Started germination in a paper towel, then moved to a soaked Jiffy Pellet once seed cracked. Cal+Mag in RO water, pH down to 6.5 for ALL water used. Kept in a domed small plastic planter box w/ small T5 Bulb & heating mat, keeping soil at 75 degrees. After sprouting, Jiffy Pellet w/ sprout was transplanted into 80% Fox Forest Happy Frog and 20% Organic Earthworm Castings. The root ball was dusted with Mykos, during the transplant. Put in a small netted plastic pot. Watered with Real Grower's Recharge (1/2tsp per gallon of water) + CalMag, and pH'd down to 6.5 after the transplant. Only watered enough to get the area around the Jiffy Pellet wet. PAR measured at ~300 after transplant, and switching to the Mars Hydro SP-3000. The light is mounted as high as it can go in the tent to maximize spread, and the dial is turned to about 75% Notes: Ended up needing a humidifier to keep humidity up around 60%. I am filling it with RO water almost every day to keep up with the rate. It is automated, so as the grow progresses I will be able to turn down the humidity.

7/15 - Transplanted yesterday. Watered with Recharge. Plants look great today. Significant growth in leaf size overnight. Soil is still a little wet today so I will likely wait until tomorrow to water again. I'm hoping the leaves get big enough to get a reading on the leaf temperature for calculating VPD sooner rather than later. Really want to make sure I get that value locked in. 7/16 - Watered around 9PM last night (3 hours before lights off) with RO/pH 6.5/CalMag 170ppm. Plants are looking great. I'm seeing significant growth in the first leave sets and the second sets of leaves are starting to form on two of the plants. Looking more and more like I will cull the smaller third plant, but I want to give it a chance to see how it develops. The smaller plant actually already has small trichome-esque development on it's first set of leaves that the other two, larger plants do not. So I'm going to keep all three for now and see how things progress. I was able to get a decent reading on the leaf temperature and have locked in my VPD at around 0.80. I will continue to adjust the VPD to be correct throughout the plants life using the humidity, leaf temp, and room temp. 7/17 - Nothing too new to report. Still not time to water. I will water tomorrow. One of the plants, the largest one, seems to have a much lighter green color in it's leaves compared to the others. I will ask a grow question. 7/18. Soil seemed dry enough today for a watering, so I gently watered each plant with about 100ml of pH 6.7 Reverse Osmosis filtered water, with CalMag added to bring the water to 179ppm. All the "lime-green" coloration is gone. Thank you to everyone who responded to my grow question! The girls look very healthy and happy. I plant to transplant these into 1 gallon fabric pots in 1-2 weeks, once I start to see roots coming out of the bottom/sides of their current plastic mesh pots. 7/19 - Not too much new to report. All three plants look great. The soil is beginning to look dry already from yesterday's watering. Makes sense because I did not water very much, the plants are still pretty small. I will not water for another 48 hours unless the plants start to show signs of being thirsty. 7/20. Soil was dry all the way down to the bottom. Gave a nice full watering to each plant. These leaves are looking so beautiful! 7/21. Plants look great again today. Really starting to see some big leaves forming. The biggest plant has some slight discoloration on one of it's first leaves. Seems like gold colored spots beginning towards the tip of the leaf. I will post a grow question with some pictures. I'm thinking I have about 5-7 days before I transplant them, and when I do the transplant I'll be adding dry 4-4-4 amendments to the transplant soil - which will be Happy Frog, Earthworm Castings, and Perlite.

Is using these mesh plastic pots going to give me issues with lights getting to the roots for young seedlings? I plan to transplant into fabric pots well before they fill these up with roots, but they will likely be in these mesh plastic pots for 2ish weeks.

I'm wondering if there is any reason to be concerned with the lighter color leaves of one of my plants? They are significantly more "lime green" than the other two. he one in question is the bottom one in the picture attached. It is clear how much darker in color others are.

