I'm very curious and hyped, about these new strains from Royal Queen Seeds.
[ Royal Runtz ]
* https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/feminized-cannabis-seeds/539-royal-runtz.html
- THC: ~27%
- Type: 50% Sativa, 50% Indica
- Genetics: Gelato x Zkittlez
- Height (inside): 90-130 cm / 35.43-51.18 inch
- Height (outside): 160-180 cm / 62.99-70.87 inch
This should be a triple AAA star, a marriage between two legends. I'm not sure what to expect on the yield yet, +100gr / +3.53oz ( INDOORS ) should do the trick.
I will treat this lady nicely, so we are going for the long run with the big haul here. Expect at least 10-12 weeks.
As she's a big one, I'm glad that I switched to a bigger Jardin HydroShoot tent to compensate where needed, I do intent to train her intensively.
Next week I will talk about this weeks germination, the tent preparation and the soil composition and preparation.
Soil setup (same for both plants):
- 10 % pebbles at the top (for top soil protection against water evaporation)
- 50gr / 1.75oz of RQS Easy Boost
- 70 % Plagron Grow Mix
- 20 % pebbles at the bottom (for draining and preventing the roots from digging into the fabric pot + prevents root bind)
- 7L / 1.85gal water (initial watering, should last some weeks till they grow bigger)
On temperature: there have been a couple of "hot and humid" days. All in all no biggy. Pretty good conditions overall for a growing phase.
Regarding the germination process:
The Runtz hatched quicker, hence the longer stem compared to the CBDV.
The rolls will be removed once the stems are stronger. They mainly function for a bufferzone in order to let the plants grow without pressure or heat from the pebbles.
I will keep the topic on tent preparation in next weeks journal. See you guys soon!
No watering needed this week. With the start of the new week I will provide some with some good new nutrients.
The stem for Runtz has strengthened nicely. I will not be stretching her out in height, as I will start training her soon.
The rolls will be removed once the stems are stronger. They mainly function for a bufferzone in order to let the plants grow without pressure or heat from the pebbles.
Regarding the indoor tent preparation (some basic 101's):
* take a room with stable heat - moisture conditions
* no pets in the same room as they can take bugs from the garden to inside
* make sure your tent is light blocking from out to in, and light reflective on the inside
* vacuum and clean the tent after every usage, give malovelent pests and fungi no change
* if you want to use a screen of green, prepare and deploy it in advance
* place a fan for a soft breeze, this will strengthen the roots and stem
* place fitting trays to catch any overflow of water
The results for this week:
Runtz = 23cm / 09.05inch
I've started to use the RQS Easy Grow Booster tablets (https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/growing/355-easy-grow-booster-tablets.html)
Where 1 tablet goes with 3l / 0.79gal of water. So for this week and the upcoming week I'm using half of a tablet each time.
For Runtz:
The protective barrier has been removed as the stem is growing in strenght.
The SCRoG has been prepared and the lamp distance has been increased. Aiming to pull her slightly a bit higher in height before I top her and start to train her.
Runtz height: 33cm / 13inch
Not visible in the current pictures: I topped the Runtz and started with HST. Plan is to let it fit within the ScrOG eventually.
I notice an early lack of Nitrogen. Will rediagnose again with the next watering schedule in the upcoming days, and provide additional nutes where needed.
Runtz height: 32cm / 12.60inch
For Runtz:
Now visible in the current pictures is the topped the Runtz + HST. All sidebranches are getting a nice boost kick now, which is great for the overall plan.
Due to the early lack of Nitrogen, I've provided an intermediate and seperate feeding schedule with Plagron nutes. The Plagron Sugar Royal should start to help now.
For Runtz:
All sidebranches are developping nicely. No nutrient deficiencies this week, so my intervention seems to have worked.
Will bring her on Easy Bloom tablets once she also starts to develop some fruits (which might be in a few weeks, or sooner).
For now trying to keep an equal momentum between all the sidebranches by appying some LST.
Still learning on the fly here, as it is my first time trying on a larger scale for branch training.
Runtz height 44cm / 17.32inch
For Runtz:
Love the amount of control that I have over this one. Sidebranches are developping further.
No special nutrient deficiencies this week (will provide some extra Nitrogen as usual with this soil composition).
I've actually started (week 8) giving both a solution of Easy Bloom.
Will monitor the Runtz closely as she is still growing.
Runtz height 49cm / 19.29inch
For Runtz:
I got her where I want her to be. Switching the light schedule in week 9 to 12-12.
Regarding the nutrients, I made a small mistake. Where the Easy Grow table is ment to be for 3-5L / 0.79-1.32 Gal. The Easy bloom tablets are actually ment to be for 5-8L / 1.32-2.11 Gal (which makes sense as we need more water during blooming).
So I accidently double dosed them this week. To be honest, all went ok and with this soil they do need a bit more oomph.
Runtz height 69cm / 27.17inch
For Runtz:
First signs of bud forming started. She will be lovely in 4 weeks from now.
The Runtz did a gigantic growth spurt.
As you can see all went OK nutrientwise.
CBDV = after a week of drying it is now curing
Runtz = 86 cm / 33.86 inch
The buds are starting to form and fill up all the 4 main colas and 8 lower colas. This might be a new personal record, taking all goes well in the upcoming weeks ofcourse.
Defoliated some of the used up bottom leaves and one inner sugar leaf which was blocking devlopment of a sidebranch bud.
CBDV = is curing at the moment in it's jar
Runtz = 89 cm / 35.04 inch
The buds are filling up on all the colas. Defoliated some additional solar leaves, as they were either overlapping or blocking light for some of the shorter side branches.
Almost there, just a few more weeks of juice dripping goodness.
Growing Royal Runtz is easy to grow. She can handle alot of stress and alot of training. Looking forward to smoke her so I can taste compare her with Royal Gorilla.
