6/7 first time doing hydroponics, decided to go with DWC method, pump running 24/7 single root through the peat pellet and transpfeed to the clay pebbles and water slightly touching the basket.
6/10 finally got my ph down to a 5.5 about
6/17 there's 2 roots! lots of growth, I'm thinking if I should have taken off the netting from the peat pellet so the roots could get through the clay better
6/20Lots of root growth, tested PH, still at around 5.5, LST is going well, I read somewhere to use yarn and duct tape so I can still open the lid easily, so far so good, not sure when she gets bigger
6/25 added more LST, so far so good, roots are increasing day by day, looking to clean bucket tonight (I've read varying opinions on cleaning DWC buckets during grow, some people leave it for an entire grow cycle, some clean weekly, some add beneficial microbes, the more I read about it I think ill be introducing compost tea for the rest of the grow) also finally caved in and bought a bluelab PH pen will be playing with that throughout the week see if I can record PPM and temp
6/27 I regret doing LST, I realize it was allowing more light into the res and maybe causing issues, took apart lst
6/27 Day of cleaning res, switched plant to empty bucket of water while I hosed out the res, added water new water, added teaspoon PH down and I got EC110 over 500ppm and 80 degrees, then added 2 teaspoons of cal mag and got EC 200, then my big mistake...adding the 10 teaspoons of big bloom, as you can see in pics, this dyed everything brown, it doesn't mix well and particles float, another mistake was I filled my res about 2 inches too high and my roots suffered. anyways the res stays at about EC=250 (500ppm) and water temp stays at 80 room temp 80 and humidy 70. all recipe for root rot which I'm positive I have... added 1tbsp of alternative to hydro guard with a higher concentration which hydrogaurd has a surprisingly low percentage of bacillus amyloliquefaciens coupled with bad reviews on amazon i added a picture for reference
6/30 white roots are growing!!!
7/1 lots of root growth, leaves are still a bit wilting/crisp on the plant, new growth looks healthy
7/3 cleaning res every sunday, water temp stays about 80 degrees ppm tested at 260 today so shes taking in some nutrients, keeping about an inch between net basket and water
7/4 decided to try out mainlining instead of lst route, read to grow up to 5 nodes and cut at the third node and remove all growth under third node
7/5 ppm was 240 and 78 degrees added cal-mag to raise to 410ppm
7/6 cleaned res ph of water about 5 added 5 tsp dyna grow and 2 tsp cal mag to get 300ppm also added more hydrogaurd alt
7/7 roots always look unhappy after I clean res,
7/8 topped for the second time for my mainline, inside res few white healthy roots still growing long at bottom of res, a lot is clumped with the bad roots not sure what to do😓 ppm 290 and 90 degrees 😭 added more dyna grow to make 590 ppm and tsp hydro guard alt
7/10 ppm 570 added more water + nutes 620 ppm
7/11 600 ppm ph 5 and 83 degrees res high humidity 85, letting her grow so I can continue mainline
7/13 590 ppm 77 degrees ph 5 topped to continue my mainline! shes growing really fast
7/17 added top water with nutes to keep about an inch between water and net basket ppm stays around 600-620 cleaning res tom.
7/17 roots were not happy after the res clean, I ph matched the water, and ppm matched it with the same nutes as the res cleaning prior, around 600 ppm 5 ph and water stays around 80-90 degrees...too hot!! added more hydrogaurd then last time seemed to do wonders last time my roots got like this you can see the deterioration throughout this week revolving roots, nothing showing on plant herself but stress probably caused her to flower I noticed on 7/21
7/21 removed lst ties letting her grow natural to deter any additional stress
7/22 added flower nutrients, ppm is around 750 ph 5 83 degrees
7/26 can't believe my old pump tested at 1 watt!! when advertised for 5 gal tank, anyways upgraded to 4 watt, keeping the inch between basket and water, flower nutrients dyed everything brown, res ppm stays around 600-700 lower temps 80-90 degrees ph 5 doing a lot of tucking of fan leaves, some stalks are stretching higher then others, adjusting light as needed, keeping light around 12 inches from canopy
7/30 lots of new growth, having to refill res 2-3 times a week about
8/4 raised PPM to 800-700 with more flower fuel, res needs a clean this weekend
8/9 still haven't got to cleaning res, keep refilling with water trying to maintain an inch between net basket and water and a 800-900 ppm
8/10 noticed nutrient burn on tips of fan leaves, lowering ppm to 800-900 range, ph 6 need to clean res !! + so I can change nutrients to just flower fuel
8/17 cleaned res, flower fuel nutrients stay at 800-900 ppm range, ph 6
8/23 pretty usual, defoliation of some fan leaves for more light penetration, ppm stays around 850-1000 humidity is way too high stays around 60-80% depending on time of day, same with temp 80-90f water temp can get to 90's but generally 80's
Hey Hannibis. Just thought I would mention looking through your diary that ph is 7. Needs to be 5.5 to 6.0 for veg and 6.0 to 6.5 for flowering, or your girl will have some troubles soon.
Should also mention that your humidity is a high for a water grow as well. 50% Rh is good for hydro grows as the humidity right at your plant is much higher. Cheers my friend and enjoy the grow.
@GMSgrows, good point growmie youre right i should add some PH-down to my bucket, 7 is more of an estimate since I'm using the cheap liquid PH tester instead of a PH pen (bluelab is the only one I've heard reliable reviews on but pricey) and humidity wise I didn't think about it being much higher near the plant since it's a water grow--thanks for the pointers!!
Looks absolutely amazing Hannabis, is this your first mainline? I have definitely gotten my best yields and fattest colas from this, very nice work 💪 !
ahhh thank u so much!! yes my first mainline and I'm so happy with the results so far too, honestly less work than when I was LST'ing, thanks for stopping by with the kind words 😌❤️🌱
