Time for an other round. These seeds from ACE are from 2 strains one is Bubba Kush crossed with their Old Malawi, it should be an interesting cross as they have very different genetic background and content. Also got some free seeds of PCK x Kali China those should have pretty colours. Starting with 5 seeds hopefully 4 would come out. No more 5 plants in my 4x4 until I forget about bud rot, and try again!

Curently under a dimmed light, in the tent with Congo drying. Did not sanitise anything just scooped up some dirt from the top of a random container from previous grow. As far as I remember😁, I had some sort of Nitrogen toxicity in flower... so I should be good for veging 😜 Plants are under a gentle breeze. It could be a bit hotter, an easy fix as soon as Congo have finished to dry. One Bubba Kush X Malawi did not make it. After she sprout she died soon after.😓 Most possible cause of death: damping off, pythium, fusarium wilt... I wanted 4, here I have 4!!! Bublawis are 36hrs behing has they broke soil about 4 days ago. Both plants are looking the same, no way to difference them, no rank attributed. PCK x Kali China are pushing second set of leaves and start to show some internode spaces. They were born first and wind stress could have started earlier a bit.

Great progress and overall a good start! Laziness had the best of me last week as little progress was to report no update on the grow was posted. Here they are starting week 3! So far the PCK X Kalichina freebies are a tad bigger than the Bublawis, wish it was the opposite. I have no clue about how the PCK hybrid will grow, no diaries no info was found on the web. They look like they will be big, growing with nice vigour. On the other hand there is a few journal that can be found online for the Bublawis and they should be columnar, tall and Malawi dominant. Transplant is around the corner.

So far this is a great start with minimal issues. They got transplanted yesterday in 15 gal containers, no signs of complains or stress. This is my third run with this soil so it got amended with Gaia Green Power Bloom at 1tb spoon per gal. Soil was not cooked so I might see some signs later.... As usual with a strong LED light plants needed extra magnesium to grow healthy leaves, and as usual I forgot to supplement in early vedge. PCK x KC pheno 2 was the most affected. Some tips were also growing twisted, probably because of the pH swing when I used the Sensi CalMag. Still no training no lst no defo no topping... PCK x KC pheno 1 is about to be ready for topping, just waiting an other 24 to let her fully recover from transplant. She will be HUGE. Might flower her earlier. Both of the PCK x KC grows with great vigour, and indica leaves on a hybrid structure. Nice thick solid stems. Bubba x Malawi are really growing like indicas: short and tight with wide finger leaves. After removing first node for transplant I was pleased with a nice kushy skunk smell. These might be Bubba dominent! YES!!!!

Days are passing by and these ladies keep doing their part to cheer me up! Every one got topped, PCK x KC 1 was defoliated and a few leaves were tucked here and there, Got some minor issues showing up as progress goes on. Bubba Kush x Malawi's are doing great but does not have the same vigour as the PCK cross. They are slower in vedg. and woud need 2 more weeks before flip so they get to grow to a good size. On the other hand PCK cross are more established and plant 1 looks almost ready for flower, in a 4x4 with 4 plants. (...) PCK x KC pheno 2 is a fussy princess complaining about my soil. I am about to chop her down. Every one is having a good time except for her: twisted new growth, dry patches on leaves.. I was trying to be positive but she is not improving since transplant. Loosing a plant is always a last resort option. I am giving her a last week to find her way. Purpose of this grow is Bublawi, PCK x KC are freebies. Every Plant Matters (!) but here my main goal is to grow Bublawis.. Let see how tings go this week!

These are the last days before flip. Might do it before end of week. The Bubba Kush Malawi crosses are SLOOOW in veg like true buubba. The sativa genes are not showing up at this point: smell, structure, leaf shape (HUGE with fat blades). Plant 1 is a little wider but pheno 2 is really columnar. I am very excited about these. Never been so enthusiastic since my first grow!! The PCKxKC are vigorous hybrid. Plant 1 had to be chopped down of 2 nodes on all 6 main stems, with a complete defoliation (again) to lower down the whole canopy to the lowest possible. She is back at the same height as the other plant in the tent but needs to be send in flower asap, I don't have any more options to size her down. Once she will be recovered her huge roots and her great vigour will be back for sure! Hope she is not a stretcher! Pheno 2 with twisted growth is doing *a little* better... Damn I've spend some time with my 60X lope looking for some mites!! Could not find any. I don't think I have mite infestation since all 3 other plants are doing good, and also she is not doing worst. I've watered her again yesterday with a triple dose of CalMag supplement but I still might remove her.

