Hello Diary!
This time on the "Farm" there are two new strains from Royal Queen Seeds, Watermelon Auto and Purple Punch Auto. In this diary we will dedicate ourselves to Watermelon. 😀
I would like to thank James of the Royal Queen Seeds for sending me these strains. 🙏
LET'S START FIRST WITH THE FARM SET-UP:
Box - Secret Jardin DS120W 120x60x178
Lights - MIGRO 200+
Ventilation - Blauberg Turbo - E 100
Filter - Primaklima filter PK 100/125
Fan - Oscillating Koala Fan
Humidifier - Beurer LB 45
Soil - BIOBIZZ Light - Mix
Pot - 11L AirPot
Seed - Royal Queen Seed
Nutrition - BioBizz and RQS Organic nutrition
A few words about Watermelon Automatic.
The breeders from RQS set out with the intention of crafting a strain that lights the taste buds on fire. To achieve such a tantalizing terpene profile, they selected two of the most flavorful parent strains available: Tropicanna Cookies and Lemon OG. Both of these varieties are packed full of limonene, myrcene, and other fruity and earthy molecules.
Watermelon Automatic emerged with a genetic makeup of 75% indica, 20% sativa, and 5% ruderalis. The speedy autoflowering strain managed to inherit all of the tasty terpenes from her ancestors.
These are the characteristics, we will now see what it will look like on my small farm.
LET THE DIARY START OFFICIALLY:
14/01/2021.
Planting. After cleaning the Farm (GrowBox), I prepared everything I needed. Soil is a Light-Mix from BioBizz, Air-Pot's, Organic Additives that I mix with soil.
From the beginning of this hobby, I use only organic fertilizers.
I used 11L pots, to which I added 50g Easy Boost Organic Nutrition, 10g Easy Roots Rhizobacter and 5g Easy Roots Mycorrhizza Mix to the soil and mixed everything well.
After that I soaked the soil well with water, made a small hole, laid the seed inside and lightly covered it with soil.
After planting is completed, they enter their new home. As I wrote earlier, in addition to Watermelon, there are two more Purple Punch Auto on the Farm to keep him company. The temperature in the Box at that time was 23 degrees and the humidity was slightly below 45%, so I will have to put humidifier to raise humidity.
I set the lights 35cm from the pots as Migro recommends.
14 - 17/01/2021
I sprayed the surface of the soil with water a couple of times to keep the soil moisture at the surface.
17/01/2021
Watermelon Automatic sprouted. There was a seed coat left on the stalk so I had to remove it by hand, but a nice photo motif.
22/01/2021
I watered the plants with a small amount of water to which I only regulated p.H at 6.4.
Farm: 24.7 degrees - 55% humidity
I'm quite late with the publication of the diary, the reason is the large number of photos I take and then I need to find time to put everything in a pile, along with the notes and type everything nicely. No matter how much time I spend on the diary, it relaxes me and makes me happy.
See you soon.
Hello Diary.
The first week of vegetation is over. The plants thrive nicely, look healthy and satisfied. Watermelon grew 10 cm in the first week of vegetation. In addition to the nutrients that I mixed into the soil at planting, I started adding BioBizz’s Root-Juice.
I regulate the humidity with a humidifier, so the humidity varies between 50% and 60%.
Along with Watermelon on the “farm” are two Purple Punch Auto, who keep him company, with one Purple Punch not sprouting right away so I had to repeat the germination.
Let’s see what the first week looked like.
27/01/2021 - Day 1.
Official first day of vegetation.
29/01/2021 - Day 3.
Watering. I prepared 4 liters of water but each plant got about 1 liter. p.H. I regulated with Plagron’s Lemon Kick at 6.2. and added 4ml / lit Root-Juice from BioBizz.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 22.9 degrees and 50% humidity.
02/02/2021 - Day 7.
Photographing and watering. After the photo shoot, I watered the plants, each getting about 1.5 lit. This time I didn't add any extras I just adjusted the p.H to 6.3. and the water temperature was 20.2 degrees. I also measured the height of the plants and Watermelon grew 10 cm.
That’s it for this week, thank you all for your support and likes. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
The second week of vegetation is over. Pretty a quiet week, I had one watering and more or less it was all action on “Farm”.
Conditions are more or less good, I would like the humidity to be a bit higher but ok.
Watermelon has grown 20 cm, which is double from the previous week.
I didn’t add any nutrients, the soil is still rich in nutrients from Easy Boost Organic Nutrition, Mycorrhiza Mix and substances in the soil. From next week I will start adding BioBizz.
