aptus Holland Organic-Mineral program to the Clean program, setting them up for a smooth ride into flower. This move is all about prepping the plants for peak efficiency in their next phase—getting them used to their long-term diet early. 💡 So, what’s in the mix now? Let’s break it down: 🔹 Regulator – The foundation. This ensures optimal nutrient uptake, strengthens cell walls, and helps plants handle environmental stress like a champ. Plus, it stabilizes pH from the get-go, which is why it always goes in first. 🔹 System Clean – Think of this as a reset button for the root zone. Keeps irrigation lines clear, prevents biofilm buildup, and ensures nutrients are delivered without obstruction. A must-have for maintaining a pristine growing environment. 🔹 RO Water Conditioner – With a mix of rainwater and dehumidifier-collected water, this ensures the right balance of minerals while neutralizing any potential issues. Hydration is key, but quality hydration is the real game-changer. 🔹 All-In-One Liquid – This is where the power punch comes in. A full-spectrum nutrient solution that keeps everything in balance, providing essential elements for vigorous growth as we near the flip. 💭 Why switch now? The pellets that were feeding the soil are officially depleted, meaning the Clean program takes over full-time. This ensures a seamless transition into flower without any shocks or deficiencies. Smart planning makes for stronger plants and better yields! 🌿💪 🚀 Other highlights this week: • One of the plants is getting some light bondage training—a little stress now means big rewards later. Let’s just hope she’s a female and not a sneaky male in disguise! 🤞 • Every plant is looking unique and fantastic, showing off their potential. 🌟 Next Up? If all goes to plan, flower time is coming! Get ready for spectacular structure, stretching, and the next evolution of these beauties! Big love to the community, growers, supporters, haters, and legends—we keep pushing forward! 🙌💚 Genetics - Mentha De Croco https://terpyz.eu/products/menta-de-croco-fern-type?_pos=1&_sid=e9237cbcb&_ss=r DogDoctorOfficial Discount Codes @ terpyz.eu - DOCTOR 15% off Nutrition - @aptusholland https://aptus-holland.com/ Led Power @ F.O.G. It's week 8 and all she is looking great as she progresses deeper into senescence! She is really packing on the frost ❄️and her Orange Cream Candy 🍊🍦🍭 fragrance just keeps getting stronger!!! It wont be long before we harvest these beautiful flowers!!! Also, I realized my BlueLab Conductivity Meter has the option to switch to EC. Since EC is the most accurate way to measure the nutrient concentration in a solution, I will now be measuring and reporting EC readings rather than PPM.

This strain has been wonderful from jump 👏 all seed made it and all came out looking gorgeous with a very tropical berry smell to them the taste I get from them is tropical although most turned purple in the end after hanging them up I could see a red tint to some of the buds 😁 but the purple kinda took over its fun growing with diaries and can't to get my next strain 8n the grow and share with grow diaries