Light have been reduced and plants got 24hrs darkness on last Wednesday. Still 4 plants, same issues as previous weeks with PCK x KC #2. I am still keeping her I bet she will look better under regular HID light. I really think she does not like my current lamps. So far looking pretty even, but this week we could see some more serious changes and stretch.

RIP, PCK x PK #2. She was beefing up nicely with strong branching out and started to flower. Thing is her leaves were so damaged I was getting worry about how I can expect fine buds to grow out of her? Also was running out of space. Despite what I've red about the Bublawi they are not columnar at all, looking wide and bushy, nice and even! Bublawi are looking similar to each other beside #1 is larger and most probably are the same phenotype. They are just about to show some pre flower!! Nice pine smell when rubbing stems. Those are very leafy plants, been removing lots and lots of leaves Last PCK x KC standing is in full flowering mode! This is day 10 from flip I don't have enough experience with plant like this to tell if she will be Fat OR Fast?

Stretch continued during this week and keeps on going!!! Tallest is the Bubba x Malawi #1 at almost 32 in! Final toughs are plant 1 is more Malawi leaning and #2 looks more Bubba style with leafier buds. But plant 1 smells more kushy with the colas of a Sativa. Only the PCK hybrid still complains about lightening but she still looks fine with limited damages on leaves. She smells like garlic so far pretty weird smell. I had to double wash my hands to make sure smell comes from her!! Plants got top dressed with 15 tb spoon of Gaia green power bloom dry amendments witch I've let sat in water for 36hrs before.

*********************************************************************************************************** *********************************************************************************************************** * EDIT: This is week 10 of ** FLOWERING ** no vegetation here!! I fucked it up and GD won't let me change it! * *********************************************************************************************************** *********************************************************************************************************** Stretch for Bublawis was impressive, between 3 - 4 times bigger after flip, leaning mostly Malawi with long colas and sativa structure. Still, plant 2 is a little more compact with rounder crown type top flowers. And they both have huge thick stems mostly coming from the Bubba. Both also have that dank pungent smell associated to Bubba's genetics. A true delight for me! 😁...😋 Hope they keep going in that direction. The PCK x KC seems to be on a race to finish. This is amazing because if the Bublawis have solid nuggets they will need more airflow to avoid all mold!!!! Trichomes are coming along nicely with bubble heads. Smell is a little different this week when rubbing stems natural oils bring aromas of celery and lemon. Let's keep in mind she has been showing flowers earlier so this is week 3 for her. I think she's just under half way done witch is impressive!! I've spotted a few purple trichomes, there is 3 in the last picture. They all drink A LOT !! I'm fairly new to soil and organic: used to be a Coco guy. I've upend my watering routine for this cycle keeping a close eye on them. They seems to enjoy it. Now giving 2gal of tap every 3 days. Luckily, tap here is 75 ppm 😇 water is naturally pretty clean. We are having a late fall here so temps are pretty high for this time of the year. Because of that I will not be flowering under 600w hps I will have to keep them under the QBs. I am blessed this time again with awesome genetics and the freedom of growing them. Got a nice grow so far with 3 different styles of flowers. All 3 plants have a few browning hairs this is kinda early... Had to tripled check for hermie for possible pollination. So far so good (I think!!) 🙏.

