just to add some confusion to the situation is ppm are a bad way of measuring.
@gmslave most likely has a ppm meter that uses a 0.5 scale while the 1100 ppm could be on a 0.7 scale which is 800 on the .5 scale. EC is god and is what all ppm metera read then convert.
Much of the U.S. will experience a 0.50 conversion ratio, whereas many other parts of the world utilize a 0.64 and even 0.70 conversion ratio.

oh and ppm/ec only tells you where you are with the feed, all plants will eat differently so its best to use ppm as a guidance and more learn how to look at the plant to see what is asking for
