Day 1, 2 - Starting w/ 3 seeds only to leave room for improvement. After an approx. 14 hr. soak in a very mild kelp solution, followed up w/ paper towel method in seed tray placed on heating pad in grow tent (8 sq. ft.) w/ all vent windows open and zipper just a bit cracked. Re-hydrate every 6 hrs. w/ mild kelp solution (5 drops in approx. 1l. 6.5/7.0ph tap H20 [just waiting on liquid ph/ppm pens to be delivered]) kept on heating pad, ready to use, to match temps. Paper towel dried quite a bit overnight on Day 1. More generous w/ H20 in a.m. and placing dish of boiling H20 inside tent. Conditions, heat and humidity, almost instantly perfect. Tap roots about 18 hrs. or so after paper towel. 2nd morning tray is still a bit dry in morning but not quite as much. Tap roots about 1/4 inch on all three. Repeated what I did yesterday. Going to consider partial dome covering overnight. But so far, so good.👍 Day 3 Wow! Could not ask for a better reception! Thanks everyone, so far, for your time and EXTREMELY helpful feedback. I think the general motto here will be that all advice is very welcome. So tap roots beefed up really quick. About 1" if straightened. Gotta get them into medium. Strained 3 cups Canna coco coir, twice in standing tap water, last w/ distilled. Ph fell quite a bit. I guess it's true that even the best coco should be rinsed. No joy thinking ahead to 10gal. pots. Lowest reading at 3.5. Mixed 1 part perlite to 3 parts moist coco (just 250ml. cups). Should really have added it to dry coco in hindsight. Cut drainage in 3 cups and filled about 3/4 full. Might want to pack more medium around them once they stretch. Set them aside for tomorrow. Environment in tent has been perfect all day. Paper towel moistened about 4 times today. Not liking this dry heat, especially during night, but manageable during day. Sure enough, this morning the paper was pretty dry and the tips of the taproots were complaining. Gave them nice soak then put them in their new home. Elevated cups on grate (bbq screen 👌) above drainage tray. I'll come up w/ something better b/c I don't want metal from grate messing w/ readings in runoff. A bit pissed at self about roots. Mycorrhizae coming tomorrow. Damn. Mixed a weak nutrient sol. (toward 300+ml. per 250ml. cup) for now until ppm pen arrives (I'll lend you mine ExperimentGREEN 😋). Instinct tells me moisture and darkness might suffice until the surface breaks, but that it may be safer to err on the side of nature and introduce light cycle now. Will put up some pics very soon. Please feel free to backseat. I am not planning on growing strictly organic or synthetic. Just by need so far. I don't mind knowing if I am failing miserably so that I can correct it. * These little girls are just about to say hello. Can just see the backs of their necks. Flushed a bit of yesterday away w/ a couple cups of distilled. Hope this pen is working correctly. Distilled H20 tested 500ppm! Ummmm.... Standing runoff tested around the same. After a bit of fiddling, fresh runoff is 388ppm (or is it??). My tap water was only in the high 200's. Looking into this. * Had an idea. Final grow area will be laundry room. Might experiment later w/ splicing into dryer ventilation. Duct wye and out fan should direct scent outside (or make my clothes smell like GC 😁). Possibly be able to recycle dryer heat and humidity as needed. Something to think about. Day 5 or something Been a little horny getting this GD started. Not too proud to admit it 😀. Now Week 1 officially begins! Climate control is obvious focal point. Long weekends are fantastic and all, but w/ mail flowing again, I'm going to be opening boxes like it's Xmas (sure is fun to see my little boy's reaction when told I paid $ for worm poop, bat poop, fish juice on the internet!). Should be able to tackle temp. and humidity issues just in time. Much needed. They've all popped. 2 have their serrated leaves. Flushed soil w/ 0ppm water to correct things. Gotta leave shit alone! Runoff less than 20ppm. Ph 7.5+ Sol. = 2.5ml. CalMag; 5ml. Kelp; 1 drip Ph down = >200ppm; Ph 5.5 Soil = Ph 6.5 (hopefully a bit less once things soak and settle); 20-22°C Air = 26°C/18% (stuck them in dome)

I wonder if adding top dressing of worm castings to coco coir will be beneficial or defeat the purpose of a soil-less approach? Any informed advice and suggestion is welcome.

No need to make your first grow more complicated than it needs to be. I would recommend making your grow as conventional as possible. Focus on finding the correct lighting levels, creating a full canopy before switching to flower and not killing your plants by adding too many nutrients. Generally speaking, there are enough variables balancing these components, especially in an LED/coco grow, that adding another won't benefit you much if at all. Growing is fun but most of us screw up many times before we get it right so patience and astute observation is key. Good luck.

Last question was pretty noob haha...I AM pretty noob afterall. Curious what rules others go by r.e. flushing their coco. I've heard some say, as a rule, once a week. Others only when probs. appear. Also, how often do you feed between straight watering, or do you feed ev. day? Ty

If u in coco u have to feed everywatering and keep tabs of the ppm u dont have to worry about flushing coco unless you over feed her its just like hydro your ph has to stay in a coco range your plant uptake is like hydro if u watch ppms you will not have to flush till the last 3 weeks u need a 14- 21 day flush in coco but feed her every watering exp with calmag👍👍✌️✌️🍻🍻

As solo said above, best to keep it simple: regarding the flush, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Use a flush to clear out the medium when there’s a problem, otherwise feed/water as usual. Regarding nutes and feed, a good rule of thumb is to feed with nutes every other watering until you dial in perfect amounts and Required frequency (only acquired through experience). Hope it helps and reach out any time. Cheers

First grows are exciting but scary! liked and followed! I like your little skewer grids! BTW, You should be able to continue your root stuff -- it pays off... The bloom additives you're using in veg are most likely not doing any good on the other hand. I like your enthusiasm, though! You might want to look into lucas formula -- not to switch, but just to get a good idea of what feed is actually needed. I overfed for a looong time, even if you dont burn its not just a waste of nutes youre loading your medium with salts and can inhibit growth.

Looks great! I was also thinking of buying a Reverse Osmosis unit because my tap water is about 1050ppm but I'm not sure the RO would bring it down to where I'd like it to be.

Looking good so far.. some advise: BE PACIENT!!! I see you chomping at the bit to transplant/feed more/ get to the next step... This is gonna take 3 months if it's a photoperiod 3-4 weeks In the solo cup from seed 3-4 weeks veg in 1 gal 6-10 weeks flower in 3gal pot Don't rush it... wait untill your container is FULL OF ROOTS before you transplant 👍🏻 Best of luck nothing like the first Grow

I think that the perfect ph for your ladies it’s 6.5, with this ph they can assimilate all the macro and micro elements.. also temp of water it’s important, if you drink them with a water that is 21 degree Celsius you have the best ossigenation for your plants! Second thing but it’s only my opinion, the firsts three week don’t use many nutrients, you have the risk to burn them.. No stress=more profit! Third thing: in this second cycle i’ve Used a spray solution with a little bit of nitrogen concentrated at 28%, my ladies answer very well!