Fellow cannabis enthusiast, Welcome to my garden !! Flowering is going nice and smooth! Plants are thirstier than ever, drinking almost a gal a day. Light have been raised to the highest, as I've just realised I am burning my leaves on Bublawi #1. Ripening phase is just around the corner for the Bublawis and is ending this week on the PCK x KaliChina. The Bublawis are showing personalities and I can see the difference between the 2 phenotypes. Plant 1 is definitively Malawi dominant. She screams Malawi !! The smell is turning more tropical and nutty with grape undertones, and the structure and bud shape are distinctive of the African landrace. Leaf fingers are a tad wider but I know ACE Malawi have some pheno with this characteristic. Time will tell, smoke test will confirm. Plant 2 is a dense shorter bush !damn did I defoliated her since veg. but she is just leafy over leafy. It shows all along colas and in bud structure. If the resin production is good to excellent, I can deal with it=) ...But If it's a weak pheno I will not Love her anymore!!!! Again, time will tell. Smell is turning sweet and flowery, with touch of pine. The PCK x KaliChina. These are free seeds. They have lab results with 12% THC, on the Low side for me. Growing them for fun and curiosity. And bexause WE NEVER KNOW! what pheno is hidden un the shell of a seed!!! Well, she is over half way done THIS IS THE FASTEST plant I ever had!! Here in Quebec Canada we used to have M39 strain ready to chop in 39 days it was garbage tasteless low THC strain!! Personal record is 52 days but this pheno have exceptional characteristic, really early to ripen!! She is entering harvest window and I bet this is her last 10 days!! Good news: Resin production is exceptional and the smell is addictive. Bad news: She is just the leafiest plant ever with small nnuggets!

Week 4 of flowering, week 6 from flip. New decor, new light. Finally temperature are low enough to use HID lightening. Hooked the air cool hood with 600w eye Hortilux. Humidity gets naturally lower at this time of the year and with the extra heat from the lamp and added ventilation I can get 40-55%. GONE is the kushy smell!! This was half the reason for this grow. Feeling sad but it might come back before harvest. I doubt. Still smell is addictive and complex but leaning on the Malawi side. Plant 1 is smelling like what I'd expect from a pure Malawi with a hearty touch. Plant 2 is smelling a bit rotten but mostly hearty, nutty, tropical an paint thinner. Resin and oil production is abundant. At least 4 week left. PCK x KC is enjoying new the HPS. I think she can take a full more week.

Week have started with mixed feelings as I've learned that ACE used the Katsu cut of Bubba Kush to do this breeding. Their is 2 things I love more than the others about ganja: a great sativa high and dank kushy taste. This hybrid most likely won't have the kushy taste that I hunt. ACE is a first class company and they suggested me to look at their Bubba hash strain for this specific therp profile. Anyway here I am at week 5 they don't look bad at all! Just not the smell I expected. The Bublawi 1, Malawi dominant is so so frosty she looks silver. Some pistils are slowly turning brown. She is done bulking up and starts to ripen. Same for the Bublawi 2, bubba dominant she is just a lil less covered with sugar but looks tasty and killer. Took them all out for inspection as they sit under HPS lamp I can't see nothing!!! Also ACE asked for a few shots.. The PCK x KC finished in beauty. I looked at trichomes under natural light and couldn't find any amber, so she will stay an other week. Had a beginning of K def spoted after watering and posted last week update. I have been using potassium sulphate to correct deficiency and supply extra K in my soil. I've bought a 5 lbs bag for cheap. This bag will last forever only 2ml in a gallon makes it to 400pm (saturation point). This instantly correct any deficiency. Also doing this when I wet my soil before transplant. Never mind if it's not *real* organic but in my own book, if Epsom Salts is OK for organic growers and is magnesium sulphate I don't see no problem using potassium sulphate. About 3 weeks for the Bublawis.

Thanks to it's airy bud structure, I have been sampling bottom of plant smaller nugs that somehow dries first only 4 days after chop. This is uncured, but really fresh cannabis still have all it's terpenes and oils, perfect for testing. After cure and longer testing I will come back to add final review and comments. What a great surprise on all aspects: smell, taste, effects, and even look, despite like I've said airy buds. Effects are full body with a clean head. I was missing this body kind of feeling that brings a touch of comfort, warmth, relaxation. This one is a heavy hitter with a touch of psychedelic, but that goes away with expirations, leaving a pleasant taste in mouth and nose, with peace and without worry. A lot of things can happen with hybrids and crosses. As ACE commented, this phenotype seems similar to their Kali China mother and it shows on it's effects. This is strong stuff. Even with high tolerance effects are noticeable at lower dose and she is most probably above the 12% THC from ACE's sample, but more on the higher range they give for a Kali China (14-22%). Taste remind me the one of Hasplant or Powerplant: heartiness and hashish but with extra notes of dankness, sour, and something that I cannot pinpoint. The buds smell a combination of pine, lemon and oil that somehow blend together into mango. ACE always surprises and deliver with unique plants and effects. This one is really enjoyable and makes it perfect for daytime lazy days, or night you want to relax.