Quite normal and no real need for concern, it is just getting its root system organized before worrying about growing perfect leaves. It is only a slight variation in chlorophyll maturity and by the second or third set of leaves, you will be wondering why you were worried in the first place! Yes, don't leave transplanting too long, those pots are not large enough for much more than 1-2 weeks of growth. Ideally, pots about 4 inches across and 5 inches deep are far more suitable, as their volume allows for good root development and growth for about 3 weeks. Congratulations for experimenting with "Mykos", I believe they are the secret ingredient every grower should be aware of, their benefit is remarkable and their value to plant health can not be underestimated. I am a complete fan of it myself and can not ever imagine growing without it! Hope this helps, Organoman.

What is this spotty/blotchy discoloration on this leaf? None of the other plants have it, it didn't brush off when rubbed. Hoping it isn't a mold or a pest...I have been keeping the humidity around 65% with good airflow, but I'm wondering if it's time to bring it down to 60%.

I wouldn't worry, they look quite fine. It is not a disease, excess, insects or deficiency, just a bit of a funny leaf. Just remember, no plant will ever have 100% perfect leaves, 100% of the time. Cheers, Organoman.

7/22 - I was out of town today. No updates. 7/23 - Came back home in the afternoon. Plants hadn't been watered in a few days and the soil was dry, so I watered with a "tea" of aerated, RO, PH'd water with 1tsp/gal of Recharge. 7/24 - Plants looking great, heavy growth. I'm not seeing any roots coming out of the bottom or sides of the mesh plastic pots yet. I will probably transplant soon regardless. I have noticed the one plant that was showing slight Calcium and Magnesium deficiencies is showing the same rust/yellow spots/mottling on one more leaf. No other plants are showing this issue. I will up my CalMag dosage to 225ppm for all future waterings. Previously it was 170ppm. 7/25 - Not much to update. Not time to water, but the plants seem to love their environment. Besides the slight deficiencies on the one plant, everyone looks great. The 4th node is in development on all the plants, I will likely Top them at the 4th or 5th node, once there are 6 or 7 nodes. After topping, I will start LST with all of the plants. I upped the LED light to full 100% power, and using my PAR meter, the top of the canopy is getting ~460PPFD. I will lower the light over the next few weeks to find a sweet spot of ~550PPFD at the top of the canopy for the rest of veg. 7/26 - Plants are happy, soil is dry, plants are slightly drooping, seeming like the are beginning to want water. However, I do not see any root growth on the outsides of the mesh pot. And also don't see any other signs of unhealthiness. I am tempted to wait to water until tomorrow. I also am waiting on my new BlueLab Ph Pen to come in the mail. I've already mixed up the water for the next watering, it is currently aerating in a bucket. Currently reading 320ppm, 200ppm of that being CalMag+, and 120ppm being Fox Farms Big Bloom. Fox Farms recommends Big Bloom throughout the plant's entire life, so I thought why not water with some Big Bloom at a 50% dose and see what happens? The ingredients are somewhat benign, and are what I would consider to be "Soil Boosters" more than an actual plant food with NPK values. Fox Farms has NPK at N=0, P=0.5, and K=0.7 for Big Bloom. I also have began lowering the temperature of the grow room and tent. I see some leaf curling that I can only attribute to the daytime temperatures hovering around 81. After only 24 hours, the leaves are looking happier. I will likely continue to have the temperature at a cooler 76-79 throughout the day. Automating that, is a different story... 7/27 - CRAP! I waited too long to water. The plants this morning look ROUGH. Definitely wanting some water. Watered with the above described water (RO, pH 6.5, 200ppm CalMag, 100ppm Big-Bloom). Within hours they all looked much happier! I will water sooner next time. These small containers are hard to predict, especially when trying to avoid over-watering. 7/28 - End of week 2! 21 Days since germination is tomorrow. The plants are SO much happier from their watering yesterday. Growing a good amount. I will be topping soon...

