As a new grower I spent a lot of time looking for the best option for germination.
I placed my seed (blue dream auto 420FB) in a glass of water (filtered 0ppm) and left in darkness for 16hours.
I made up a solution for my rock wool cube to soak (advanced nutrients, sensi A & B 0.25ml. PPM of 270. PH of 5.8) soaked my cube and in and popped genie (dreamy genie.) Making sure crown was facing the correct way.
After one day she made her first appearance. Looking a little sad. I over watered or fed too early.
Started off a little slow due to my over watering. I lowered the PPM a little also. She is doing Ok so far I think!
She is starting to get her second set of true leaves.
I'm a little worried about over watering so I have been giving her 3ml of water when she feels a little dry.
I'm only seeing one small root tip. So I've ordered some Advance nutrients piranha and also some voodoo juice.
I'll be giving genie some of both when they arrive, along side her 0.25ml/l Sensi grow A & B.

Day 8: advanced nutrients voodoo arrived. Made a new 1l feed 0.25ml sensi grow A & B and 2ml of voodoo juice. Still waiting on my piranha to be delivered.
Voodoo juice update: (day 8) so voodoo juice arrived today... WOW. I gave her a little feed earlier, she had 1 root protruding out of the bottom of the rock wool about 0.2cm another about 0.1cm. That was it. I have just checked her a few hours later and there's now 5!! The other two have just about doubled in size. Seriously impressed. Hopefully piranha will live up to its name!
Sorry about my excitement, I know it's just a few tiny roots. But it's my first grow and I'm pumped 😝😂!
Day 9 - shes growing nicely. Roots are also getting bigger. Just gave her some more feed. Seems to be drinking a lot more! I feel I may have over done the watering a little. It doesn't drop though, so I'm hoping I'll get away with it!

Humidity VS airflow for 8 day old seedling, which is more important?
My seedling is in a propagator with 60-65% humidity. Outside the propagator is at around 40%. I'm waiting on my humidifier. I'm going to raise it with a wet towel and containers of water. Should she be in tent?
Hey there bluedreamer, your seedling is totally fine under those conditions , there won’t be a big difference but for optimal you can raise the rh a but. It doesn’t need to go into the tent probably for the next ten days . Hope this helps ! 🚀
For got to start a new week! So here it is.
Day 9: all is well. Growing ok. Roots getting bigger. Voodoo juice has helped a lot. Still waiting for the piranha.
New home - I saw another grower had a similar set up. Looked like a good transition before the 20L DWC. I decided to add a cover over the water to stop the light.
To make the cover I simply outlined the lid, cut some thick cardboard with a pumpkin cutter and then wrapped with tinfoil to hopefully stop water getting to the cardboard. Drilled some holes and put in the tubes for the air stones. Making sure they are a tight fit.
If all goes well she will be in there tomorrow 🙂.
Day 10: I've now moved her into her new home. Very nervous as there is more potential for error!
Piranha arrived so I've also added that into the new mini res. 0.25ml/l sensi A & B. 2ml/l voodoo juice & piranha. PH 5.9. Ppm 162.
Day 11: a little anxious about the new set up. Ppm was 172 jumped to 212. She hasnt perked up as much as I think she normally does after 2 hours of light. I feel ppm jump could be due to new hydroton (it was soaked & cleaned.) Asked for some advice on changing the res as water my have evaporated, nutes unused or hydroton issue.
Day 11 PM: I was told I had a cal mag deficiency by someone that's helped me out loads! So I bought some AN sensi cal mag extra. While buying cal mag the salesman sold me some AN microbial munch for 1/3 of retail price (7.99 for 1l) it was rude not to!
New res
.4ml/L sensi grow A & B
2ml/L voodoo & piranha
.5ml/L sensi cal mag extra
.15ml/L AN microbial munch
PPM: 274 - PH: 5.8
Had loads off issues with this grow. Mainly due to watering. Over watering! Had a cal mag deficiency. So started to supplement that. She started to pick up. But she ended up drowning a little again so went all droopy. I too her out of the mini res as the rockwool kept getting saturated. I tried her in my 20l set up. But again the rockwool got too wet. The water level was 2 inches below the net pot. I was really struggling with the rockwool. She really wasn't looking great this week.

Hi, my ppm has risen from 172 to 212 in about 24hrs. Should I change res? Shes had lights on for about 2hrs and not perked up as much as I think she normally does by this point. Hydroton is obviously new. It was soaked. Could that be why?
Ph is within the ph perfect range.
Hi again Blue Dreamer , so what i'm seeing is a micronutrient deficiency, you can tell it's magnesium from the yellowing on the serrated edges of the leafs. In hydro you need to add cal mag in every rez ! never grow without calmag ! Hope this helps ! 🚀
After my issues with rockwool she was dying. I was so sick of overwatering due to the rockwool becoming too saturated. I decided to remove the rockwool as a last attempt to save her. I carefully ripped away at the rockwool. I managed to remove about 90% of it.
I then made a new mini dwc set up. Using foam as a collar I placed her roots straight in. Within a few hours her top leaves had picked up. Today shes looking much better. Still not 100% but she will make it!
Before I was at this point yesterday I thought she was a goner. I decided to start a green crack auto (420FBs) I soaked her for 18 hours. She has opened slightly and had her tap root showing a little. I have put her in rockwool for now. As soon as her tap root is out she will be going straight into another mini DWC set up without rockwool! Wife and I decided she will be called "Pixie"
No signs of her out of the rockwool. I will keep you all updated!