Her roommates, the two Purple Punch are also progressing nicely and you can see them better in their own diary.
Let’s see how it was this week.
07/02/2021 - Day 12.
Watering. I regulated the water with Plagron’s Lemon Kick. In my case the tap water is about 8 p.H. so I lower it to a value between 6.0 and 6.5. I pour water into the bucket the day before to evaporate the existing chlorine from the water. I should have watered more often with less water but now it turned out that way.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 49% humidity.
09/02/2021 - Day 14.
Photographing plants, measuring height and analyzing the week.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 23.5 degrees and 40% humidity.
Watermelon Auto - Day 14. - 20 cm
For now, everything is cool, the conditions are good, the plants are progressing nicely, life is beautiful :). See you next week.
Hello Diary.
We came to the last week of vegetation, and we enter slowly into flowering.
Watermelon has grown 36 cm and looks healthy and satisfied.
This week I added a lot of nutrients when watering, I will see how they will react to that.
Her roommates, two Purple Punch outgrew her in height so I had to adjust the lights a bit to everyone at “Farm”. The lights are dimmed at 80%
The temperature in the growbox is around 25 degrees, which is ideal for me but the humidity is a bit lower than I would have liked. I'm thinking of putting on a humidifier again.
The plants started to be more thirsty so now watering is more frequent as well.
Let’s take a look at the review of the week.
10/02/2021 - Day 15.
Watering. p.H I adjusted to 6.3 with Lemon Kick and added one Easy Grow tablet to 6 liters of water. With that, I watered all three plants evenly.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.5 degrees and 40% humidity.
13/02/2021 - Day 18.
Watering.p.H I regulated to 6.4 and did not add any other nutrients.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.3 degrees and 40% humidity.
16/02/2021 - Day 21.
Photographing and watering. This time I added CalMg, 1.5ml / L preventively and from BoiBizz I added Bio Heaven, Bio Grow, Acti Vera and Alg-A-Mix only 2ml / L each. p.H I regulated at 6.4. Due to the low humidity, I put the humidifier back in the GrowBox.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24 degrees and 35% humidity.
That’s it for this week, thanks to everyone who stop by and take a look. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
The first week of flowering is over, the plants have grown over 50 cm, the branches have spread and now they have already started to crumple.
Specifically, the Watermelon Auto has grown to 50 cm, while its roommates, Purple Punch, have grown to 60 cm. Purple Punch # 2 that sprouted a few days later has now outgrown Watermelon by a few inches.
Along with the height, and in width it has expanded greatly and has rather dense branches. On the lower leaves I noticed the appearance of yellow-brown spots, I probably overdosed with fertilizers, I will see how they will behave further.
The flowers started to form, so I have new motives to photograph. I water every two to three days, when each plant gets about 2 liters of water.
I add food at about every other watering. Sometimes biobizz and sometimes I put Easy Grow or Easy Bloom tablet, depending on the stage the plant is in.
p.H. I always adjust the water value to a value between 6.2 and 6.5.
Conditions on the Farm are more or less satisfactory, the temperature is about 25 degrees while the humidity is slightly lower than satisfactory, varying between 40% and 50%.
At the beginning of the week, I also changed the light regime to 20 hours of the day and 4 hours of the night.
Here’s a brief overview of the past week.
18/02/2021 - Day 23.
Watering. I adjusted the water to 6.3 p.H with Plagron’s Lemon Kick and added 1.5 mL / lit CalMg preventively.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 41% humidity.
20/02/2021 - Day 25.
Watering. I regulated the water to 6.4 p.H, I added 1ml / lit CalMg and BioBizz as scheduled for the first week of flowering.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.4 degrees and 43% humidity.
22/02/2021 - Day 27.
Watering. This time I watered only with water which I regulated p.H at 6.3.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.6 degrees and 40% humidity.
23/02/2021 - Day 28.
Photography and height measurement.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 42% humidity.
That’s it for this week, a big hello and thank you to everyone who follows the diary and thanks for the comments. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
The second week of flowering is over, so let’s see what it looked like last week.
Watermelon Auto reached 61 cm, meaning it began to stagnate in growth. It is nicely branched and wide, it is full of leaves so I will need to do a little cleaning soon.
I have yellow-brown spots on the lower leaves and the leaves are totally decaying, since I give her nutrients like her roommates Purple Punch, I’m not sure what the cause is. It could be over feeding, but also a lack of some element.
