After my issues with rockwool she was dying. I was so sick of overwatering due to the rockwool becoming too saturated. I decided to remove the rockwool as a last attempt to save her. I carefully ripped away at the rockwool. I managed to remove about 90% of it.
I then made a new mini dwc set up. Using foam as a collar I placed her roots straight in. Within a few hours her top leaves had picked up. Today shes looking much better. Still not 100% but she will make it!
Before I was at this point yesterday I thought she was a goner. I decided to start a green crack auto (420FBs) I soaked her for 18 hours. She has opened slightly and had her tap root showing a little. I have put her in rockwool for now. As soon as her tap root is out she will be going straight into another mini DWC set up without rockwool! Wife and I decided she will be called "Pixie"
No signs of her out of the rockwool. I will keep you all updated!
Sorry about the delayed update.
Day 23 genie (Blue dream): looking a little sad today. Shes doing well considering all the overwatering issues. Still growing new leaves. When I put her in this DWC I decided to up nutes, similar to what AN recommends, but still lower. As I was still seeing deficiency, even after I gave cal mag. I think I'm seeing a little nute burn in new growth due to her feeding on older leaves as well. Hopefully this will sort its self out. Also starting to get a very slight weed smell when very close!
Day 0 pixie: After about 24hrs in rockwool she has showed up! Feeding a very light sensi grow A & B, cal mag, piranha and voodoo. 270 PPM. 6.0 PH. As soon as that tap root is out of the bottom I'm taking her out of the rockwool and putting her right into DWC! I refuse to have rockwool saturation issues again ๐.
Thanks for reading ๐๐
Humidity VS airflow for 8 day old seedling, which is more important?
My seedling is in a propagator with 60-65% humidity. Outside the propagator is at around 40%. I'm waiting on my humidifier. I'm going to raise it with a wet towel and containers of water. Should she be in tent?
Hey there bluedreamer, your seedling is totally fine under those conditions , there wonโt be a big difference but for optimal you can raise the rh a but. It doesnโt need to go into the tent probably for the next ten days . Hope this helps ! ๐
Hi, my ppm has risen from 172 to 212 in about 24hrs. Should I change res? Shes had lights on for about 2hrs and not perked up as much as I think she normally does by this point. Hydroton is obviously new. It was soaked. Could that be why?
Ph is within the ph perfect range.
Hi again Blue Dreamer , so what i'm seeing is a micronutrient deficiency, you can tell it's magnesium from the yellowing on the serrated edges of the leafs. In hydro you need to add cal mag in every rez ! never grow without calmag ! Hope this helps ! ๐
Its normal when the seed dont get placed deep enough in the media for friction to remove it. I'd wait a few days then moisten the helmet and carefully remove.
To defoliate or not? New growth is coming in even on stems. She is tiny due to watering issues. Would it help if I removed the really unhealthy leaves? I tried to put her in dwc and kept getting oversaturated rockwool. (Water 2" below netpot)
Anyway removed her from rockwool....
It is indeed! Shes starring to perk up already. I can see the damaged leaves becoming greener. I'm really annoyed that I put all my trust into "Ph perfect" it's all bs ๐. Thabk you for the sound advice. Sorry I didn't take it right away!
The PH was super unstable in that little res, I decided to move her after an hour the ph had gone up a fair amount. Shes in a foam collar, nothing else so I just drilled a hole in the new tank to fit the collar and popped her in ๐. This one is about 8L. Ph has stayed over night! EC has gone up by 0.02 so I think I'm looking good.
Thanks for extra advice man! It's really helpful to know im back on track!
Awesome thanks for the follow! I'll be putting some pictures of her recovery on a little later today!
Thanks highroller!
I have a ph of 6.5. Which is "apparently" perfectly acceptable with advanced nutrients PH perfect technology. It's high I know. I've been pondering the same thing. But due to the nutes being chelated its supposedly fine upto a ph of around 8 I believe.
Definitely some serious issues. I just dont know how to resolve them! I've looked at images of deficiency symptoms and potassium is looking fitting also.
Thanks for clarification on the nitrogen!
Thanks for taking the time to help out mate. I'm really stumped as to how to help her. If it were you plant (unlikely it would look like this, I'm sure!) What would you do? I believe it's a huge no no adjusting PH with AN, so is there anything else youd try? I'm wanting to save PH until the last think if I can. Unless you think I 10000% should be adjusting.
Thank you. I thought that but wasnt sure if she was putting energy into fixing them or not. I was torn between the two. I'm not sure of what to do to help her. I'm a new grower. She looks like she needs more nitrogen, but I'm unsure if it will upset her more giving her the extra N.