7/29 - 3 weeks since germination began! I transplanted the plants today into a combination of 60% Happy Frog, 25% Worm Castings, and 15% perlite. I also added 2 tbsp/gal of Dr. Earth 4-4-4, as well as 1 tbsp/gal of Diatomaceous Earth to the soil for the transplant. I also sprinkled the root ball of each plan with a generous portion of Mykos during the transplant. I transplanted into 1 gallon fabric Smart Pots. I noticed that the soil was VERY dry in the old pots, I wonder if the mesh plastic pots may actually dry out a little too quickly to encourage root growth. The roots for each plant only took up about 50% of the container. However, each plant was taller and wider than the mesh plastic pot, so it felt like the right time to transplant. After transplanting, I watered with RO water pH'd to 6.5 with 200ppm of CalMag+. I watered until the bottom of the fabric pots felt wet to the touch. Observations: The plants look thirsty! I think they will enjoy their new homes. I will be topping likely in the next 7 days, once there are 6 nodes I will top down to the 4th node. 7/30 - Plants responding VERY well to transplanting. The soil is actually staying somewhat wet, so I'm looking forward to a lot of root growth in these new containers for 2-3 weeks. I think they are almost ready for topping! I'm planning on doing the "LBH’s Famous 4-Way LST" combined with SCrOG. I notice that the 5th node is in development on all the plants, the largest one is actually starting on it's 6th node. I'm thinking of cutting the main stem about 1/4" to 1/2" away from the 4th or 5th node. I will ask a grow question about timing and which node. "LBH’s Famous 4-Way LST" https://www.growweedeasy.com/lbhs-famous-4-way-lst-tutorial-plus-topping-sub-tutorial "SCrOG" https://www.growweedeasy.com/scrog-tutorial 7/31 - No pics today. Was out hiking all day and night. Updates tomorrow. I bet they are thirsty... 8/1 - Whoa they were very thirsty today. I'm starting to be able to easily recognize the signs of underwatering, the leaves droop down, and become somewhat "crispy". I think I will attempt to water more often to avoid the mornings I've been having recently of OMG THEY'RE GONNA DIE. :) I added Humboldt's Secret "Tree Trunk" in this watering. It is a silicate additive, and I feel having this will help with the amount of LST that I want to do. I also appreciate everyone's answer to my grow question regarding topping. I will top the plants to above their 4th node on their next watering day. Within 4 hours of watering with RO water and 75ppm of Silicate and 175ppm of CalMag+, pH'd to 6.5, and the plants are looking incredible. The picture dated 8/1 shows their happiness. About an hour after watering, I added 6oz of Recharge to each plant. 8/2 - Wow! Plants looking very healthy and happy today. Took some nice pics. I will likely water tomorrow just as I did above. I also lowered my light a few inches, and using the Photone app on my iPhone + the home-made diffuser, the plants are getting 500-550PPFD. They really seemed to love yesterday's watering, the increase in light, and the addition of Recharge. 8/3 - Decided to water today with RO water and 75ppm of Silicate and 130ppm of CalMag+, pH'd to 6.5 to avoid the dryness I had been experiencing with my old water schedule. Plants immediately stopped drooping and started perking up. Right now at this rate I am watering every other day. I will likely top the plants tomorrow! I'm waiting for the 4th "true node" to be a little more developed on 2 of the plants before doing the topping. 8/4 - Wow, can't believe it's the end of week 3 of Veg. 4 weeks since germination began. Time flies. I topped today, to the 4th "true node" (not counting cotyledons or single blade leaves). I will water tomorrow or the next day. I do leave town for 4 days on 8/6, so will have to trust a close personal friend to water and watch the plants. I hope to come back to see them well recovered from the topping!

Is this a good time to top? Most plants are developing their 5th or 6th node as pictured. Is it recommended to cut just above the 4th or 5th node? I am planning on doing "LBH’s Famous 4-Way LST" combined with SCrOG.

8/10 - I was out of town from 8/6 to 8/9. The plants have gotten SO much wider since their topping. I did some minor defoliatiojn of the smaller boom leaves from the main stem. When doing so I believe I discovered that I have thrips...I will post a grow question with some pictures. Otherwise I am thinking they will be ready to transplant next week into 5 gallon pots. They have gotten huge! The secondary stem growth out of the main stem totals in excess of over 12" per plant in the past 4 days! This growth really blows me away. Just wow. Now to fix the thrips issue! 8/11 - I transplanted the girls to their final 5 gallon Smart Pot homes today. I used my standard soil mix of 50% Happy Frog, 25% Worm Castings, and 25% Perlite. I also added Dr. Earth's 4-4-4, Diatomaceous Earth, and Mykos and Azos to the roots. The roots looked pretty good during the transplant, they had all just started to reach the outer and lower edges of their 1 gallon pots. After transplanting I cut the lowest branches off of each main stem, and did some minor defoliation. I also began LST after transplanting, tying down the 4 lowest branches off of the main stem of each plant. I did not LST the smallest plant yet, as I want it to grow a little more before I do. In other news, I definitely have thrips. I cut off the single "off" looking branch from the one plant. None others are showing similar issues, so I thought removing it was the best route. To treat the thrips, I sprayed the plants after lights out with Captain Jack's Deadbug (Spinosad). Hoping to see improvements after 2-3 applications.