All in all, the “Farm” is now a real jungle, along with Watermelon, there are also her two roommates, Purple Punch, so each of them is fighting for as much light as possible.
The humidity in the Box is still lower than I would like, the temperature is good.
Let's see what the week looked like:
24/02/2021 - Day 29.
Watering. I regulated, that is, lowered the p.H. at 6.4 and put 1 Easy Bloom Tablet, on 7 liters of water.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.8 degrees and 42% humidity.
27/02/2021 - Day 32.
Watering. I adjusted the p.H to 6.4 and added BioBizz as scheduled for the second week of flowering.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.9 degrees and 35% humidity.
02/03/2021 - Day 35.
Watering and height measurement. This time I did not add any nutrients but only regulated p.H at 6.3.
Height Watermelon Auto - 61 cm.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.2 degrees and 39% humidity.
That’s it for this week, thanks to everyone who follows the diary, the support and advice I get means a lot to me. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
And the third week of flowering is behind me, Watermelon has begun to stagnate in growth so a height of about 70 cm is the maximum it will reach. 😎
At the end of the week I did a defoliation, I removed the lower leaves and branches and some of the leaves inside the plant itself, which were already very yellow.
I’m still not sure what is the cause of the brown spots and leaf decay. If it’s an excess of nutrients, then the conclusion is that Purple Punch (which keeps her company in the Box) is much more resistant than Watermelon.
Another possible cause is nicotine disease, because in the plant itself, there is an opening through which air enters the Box, and if there is a lot of tobacco in the room in front, it is possible. 😟
If anyone is reading this text, and has an idea of the cause of leaf decay, I ask him for advice. 🙏
The flowers develop nicely, are full of already visible trichomes and begin to take on an increasingly intense scent. Also, the flowers can be seen to turn purple. 😍
After all, everything can be seen in detail in the photos. At this stage of flowering I started doing photos on a black background, the photos are much nicer.
Regardless of the leaves, I was still adding nutrients since everything was fine with her roommates Purple Punch. This will be a test to see how much is really enough to dose them, especially since each strain reacts differently.
Here is a brief overview of the week.
04/03/2021 - Day 37.
Watering. I regulated p.H. at 6.3 with Plagron’s Lemon Kick, and added one Easy Bloom Booster tablets to a total of 7 gallons of water.
With that, I watered all three plants evenly.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.3 degrees and 41% humidity.
08/03/2021 - Day 41.
Watering. p.H. I regulated to 6.2, I added 1ml / lit CalMg and BioBizz as scheduled for the third week of flowering.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 39% humidity.
09/03/2021 - Day 42.
Defoliation and photography. I photographed the plants in the Box, to see the current condition and after that I did a defoliation. For the end, I took the final photos of the plant for the end of the 6th week.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.2 degrees and 38% humidity.
That’s it for this week, see you soon with a new report. 🙌
Hello Diary,
The fourth week of flowering is over and we are slowly heading towards the end.
Last week I did defoliation, so now there is better air flow through the whole plant.
The leaves took on a yellowish color, but the flowers were not affected. They are covered with trichomes that are now visible to the eye and have been given a beautiful dark purple color.
The volume of the flowers themselves is smaller than that of her roommates Purple Punch, I hope it will fill up a bit.
As you can see in the photos, the Watermelon has a nice shape, it just looks gorgeous to me.
In one watering I added Biobizz and that was the last addition of nutrients for her. From now on just flushing.
Conditions in the growbox are good, the temperature varies around 25 degrees, while the humidity is around 40%.
Now comes the stage when I start observing the development of trichomes through a microscope, it’s a special experience for me, like I’m looking at something from another planet.
Here's a brief overview of the week:
11/03/2021 - Day 44.
Watering. I didn’t add any nutrients, I just lowered p.H. water at 6.3.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.5 degrees and 36% humidity.
13/03/2021 - Day 46.
Watering. p.H. I downgraded to 6.4 and added BioBizz as scheduled for the current week. This will be the last addition of nutrients. From now on only clean water.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 26 degrees and 39% humidity.
16/03/2021 - Day 49.
Photographing for the end of the seventh week.
That’s it for this week, see you soon with a new week. Greetings to everyone who looks at the diary.
Hello Diary.
The fifth week of flowering is over, Watermelon is nearing the end of flowering, another week or two and there will be harvest.
The flowers took on a purple color and the hairs began to turn brown. The flowers themselves are not too big, we will see if they will still develop but the smell is wonderful.