So my recovering plant (way too small) is starting to show signs of flower. I want to delay it. If I keep a 20/4 light schedule and hold off on bloom nutes, would this work?
I stupidly trusted ANs PH perfect, this is what I got.. serious PH issues. (On the mend now though!)
I donโt think thereโs much that you can do for an auto. They match to the beat of their own drum haha. I have a mystery seed that turned out to be an auto and it just started flowering last week and sheโs only 6 inches tall or so. They flower when they want, essentially, so I donโt think thereโs much that you can do. Mine was/is under 24 hours of light as well, and you canโt really add more haha and less light will only keep it smaller and wonโt influence when it actually begins to flower. Thatโs ruderalis genetics for ya!
Hey the 8th, thanks for your advice!
Yes mate there is white hairs. I've taken another photo and put it on my diary. Does this mean shes going to need bloom nutes? Also have I missed the stretch period as well? Sorry for all the questions.. I'm new ๐๐๐
you cannot delay it......... she was so stressed thast she started kinda " emergency flowering"
start some photoperiods in your dwc,,,, those are very hard to hit,,,
@CRiSPrGrow, is it also known as peroxide?
Cool I may add an extra .25ml/L. I'd like her to be getting as much as possible, but obviously not over doing it ๐. She should pick up within a few days right?
@BlueDreamer1, you probably did well on the dosage although you can probably go up a bit aswell. H2O2 is hydrochloric acid, which is basically the opposite of what you have now, in fact it kills biologicals. both are additives, and both do essentially the same thing : break up nutrients, keep the tank clear of bad biologicals.
@CRiSPrGrow, I've just looked into h2O2. Sounds like it could be beneficial! I'll probably finish up what I've got then give h2O2 a shot as I figure it will be way cheaper than what I'm getting. Also will reduce the risks of harmful bacteria far more than what I'm using!
so you got abunch of tips from the community,,, the look of the plant is acombination of some issues,, alsways checck the PH and ec.... ( as the other growers told)
and dial back the lights to 50 percent.. your girl will shine again

tthis is avery helpful site... just look for dwc
the good thing is,,, hemp is resiliant.... and she will come back ......
@Mrs_Larimar, also... wow! You're profile is amazing! You're a serious grower! I hope one day to achievied that! Thank your for sharing your experience with me!
@Mrs_Larimar, I now hate rockwool with a passion. It was a nightmare getting it out as well! I will never use it in DWC again.
I opted for DWC for the control factor. I read and read for ages before jumping in. It seemed like a more difficult process, but with many benefits to it. I opted for AN nutrients thinking it will make my life super easy and ruling PH out as an issue. How wrong I was. I also decided that I wouldnt be overwatering in DWC, that would eliminate that issue. So in my mind it was going to be easier.
I've mastered my mixes and know what it's going to end up at after mixing 4 products +/- 30 ppm (0.060 EC) I'm a fast learner ๐. Its just learning the correct information that seems to be the issue! The whole when to feed was the hardest decision... so so many opinions ๐
I took your advice on my mix it's now 5.79PH and 1146EC (572PPM) I went to the store and bought some proper PH down.
My lights on 50% 18" away. Let's hope she picks up now! When do you think I should be on 100% on my p1000?
Hopefully I've learned enough to do well with the green crack I've germinated! I plan on running my BD in the small coffee jar until harvest for my "development" ๐ I'll put my green crack in the 20L dwc when shes ready. Using knowledge I've gained from my BD!
Again thank you for all of your help. Its greatly appreciated! You've helped out massively! It's so great to have a place to discuss these things. So sorry, I've gone on and on ๐
@Mrs_Larimar, I have also learned something else... my zero filter (puts tap water at 0 ppm) so I figured it would be fine to use for my DWC... well I was wrong. I could not, for the life of me get my PH to stay at 5.5-6.2 within 15 minutes it was over 6.2. So I decided I would try to get it stable at 5.5 then put it into my res, add nutes etc. As the last time it was SO unstable in the res after ph to 5.7 then add nutes... well I ended up putting 1.9 EC of ph down in.. I was doing it for ages then decided to check EC. Then it hit, something is seriously off. Decided to buy some DI water from the store added nutes. Checked ph, WAY off. Decided that I need to order some calibration solution for my ph pen, to rule that out. But I'm thinking it could be light burn. Well some of the damage anyway. I've dropped my lights to 40% put her on an 18/6. She had No stretch as a seedling, SUPER tight noses. Then the damage she has now... it's been on my mind all day haha. Its clicked that you also mentioned about my lights as well... I'm seriously thinking light burn is my issue. Ph could be off, but I suspect my pen needs calibrating so I can't say its definitely that. The thing with my water is super wierd... but the ph pen being off also could explain that.
