When these girls first popped up! Sadly I didn’t keep good track of when they popped and showed her first leaves, but it’s roughly a week. Growing in hempy buckets, so far no nutrients in week 1. Growing them under a HLG 135W Quantum Board Kit. Now kept in a pet proof tent so that the dog doesn't eat these seedlings as well as the other ones he got!
Both plants are taking their sweet time during the seedling phase. This is week two since beginning germination, about 13 days since they both popped. They popped super quickly. I have a low humidity problem, so I put a towel in a jar as a water source to evaporate and hopefully add more humidity to the grow. Temperature is high, but I’m worried about turning the fan on too high and lowering humidity too much. This is my first grow that survived a pet so I’m experimenting after a ton of reading.
Blue Toof is a little smaller than her sister, but they both have two set of true leaves.
I've got my tent in my master closet with the door closed (The noise would annoy the SO) The temperature stays around 81, but the humidity even with my ghetto humidifier is only up to 33%. I do have an AC vent in there, but worry directing it would bring humidity down. What do?
If the air where you live is naturally dry, there's very little you can do, unless you do a closed room grow. Low humidity won't be a problem, so I would worry about the temperatures first, although 81°F is nothing to worry about; but if you want to lower them, go ahead with the AC.
Second, as the plants grow and their water intake grows, the water they transpire will increase and so will the humidity of the tent.
Big week this week, lots of growth on her. I’ve lowered the lights significantly to be less than 6 inches away. Also added Armor SI and a circulating fan for breeze. So far looking really good and I’m looking forward to seeing what she does next week.
She has gotten so big, I think the roots hit the hempy resovoir and started putting on some height. Both girls are starting to smell a little bit when I open the tent, but nothing the fan and carbon filter can’t help with. I’m thinking that hempy may not be the way to go for Mephisto seeds, but we’ll see when she grows up. The newly added fan bulked up her stem quite a bit too, which maybe inhibited her height. Learning a ton with this grow I’m looking forward to applying to future grows.
Went out of town for the weekend and my SO was in charge of making sure the ladies got water. Did a flush in week 5 to try and solve some PH issues (I was misinformed about the proper PH for hempy) Trying to raise the humidity, but the rag in a jar in front of a fan isn’t cutting it. She’s starting to smell pretty good and growing a couple of nodes already (no bud just pistils) Did some light trimming to open her up and get light to the lower nodes. I realized last week that a 5gal hempy probably wasn’t the best move for a smaller autoflower, so next grow is going to be in a smaller container.
You can barely make it out on the photos, but she’s putting on tricomes like crazy in the sugar leaves! She’s started to grow vertically, but thankfully not as fast as her sativa roommate. I knocked down the temp a little bit by running some venting to the AC duct, now it ranges from 77-80, but sticks to around 79 mostly. Some buds are forming, but not a whole bunch just yet. She’s probably going to finish first and mess up all of my timing!
She’s tossing on more and more trichomes! There is a little side growth coming from her, burn she’s probably going to be one giant main cola. Allegedly she’ll be ready to go by the end of the month so we’ll see! Not a lot of bud on her so far, but I think she’ll fatten up!
Towards the end there it kind of started eating itself no matter what I did. Dried out a fair bit, but I cut off a test bud and dried it ahead of trimming and it tasted/felt pretty good. Trichs weren’t where I wanted them to be, but I’d rather have semi-decent bud than a completely dead plant. I’ve read the special pheno is a little whacky so I’m not sure what I did specifically to cause it, or if it was genetics. Pulled 20gs plus trim wet
It grew well, then started shitting the bed around week 9, I kept it going as much as I could, but otherwise came out okay. Smokes decently, but probably could have been better. First full cycle grow so bound to mess up :)
I'm just a newbie but in all search for proper hydro ph it seems to land on 5.8. If it's too low you can get nutrient lockout. my two cents, good luck with your grow.
@BeefWellingtons, thanks for pointing that out, my PH is actually between 5.8 and 6.3 generally. For some reason, it doesn't keep my older inputs on the app when I make a new update, I'll pay more attention to it going forward :)