The leaves are almost all yellow, and most have brown spots, whatever the cause, her two roommates, Purple Punch are totally ok, they weren’t affected.
Watering is every three days, I stopped adding nutrients, I only regulate p.H of water to values between 6.0 and 6.5.
Conditions on the Farm are satisfactory, the temperature is around 25 degrees while the humidity is below 40%.
Here's what it looked like last week:
17/03/2021 - Day 50.
Watering. I prepared a total of 7 liters of water, adjusted the p.H to 6.3 and watered all three plants on the farm evenly.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 24.5 degrees and 38% humidity.
20/03/2021 - Day 53.
Watering. The procedure is the same as three days ago.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.1 degrees and 34% humidity.
23/03/2021 - Day 56.
Watering and photography. As for watering, the same procedure as three days ago, after which I photographed Watermelon and her roommates, two Purple Punch.
Now I have to water and wait for the right moment. I check with a microscope the development of trichomes but they are still transparent. That’s it for this week, see you soon.
Hello Diary.
It has completed its sixth week of flowering, a total of 9 weeks since Watermelon sprouted.
As can be seen in the photos, most of the leaves have turned yellow and do not look pretty. The consequences are probably over-feeding at some point, plus, the harvest is approaching and the leaves get a more yellowish color.
As for the flowers, they look beautiful, have taken on a purple color and are covered with trichomes. The smell is intense.
I would like to mention that over-feeding reflected a lot on Watermelon which was not the case with her roommates Purple Punch with whom she shares “Farm”.
So I advise future growers to be more careful with adding nutrients.
Watering is every three days, I regulate or lower the p.H of water to values between 6.1 and 6.5. And I do that with every preparation of water for irrigation.
I stopped adding any additives the previous week so they get clean water.
Let’s take a look at the review of the week.
26/03/2021 - Day 59.
Watering. p.H. water I regulated to 6.4
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 32% humidity.
29/03/2021 - Day 62.
Watering. p.H - 6.3
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 36% humidity.
30/03/2021 - Day 63.
Photography. This time I didn't photograph them on a black background, I didn't want to stress them too much, I'll take detailed photos for the end anyway.
That’s it for this week, without much excitement, I’m patiently waiting for the harvest. See you soon.
Hello Diary.
It completed the last week of flowering, a total of three weeks of vegetation and seven weeks of flowering. A total of 81 days since it sprouted.
In the end, I can say that Watermelon lasted well, although I had problems, I mean over-feeding at one point, the flowers look good, they are beautiful purple color, full of trichomes and intense scent.
The photos show that most of the leaves have totally turned yellow and a lot of them have brown spots on them, but the flowers have been spared.
Although not as hard and full as the flowers of his roommate, Purple Punch.
There were only two waterings this week, I wanted him to consume all the water to make the drying faster.
The condition in the growbox is satisfactory, the temperature is around 25 degrees while the humidity is below 40%.
Here’s what the last week looked like.
31/04/2021 - Day 64.
Watering. I regulated p.H. at 6.3 and with 7 liters of water I evenly watered all three plants on the “farm”.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25 degrees and 37% humidity.
03/04/2021 - Day 67.
Watering. The procedure is the same as three days ago.
Temp / Humidity on the farm - 25.3 degrees and 38% humidity.
07/04/2021 - Day 71.
Harvest. After I did the photography, I cut the plant at the bottom of the stalk and hung it upside down in a growbox to dry.
The temperature in the Box is about 25 degrees and the humidity is slightly lower than 40%.
I turned off the lights and left only the ventilation on while I also turned off the fans.
Now it is preceded by about two weeks of drying, maybe a little less, so I call with one last review. See you soon.
What to say in the end, even though things were not ideal, the outcome is better than expected. 🙏
My only regret is that it has not reached its full potential, although the buds are beautiful, dark purple, full of terpenes that stick to your fingers like honey when you touch them. 😋
The outcome is in the end 56 g. which is more than it looked before the harvest. 💪
She dried along with her two roommates Purple Punch for a total of 14 days.
My wife, although not a consumer, enjoys trimming which suits me great because I can take photos during that time.
After trimming, we put the dry tops in jars where they matured for another 20 days.
Sometime in the future I would definitely repeat Watermelon, I know it can do even better.
It’s great that it’s summer, it fits perfectly with the Watermelon joint on an afternoon summer evening with a book and the sea.
I hope those who visited the diary got useful information, and to all who commented and liked, thank you for your support.
See you soon with new diaries.