Are these indicators of thrips? It appears so to me. Dr. Zymes is a good solution from what I've read....is it? And what's the best way to foliar spray the plants so the LED light doesn't cook them?

Hmm.. yeah I’m not sure. Looks like physical damage in the first picture. Was it topped/FIMed there? Usually with thrips you’ll see like a hazy whitish discoloration on the leaves- I’m not seeing that As for dr zymes - I’ve used it with decent results. Switched to Green Cleaner because it wasn’t doing the job for aphids for me. Anyhow, just spray minutes before lights out.. if you got a dimmer on your light, turn it down real low while you spray. A lot of times I’ll just wait til the second my lights go off and turn on the low intensity ceiling light to spray them real quick then turn it off. It only takes 5 min so it’s not messing with the cycle. Make sure you get underneath on the underside of the leaves and the tops. Pain in the butt sometimes but that’s the proper way to keep away certain pests. Good luck!

8/12 - Finished LST on all 8 branches of each plant today. Within hours they were already growing outwards! I sprayed with Spinosad again tonight 5 minutes after lights out. 8/13 - Leaves are looking better today regarding the thrips issue. I will continue to treat with Spinosad every other day for about a week. I also have Dr. Zymes if I want to give that a try too. I did more LST today on all of the plants, really perfected the shape and angle of each branch to allow the most light penetration. I used to be very sure I would SCROG these plants, but I'm wondering if I will have the space/need to. 2 of them are already 2 feet wide at the lowest branch, so I may be able to adequately fill the tent without the SCROG. Soil is still kinda wet from the watering on 8/11 + the larger 5 gallon pots. I will likely wait an additional 24-48 hours from today before watering again. 8/14 - Soil is still wet. Waiting to water. 8/15 - Soil is STILL wet at the plants aren't asking for water so I'm going to wait! I dusted the plants with a nice dusting of DE to make sure I've nipped the thrips and any other pests in the bud! 8/16 - Wow. Soil still wet. Plants are happy. Even with the DE dust on them, no signs of stress. In fact, they're looking better than ever. I did some more LST today too. 8/17 - Soil Still Wet. Did some more LST. 8/18 - Soil Still Wet. Did some more LST.

8/19 - Soil is finally starting to dry. I will water tomorrow. The plants still have a dusting of DE on them, but are looking very happy. I did some LST today, anticipate I'm almost done with the LST! 8/20 - Watered today with CalMag+ and Tree Trunk. Also followed the watering with 12oz of Real Grower's Recharge per plant. 8/21 - Plants responded well to water + recharge. 8/23 - Progressing well. Growth is EXTREME. 8/25 - Spent the past couple days focusing heavily on defoliation and pruning. I don't have enough room in this tent for these plants the way I've trained them, so I've had to defoliate to remove numerous leaves that are on top of each other, as well as branches that are completely blocked from light. My general strategy is to examine each plant carefully and slowly remove the leaves and branches that aren't going to contribute to the plant's growth or yield after the flip to flower. I flip to flower in 15 days!

8/26 - Did more defoliation. This will be one of the last times I do this task before flipping to flower. I want to remove anything that isn't going to give me decent buds and then flip to flower in 2 weeks. 8/27 - Not much to update here. Tucked some leaves and did some general inspecting. Not time to water yet. 8/28 - Again a small update - I watered today with CalMag and Tree Trunk as described in this weeks additive details. I watered about 1 gallon per plant. After watering, I mixed up 1 gallon of the same water with CalMag and Tree Trunk in it with 1tsp/g of Real Growers Recharge. I aerated this using airstones and an airpump for about an hour, and then added 12oz of this mixture to each of the plants. 8/29 - Man, these plants just LOVE Real Growers Recharge when they get watered. They look very full, healthy and happy today. I'm seeing some signs that the thrips might be coming back - most of the DE dust is gone. I will spray tonight with Dr. Zymes Eliminator at the "elimination" dose of 1/2 cup per gallon of water. 8/30 - Plants responded very well to the Dr. Zymes treatment! Not time to water yet, but I suspect within the next 4 days. 8/31 - Just did a little defoliation today. Opening up the canopy for better airflow and allowing light to get to the lower branches and bud sites. 9/1 - Same yesterday as today. Everyone is looking great! I think I will spray one more time with Captain Jack's Deadbug (Spinosad) and perhaps another spray of Dr. Zymes as a form of IPM before flowering.