HARVEST PARTY for PCK x KC!! This plant have some great characteristics like being a fast finisher, and turning fully purple: calyx, leaves and trichomes. This pheno have a nice bright smell of lemon, pine and vanilla with decaying petals and high resistance for mold. On the other side, buds are fluffy and airy below the top 6 inches with a ton of leaves everywhere!! Resin production was beyond expectations for a medium THC strain. She finished covered in frost and looks killer. After trimming smell is hearty and berries. *************************************** comments from ACE *...Your PCK x Kali China looks indeed outstanding, she is without any doubt a Kali China elite pheno more than PCK, yours is very close to our favorite Kali China mother we use in our KC breeding, just slightly better yielding and with slightly more open flower structure.*

An other week has gone by as they enjoy their days gaining weight under the light... Bubba dominant aka plant 2 is still hungry.. K deficiency progressed on lower leaves so she received two watering with some Canna coco nutrients to avoid major nutes issues. It's a little late for top dressing and have time for the soil to process it. As she is still very bushy I removed some fans to open her up. Don't want to take to much because she is already cannibalising herself!! The Malawi pheno aka plant 1 is getting heavier with more resin and even more trichomes!! Branches starts to bend down with the extra weight, and she will need a staking job in the next days. I decided to lower down the light cycle to 11-13 last week to diminish stress. As the week went by I did not saw any improvements... Yesterday I realize light cycle is now 13-11 !!!! Oh, well I think I will just leave it like that.

They keep looking better and better. At this point it's only a matter of trichomes, still some clear and no amber. If a catastrophe would happen they could be chop. The Bubba pheno is slightly re flowering. Smell is moderate with notes of pine, grape and wood. Malawi dominant is so frosty! Also literally dripping with resin as I've found some shiny drops on a few sugar leaves. Smell is pure Malawi: woody, earthy and oil. In the best scenario they will be ready to chop next week.

✊2 different phenotypes to try. Not what I had in mind, but they will be a real delight. My guess is plant 1 will be very, very strong and plant 2 would be very very strong as well. ******************************************************** SMOKE TEST, REPORT & COMMENTS 2 WEEKS AFTER ********************************************************** Feels like I did not get a phenotype that is a real blend of those 2 legends. 2 seeds, 2 different plants, one looks like a Bubba, the other one like a Malawi. Results are not what I was expecting, has my first criteria to grow this strain was to improve the terpene profile of the Malawi. Plant 1, aka Malawi dominant Really finished like a classic Malawi (yes, Sativaman already grew a few of them😍...). Light green, chunky hard buds, drenched in resin, great calyxes ratio, and full of trichomes. Smell is what I'd describe as nutty woody oily like other Malawi. And like other Malawi I can get some vanilla and pine undertones that seems to go away in the first months. Gotta say, buds are harder than usual, and resin production was exceptional.. Effects are heavy. For seasoned smokers. Usually I smoke joints around one gram, with this one I've learned quickly that smaller is better. At higher dose it's good for greening out. Very heavy and psychadelic feelings, like edibles at very high dose (300mg thc+). I guess it would be fantastic for medical uses as a morphine substitute. At lower dose you get the excitement of Sativas, with increased hart beat, feeling like moving and doing stuff. Still some heaviness and distortion. At this strenght, when you get a hit, the psychedelic effects hit you and this is what I Love with this strain! It feels like you've jump out of plane in parachute, nice haed spin rush with diziness, Do I like her?, or Do I Love her?! = I LOVE her !!! this is the best *Malawi* I have ever grown!! Best effects, most appealing harvest, best burning qualities, but not with a dankier smell... Plant 2 aka Bubba dominant Finished with almost all qualities a grower could expect: killer looking buds, purple colour, rock hard buds, covered with trichomes ... but with very little smell and no taste!! =( ... I know this is a major deception and I am very sad to write this.. Truth hurt but it is what it is. ACE did not used a modern cut, neither the classic one for this cross: they used the Katsu cut. While Katsu is the father of every Bubba, the Katsu cut is a floral version. I've smoked a lot of this when I was young.... Nothing bad to say but not what you expect when you talk about Bubba kush. ACE's mission is to preserve and spread biodiversity so I guess using an old school underground cut for a cross, even for a *classic*, makes sense.. *sight* .... Effects, well she smokes like an indica, not too heavy, and as the opposite to her Malawi sister, effects gets more psychedelic on the mid term instead of the short term. While not being too strong this is a nice blend of both body and mind buzz. So.. Do I like her? or Do I Love her!?? I like her.... this is not exceptional smoke, a little blend, and reason to grow this was for some Dank, Stinky, Pungent, Skunky aromas. None of them are here.