Day 23 genie (Blue dream): looking a little sad today. Shes doing well considering all the overwatering issues. Still growing new leaves. When I put her in this DWC I decided to up nutes, similar to what AN recommends, but still lower. As I was still seeing deficiency, even after I gave cal mag. I think I'm seeing a little nute burn in new growth due to her feeding on older leaves as well. Hopefully this will sort its self out. Also starting to get a very slight weed smell when very close!
Day 0 pixie: After about 24hrs in rockwool she has showed up! Feeding a very light sensi grow A & B, cal mag, piranha and voodoo. 270 PPM. 6.0 PH. As soon as that tap root is out of the bottom I'm taking her out of the rockwool and putting her right into DWC! I refuse to have rockwool saturation issues again 😂.

Its normal when the seed dont get placed deep enough in the media for friction to remove it. I'd wait a few days then moisten the helmet and carefully remove.
To defoliate or not? New growth is coming in even on stems. She is tiny due to watering issues. Would it help if I removed the really unhealthy leaves? I tried to put her in dwc and kept getting oversaturated rockwool. (Water 2" below netpot)
Anyway removed her from rockwool....
It is indeed! Shes starring to perk up already. I can see the damaged leaves becoming greener. I'm really annoyed that I put all my trust into "Ph perfect" it's all bs 😂. Thabk you for the sound advice. Sorry I didn't take it right away!
The PH was super unstable in that little res, I decided to move her after an hour the ph had gone up a fair amount. Shes in a foam collar, nothing else so I just drilled a hole in the new tank to fit the collar and popped her in 😝. This one is about 8L. Ph has stayed over night! EC has gone up by 0.02 so I think I'm looking good.

I have a ph of 6.5. Which is "apparently" perfectly acceptable with advanced nutrients PH perfect technology. It's high I know. I've been pondering the same thing. But due to the nutes being chelated its supposedly fine upto a ph of around 8 I believe.
Definitely some serious issues. I just dont know how to resolve them! I've looked at images of deficiency symptoms and potassium is looking fitting also.

Thanks for taking the time to help out mate. I'm really stumped as to how to help her. If it were you plant (unlikely it would look like this, I'm sure!) What would you do? I believe it's a huge no no adjusting PH with AN, so is there anything else youd try? I'm wanting to save PH until the last think if I can. Unless you think I 10000% should be adjusting.
Thank you. I thought that but wasnt sure if she was putting energy into fixing them or not. I was torn between the two. I'm not sure of what to do to help her. I'm a new grower. She looks like she needs more nitrogen, but I'm unsure if it will upset her more giving her the extra N.
After trusting ANs "PH perfect" stupidly... I was given some really great advice from a few great growmies on here. I decided to PH down to 5.8.... ITS WORKING! thank you all who gave me the advice! Shes now showing signs of recovery! Shes suddenly started showing signs of flower! I cant decide if this is a good or bad thing! I also decided to move her into a 8L res as I was really struggling with PH. It was jumping up .4 within an hour... anyone know how to help out with that by any chance?
Due to all the rockwool issues I had with my main plant I was very eager to get my next out of it ASAP... so it's done! Shes also in a mini res. 1L.. she will be going into the 20L res when it is time. She has a little purple on leaf tips but It seems to be going with growth.

Genie is starring yo pick herself up a little. Seeing some lift in the top leaves again. The bottom leaves look really bad. I'd like to get rid of them, but dont think its wise right now.

So my recovering plant (way too small) is starting to show signs of flower. I want to delay it. If I keep a 20/4 light schedule and hold off on bloom nutes, would this work?
I stupidly trusted ANs PH perfect, this is what I got.. serious PH issues. (On the mend now though!)
I don’t think there’s much that you can do for an auto. They match to the beat of their own drum haha. I have a mystery seed that turned out to be an auto and it just started flowering last week and she’s only 6 inches tall or so. They flower when they want, essentially, so I don’t think there’s much that you can do. Mine was/is under 24 hours of light as well, and you can’t really add more haha and less light will only keep it smaller and won’t influence when it actually begins to flower. That’s ruderalis genetics for ya!

Yes mate there is white hairs. I've taken another photo and put it on my diary. Does this mean shes going to need bloom nutes? Also have I missed the stretch period as well? Sorry for all the questions.. I'm new 😝👍👊
you cannot delay it......... she was so stressed thast she started kinda " emergency flowering"
start some photoperiods in your dwc,,,, those are very hard to hit,,,
