She grew another 2” this week. Flipped to flower 3 days ago. Using dehumidifier to lower humidity down to 45-50 now. Increased nutrient dosage by 2x over the last week and will start adding Advanced Nutrients Big Bud next week. Expecting to see her stretch for a couple of weeks now that flowering has started. I also had a Master Kush plant in the tent but it ended up being a male so I took it out. Remaining plants are all confirmed females.
I’m a bit behind on my updates. It’s just under 3 weeks of flowering. The plant is very leafy so decided to do a final defoliation today. Upon inspection I found that many of the leaves have tiny white specs. Looking under the leaves I see tiny black specs. Not sure what pests these are but I gave them all a blast of soapy water. Between the defoliation and the soap spray, I’m hoping I’ve taken care of the pests and not harmed the plant. TBD…
Ok some bad news. This plant has spider mites. I’ve noticed tiny white specs on some of the leaves recently and it’s been spreading. After closer examination I’ve noticed it slowly spread so I’ve taken action. This plant is in a tent with 3 others. The others are showing very early signs but not as much as this one. I’ve been applying a home made insecticide and more drastically, I’ve moved it outside from the rest of the plants. As it’s late spring, this is a bad time to bring a flowering plant outside. I’m still trying to manage the 12/12 light cycle by giving the plant 12 hours of daylight and covering it in a shed for the remaining 12 hours. I don’t know if this will work but it’s worth a shot. The insecticide seems to be working well. It’s not 100% yet but much better. Time will tell…
It’s been outside for about 2 week now. Spider mites have definitely decreased but I’m still checking and spraying regularly when I find any. The pistils have turned red much faster than the same plant I’ve kept indoors. Likely due to the light and environment changes. Expecting it’ll be ready in 3ish weeks. Will be putting a large cardboard box over it at night, hoping to help prevent any light issues, keeping it at 12/12.