9/2 - It's been a little over 3 weeks since I transplanted into Dr. Earth 4-4-4 amended soil. Today I am going to top dress with a mixture of Organic Earthworm Castings, Dr. Earth 4-4-4, and Dr. Earth 3-9-4. This is my pre-flower top dress. I will flip to flower in ~5 days depending on the height of the plants. Some of the branches are maxxing out their grow space in regards to the height they will gain during the first few weeks of flower. After top dressing I will water with 200ppm RO water with CalMag and Tree Trunk (Silica) pH'd to 6.5. 9/3 - Out of town 9/4 - Out of town 9/5 - Came back from vacation. Plants are ready for flower. I started the 12/12 light cycle today! 9/6 - Watered today. Standard nutrients I have been using. Also added Recharge. 9/7 - Starting to see the stretch! Such happy girls! I did some more defoliation and pruning ONLY because I'm just running out of room. I don't want to ruin the whole harvest due to overcrowding and it's after-effects, so I'm willing to lose almost amount amount of final product to prevent that. The pictures show just how much I've defoliated and pruned. Flower has already started, but I won't change the week type on this platform until next week, especially because I just switched to flower on 9/5.

I will start a regiment of Dr Zymes, Spinosad, and Lost Coast Plant Therapy for the next week or so. 9/11 - Sprayed with Dr Zymes last night. Also have been doing some minor defoliation to allow more light penetration and airflow. 9/15 - Been spraying on and off with Dr Zymes. Sprayed last night with Spinosad. Plants are looking amazing. 9/25 - Top dressed with 3-9-4 flower girl a couple days ago. It had been 3 weeks since my last feed. Also watered on 9/22 with Fish Shit, CalMag Plus, and Tree Trunk at my usual doses. The plants look amazing. Flowering is such a beautiful process. Can't wait for the next few weeks! I've been doing light defoliation every day to keep top bud sites in the light and also keep airflow going. Lesson learned, 2 plants in a tent this size with the way I train and top is plenty! Otherwise I run out of room! 9/27 - Did some defoliation and lollipopping today. Will likely water tomorrow. 9/28 - Watered today with my usual nutrient combo described in this weekly entry. 9/29 - Plants are SO happy. Leaves are up and praying! Flowers are starting to show a little density too!

10/1 - Happy as ever. Basically on autopilot. 10/2 - Had a fun photo shoot today. Plants are looking thirsty, will likely water tomorrow. 10/3 - Watered today with the usual. Plants are starting to "stack" the nugs! 10/4 - They loved that watering. I'm loving life right now, so are the plants. I did some minor defoliation today to prevent some bud sites from being covered. 10/5 - Another great day for a photo shoot :)

10/7 - Watered today. Plants are looking great. I used less CalMag this time, I don't think the extra N from the 2-0-0 CalMag is needed as much, we'll see how they respond! I also used 10oz of Real Growers Recharge that was aerated for about 12 hours on each plant after watering. Haven't had to do much defoliation and I think I did an "almost perfect" amount. There are still plenty of fan leaves, but every single "top" bud site is not blocked! 10/8 - Not too much to update. Everything is looking great. Daytime RH has been between 50-60%, which is good for now. I did end up picking up a nice portable AC unit to help with keeping temps at 60 during the drying phase. I also bought some Grove Bags for curing, and a heat sealer to make sure I do it right! Still need to get trim bins and some more trimming equipment. I plan on doing a full plant hang to dry, with 60/60 Rh/Temp. This is probably still 4-5 weeks away, but I'm excited!
