By this point in time, having grown for 5 years now. I thought I was immune to making amateur mistakes... Arrogance! Didn't do proper research on the UV heat bulbs I bought, and found out I was using them improperly. I had one pointing on our left here, and I was wondering, "what the hell is going on, what kind of deficiency is this and why isn't it showing up on right?" The trich development also seemed to slow down. Well, it was because of that UV lamp. Had it pointed RIGHT at her! I faced it up towards the top of the tent, and all of a sudden the trichs started developing normally again. She's also started fattening up more.
Long story short: If you decide to use a UV heat lamp during the winter, make sure you point it away from your plants. (Common sense to most, lmao)
As far as right goes, she's looking like a prime example of what this strain is capable of. Chunky and dense golf ball buds all over, coated in a thick layer of sticky, stinky trichomes. Since I began the 3 week flush last week, she's also starting to exhibit the Autumn Color Effect a little.
Here's a little synopsis as to why I'm flushing these organic plants. From what I've picked up (from other organic growers both here, and on Youtube), is that you want to mimic the natural cycle as close as possible. So my rationale is that as a plant reaches fall, the rain from the winter washes away alot of the dormant nitrates from the soil. This in turn works like a longterm flush, producing the autumn color effect, and depletes excess chlorophyll in the plant as a whole. I do this to maximize terpenoid content and THC production, which I think brings out the plants potential. Am I wrong in looking at it this way? I think I'm a bit weird doing this because I see a lot of other organic growers here feeding all the way up until harvest... Lmk your thoughts in the comments, it would be much appreciated
Plants look great, really green and healthyπ
Question?
If these plants are autos? Why the switch to a 12/12
light schedule? Just thinking you will lose alot of yeild
this way as autos don't need the light flipped to 12 hrs a day.
It's like your taking 6 hrs of bud building away from your plants.
I like running 18/6, just so the plants get a little rest at lights out.
I had to ask the question, inquiring minds would like to know..
Have a great day!!!
@northernMike, Oh yeah, I've used them as a resource for years now! Absolutely indispensable when you're a newbie/amateur like me. And yeah, I'll just stick to the 12/12. I really don't want to stress these girls because they're pretty happy so far. No need to rain on their parade. Cheers m8! βπ
@RunWithIt,Not to sure how it would affect the plants by switching back and forth,
I'm sure they would experience a bit of stress. Maybe try and up the hours of light a
little at a time if possible, if not just keep doing what your doing and change on the
next run of autos, I'm sure you'll notice the difference, I hope this helps..
Every grow is an experiment, I'm still learning and trying different things on every
grow, Tons of fun!! Luck with your next experimentππ
My favourite site to go on when I'm having problems is groweedeasy.com, huge help, great site,
all kinds of info, check it out.. Later!!