Bubba Kush meeting (mating) with Old Malawi killer 😋😘 Bubba Kush is one of my best indica, for taste, smell and effects while Malawi is my best sativa for it's effects. This is officially a wicked and insane cross according to Phylos Galaxy!! To resume, these 2 specific genetics have a lot of differences and something special could happen when they are crossed!!! *************************************** Grow cycle went like a charm. While in vegetation both phenotypes grew at about the same paste except for plant 2 being more columnar but denser. Soon after flip the Malawi dominant, plant 1, stretched more and the Bubba showed thicker stems. Total stretch is between 2-3 times. After flip bud formation went fast, and the difference between the 2 plants kept pushing. Plant 1 showed the conic bud structure and plant 2 had the flat crown and more leaf like an indica. They have both ripen at about the same paste all along weeks. Results are two different but somehow similar, crazy and stunning phenotypes. The Malawi dominant plant seems to be the one with the less influence of the cross. It looks similar to Malawi but chunkier, with rock hard buds that are covered with trichomes at a level I've never reached before. The buds are dripping with resin and oil. Out of the tent she smelles like a bouquet of flower but when gently rubbed the buds smells like Malawi with hearty touch. Leaf to bud ratio is excellent and trimming was easy. The Bubba phenotype looks absolutely killer. I don't know if it's from the Malawi or the Bubba Kush but she have some purple hues mostly at the top and some fully purple calyxes mostly at the bottom. The level of resin is not close to the Malawi, but the smell is dankier with a touch of rotten smell, grape and heart. She was leafy and it showed in her buds. trimming took more time.

@sativaman, the truth shall be revealed only after curing. I think some terpenes stay only for a short time and some are shy. The shy terpenes comes out only after a month or so i. The jar. Sativa is some time like this. I smoke joint so not a big fan of kush. I think kush is great with a bong.

@Med_in_Tropic, I did not know about Katsu. Just saw a vid on youtube he explains the difference and origins of pre-98 Bubba kush and the Katsu cut. then he comments: if I give you the 2 different bags to smoke you would know instantly they both are Bubba Kush and pronably won't be able to identify witch is witch.. Happy to hear that!! Characteristics should be very similar...

Dear friend, you may have mite infestation. This could cause more trouple on some strain than other. Ace did listed resitance to spider mite on PCK x KC to be "average-high". For me, if it is not very high then it would need attention.

@Med_in_Tropic, I sure hope it is not mites.. never had any mites issues indoor. I cannot see any bugs or signs even with the jewellers lope. No signs of web or honey like with aphids. From my experience running these LED it still can be a Magnesuim problem. Really crossing my fingers for a mag deficiency. Letting the soil drying out a bit and tomorrow I will drench it with a triple dose of epsom salts and see what happens. Otherwise I have some 'Doctor Doom Spider Mite Knock Out' I used it on my basil plants a few years ago: all leaves turned black, dried and died..😰😱 Last resort insecticide...
