Both seeds germinated and were ready to be planted in under 72 hours. After being planted they broke ground a day later! I was very impressed with how fast these girls have started. Sorry for the blurple to start off, will have these under a nice white soon!
These girls are exactly one week old from breaking ground. They are moving along quite nicely and there isn't too much to report yet. I will say these girls are already moving much faster than others I've dealt with.
This week they really took off, and towards the last few days started to show some early deficiency so I knew it was time to transplant into some hotter soil. Usually, I transplant straight into the final 5-gallon grow bag, but in the essence of saving space until my tent is available, they were moved into larger pots with some of the Fox Farms Ocean Forrest soil they will be in.
This week the girls are adjusting to the much hotter Ocean Forrest soil they were transplanted into. Ex 1 seems to have had some issues adjusting to the higher strength and I'm seeing some burning on the lower fan leaves. Thankfully she pushed through it and is just a tad behind Ex 2 in terms of size. Ex 2 showed the smallest bit of burn immediately after the transplant but wasn't affected nearly as much as Ex 1. This is the first time I've had a strain that was really unhappy to move into Ocean Forrest. I topped both by pinching off the top growth a few days ago, and we can see the plants have adjusted their growth to focus on those two new tops on both plants and they are moving fast! I will let these new tops get a tad longer and then we will start on some low-stress training by using stakes to hold those tips down and make the plants grow out rather than up. This will let the light in to those other growth tips that are normally shaded and allow the plant to really bush up rather than grow tall. This is exactly what I want in order to get this plant ready for Scrog in a week or two.
This week the girls were moved into their final 5-gallon pots and got set up in the tent. They will now finish out under the Viparspectra XS2000. Expert 1 is a bit smaller than 2 due to a few days of shock from being transplanted. All of the new growth was topped as well so at this point we will just let them do their thing for the coming week. With the Fox farms soil, I shouldn't need to start adding foods for 3- 4 weeks.
For the start of this week, I added the scrog net in the tent and just let the girls spend a few days doing their thing. I removed a few fan leaves from both of them that were shading out new growth tips coming up as a result of our topping last week. I noticed some minor calcium deficiency early in the week so I added some Cal/Mag to their water. From here I will let the screen fill some over the next week before making the flip for flower.
This week I defoliated heavily to start the week off and then gave them a few days of recovery before finishing off lolipopping to head in flower. Over the last few days, I noticed some deficiencies starting to show up in both plants so I gave them regular strength with the Big Bloom as it is a very very mild fert, and went 1/4 strength on the grow big to start. The net is pretty much filled at this time and they will be dropped down to 12/12 light for going into flower for the coming week.
I flipped these girls to flower at the beginning of this week and went out of town for a week and a half. They were showing slight deficiencies so I upped the ferts.
I got back from being out of town and these girls certainly stretched! They are looking very happy and I am quite pleased with how they were taken care of when I was gone. I had to do some pretty heavy defoliation to open up the canopy and allow for better airflow.
These girls are really starting to fill out and all of the deficiencies seem to have been taken care of. From here on out it is just keeping an eye on environmentals and adjusting ferts as needed.
Definitely starting to add some weight this week! Switched over to the Beastie Blooms from the Open Seasame. Slight deficiency showing that appears to be possibly calmag related.
The Deficiency has continued from last week so this week I went ahead and did a SledgeHammer flush and then fed with a 75% strength feed a few days later. Will see how we are looking next week!
Week 6 of flower and we have really started to pack on some weight this week. Still fighting this deficiency and it has me a little stumped at the moment. Around 3 weeks or so to go!
Everything is moving along smoothly. These girls are adding steady weight and are starting to really pack on the trichomes! Will be switching out the beastie bloomz for the Cha Ching in a few days.
We aren't too far off at this point, I'm going to be cutting nutrients from here and should be finishing up in a week to 10 days. They are smelling much stronger than they did and I'm very excited to finish these out!
All of the nutes have been cut for the past week and both of the girls have definitely lightened up significantly. They only have a few days left at this point and the next post will definitely be a harvest :)
