Growing strong this week and they look lovely. Only added recharge to the soil as I feel it will be ok for the first month or so. The lights were on full blast. I am writing this commentary and documenting this on week 3. In hindsight, I wonder if I should have lowered the intensity of the lights and maybe raised them a bit?

This week the rate of growth increased dramatically. However they aren’t stretching very well. Unsure whether it is the soil lacking nutrients or the light being too intense or close. I monitor the environment with a pulse one monitor and I only got vpd dialed in to 1.0 at the end of week 2. Before the monitor showed up my vpd was high (1.8-2.0). The stems are already very thick and very hard to bend. The distance betweeen nodes is rarely more than an inch. Is this normal? Am I smothering them with the light?

On day 19 preflowers started to show. Also a moderate herby smell coming from them. Nothing getting past carbon filter yet.

I was wondering if I stunted my plants’ growth by having my lights at max intensity right off the bat. I also didn’t have vpd dialed in til 2nd week. Organic soil.My pulse one has said 96 light intensity since I got it..should I be lowering the intensity of bulbs til flower?

To meshe looks fine and 76 cm from canopy is agood distancce for seedlings.if she grows to bushy or with to short internodes due genetics, just dimm the light to 75 percent and you will see abig difference. happpy growing

Hello all! Quick question..I planted my seeds in coast of Maine stonington blend organic soil.I also bought the fox farm trio big bloom, tiger bloom and grow big. Am I able to add these nutrients to the soil without over feeding the plants and when should I use them?

Based on the ingredients in the stonington blend it seems like you can get away with just plain watering until these autoflowers kick into their blooms cycle. Autos prefer a light feed in the beginning. The soil you’re using should have enough food in it to get you past the vegetative period. Once you get into the bloom cycle you can start to feed your girls the Fox Farm bloom nutrients at 1/4-1/2 strength. If you have a ppm/ec pen try to keep it around 350-700ppm for your very first feed. I’ve learned over a long time you can always add more if you start light but if you go heavy you can’t reverse that easily and with autos you risk stunting them with something too strong at first.

This week begins the flowering phase....or so I believe. When I saw the preflowers I performed one last training session on them and they recovered the next day. I will now let the colas stretch as they see fit as they are pretty spread out I don’t think further training is required.....but this is my first time and I could be wrong LOL 😂

This week I installed a HLG 300L R-Spec for lighting in place of my Mars Hydro TS1000. I put the Mars hydro in my other tent for seedlings and early veg. Started using biobizz organic nutrients.

This week the buds started to swell up! They are packing on the frost and gaining rate at a pretty quick rate. They went from popcorn sized to being about the size of an ear of corn

This week the flowers continued to develop and swell. At about week 8, day 5 they really cranked up the smell. I can’t tell if it’s the Girl Scout or Bruce Banner but they got extremely skunky seemingly over-night!!!! Keeping a close eye on the pistils and trichs on the Bruce banner as it’s getting close to having most of the pistils red and curled in so the time is near! The GSC and GG however, need a couple more weeks at least!

So is it normal for the girls to really crank up the funk over-night? I have a couple plants that went from low smell to extreme skunk literally overnight! It even gets past my carbon filter I can very faintly smell it in my exhaust ducting but not enough to worry about! LOL

There is definitely a point in the plants flowering stage where it amps up on trichome and essential oil production, dependent on strain this can happen anywhere from Mid flower to the very last week. Some strains STINK. some never get that smelly when growing and some take a dry or a good cure to bring it out
