Took the seeds from glass of water overnight to moist paper towels in a Tupperware, stored in a dark cupboard at 25C Tim taproot showed roughly 24 hours later. 6 for 6. Planted in slightly moistened Fox Farms Ocean Grown.
5 out of 6 have sprouted, the one helmet head I had was finally successfully knocked loose. It’s one of the Atlas Top Gun seeds that hadn’t sprouted yet, and I fumbled one of those into the hole, so it may have gone in taproot up. Oh well.
Well, as you can see I lost the blue half of my blurple light. I just ordered a Mars Hydro FC3000, so if these gals can make due with this funky red light for a bit longer, they’ll be getting a decent upgrade. Same to anyone who is following my grow, you’ll have something proper to look at! I have also started the process of transplanting early, with the first Top Gun transplanted on 11/20 and a second Top Gun as well as a Purple skunk transplanted 11/22. I waited til the medium was dry, transferred into a 5 gallon with FFOF and mykos to reduce risk of shock before watering. Opted to transplant early in hopes of avoiding any triggering of the flowering hormone, though I’ve also been told that it’s bro-science. These pictures were taken on 11/19, will update again later this week.
Finished transplanting the last 2 today, all other transplants are looking pretty healthy. The cold weather kicking in is affecting the temp and humidity in the basement, but I’m trying to keep up and make adjustments. Took some flash photos since that red light is so distracting, have a Mars Hydro FC-3000 enroute should arrive in the middle of next week. All transplants are into 5 Gallon cloth pots of Fox Farms Ocean Forest. I also used XTreme Gardening Mykos to reduce the risk of transplant shock and hopefully give these autos a boost.
Well, finally got my new Mars Hydro FC3000 in, and it’s a beauty! Hope the girls like it as much as I think they will. I have it roughly 25 inches above the plants at 50% on the dimmer which should be a little stronger than what they’re used to, and will ramp it up through out the week til I get to 100%. The white 1 gallons in the back are some clones of an unknown breeder Black Jack and Nebula, please ignore. Starting to take off, might introduce light nutes starting next week.
Ladies are looking good this week! Big jump from week 5-6 (or 4-5 if you start day 1 at sprout instead of germ). The tallest is a Top Gun at close to 9” the shortest a Purple Skunk at around 6”. Introduced light nutrients fed twice a week on Monday and Friday. Trying to keep up with the humidifier keeping it around 66/65 with some fluctuation. Wish I had this light from the beginning, these girls are loving it. We have some pistils showing so I believe that means we’re in pre-flower, wonder if they are a little on the small side for where they should be. Did the transfer retard some of the growth? Did that 5-6 days with only half my original grow light hurt the yield significantly? Hope not, just glad they’re happy and healthy.
Alright, we’re in flower territory. Had some little visitor that was munching on a few fan leaves, decided early in the week to spray it with Nuke Em by Flying Skull before I saw any flower formation, just one light application. Hopefully that takes care of that. These things exploded again, happy to see it. Also reduced the light via the dimmable switch to about 65%, now back up to 75% and tried to keep it atleast 27” from the tallest plant as there was some light burn taking effect on them. Overall happy with the week to week growth, hope it keeps up at this pace during flower. Will be introducing a tsp of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom to the nute regiment this upcoming week.
Flowering process continues along nicely, playing with the light to keep it atleast a foot above the 26” light, have the dimmer set to about 90% currently. Continues to get cooler so I’m trying to keep the humidity low. Hoping the cold weather bring some purple out of the Sensi Seeds Purple Skunk, might try to make some ph’d ice cubes too to put on the soil. Can’t wait to see these buds mature!
Still seeing a good amount of week to week growth, both the tallest and shortest plants are both phenos of Top Gun. I’ve been trying to introduce ice cubes to the soil as the temp has risen a bit this week and I’m hoping to see some purple in that purple skunk. Shut off my dehumidifier trying to keep the RH between 45-50. Crept the light back up to 100%. Still feeding nutes on Monday and Friday. I also shifted the plants around a bit trying to expose more bud sites to light.
The purple skunk buds are starting to grow while the Top Guns look close to completion. Cloudy trichs, no amber yet. I got a new microscope that seems to work pretty well, capturing the pictures is a little tough though. I’ll get better at it as I toy with it. I’m going to increase the nutes to 1.5tsp each of Tiger Bloom and Grow Big, 2 tsp of Big Bloom to give it a boost before the finish line. First time with autos, we’ll see if that’s too much for them or not. Surprised over all by the quality of buds on the Too Gun, hoping we see some coloration on the Purple Skunk soon.
Getting real close to harvest, the trich pics are from a few days ago, the Top Guns are looking cloudy, just no amber yet. Still waiting for better bud and trichrome development for the Purple Skunk, but they’re chugging along now, I expect I’ll end up with some decent bud from those plants as well
Alright, I’m probably going to chop Top Gun #1 soon, hard to see with what I got for pics, but definitely looking cloudy with a sprinkle of amber in the trichs department. Allegedly this is a more “Indica” leaning hybrid, so I want a 70/30 spread of Cloudy to Amber. The bud itself looks as good if not better than the stock photo displayed by Atlas, so very happy there. Top Gun #2 looks just a week or two behind her sis, and is also a beautiful bud. Purple skunks are starting to swell a little which is nice, no coloration yet, I’ll continue to sprinkle in ph’d ice cubes two or three times a week. Purple Skunk #3 looks to be getting some light burn, so I reduced the strength to about 85%, pulled it up a bit and moved it into a spot with less direct light in the tent. All in all, I expect to harvest Top Gun #1 within the next 7 days; TG#2 will follow, and I’m not rushing the skunks. Also, my old humidity and ph reader went out and the past few weeks I’ve had it a lot closer to the lamp. I recently changed this and now have what I consider to be a more accurate reading.
I’ve mostly been focused this past week on harvest for my two Top Guns, which made me late on updating. The Purple Skunks are starting to come along, though, there’s an obvious either ph issue or nutrient issue, but they’re close enough to harvest that I’m not overly concerned. I have been using snow instead of my ph’d ice cubes in order to try to get her to live up to her name and throw some purple out, but so far no luck. Maybe the snows ph is out of whack, I might melt some and test it before I do that again. Expecting between 1 and / more weeks before chop, will check the trichs soon.
Easy grow, threw some really pretty colors during the fade, smelled of gas and fruit during the chop, but that has faded somewhat after a 6-7 day dry and it smells nuttier and sweet now. Curious as to the final result, jarred up TG1 with a Boveda 62, TG2 to follow.
I am extremely pleased with the appearance, smell, and density of the buds. The harvest is on the smaller side, that being said it was my first run with autos to sort of “re-teach” myself with a year off since growing my last photo plant. Started out with sub-optimal lighting, and the tent that I am currently using is homemade out of pvc and reflective material. But for freebies, man are these girls pretty. 2 different phenos, one tall and lanky with more purples, the other squared, denser, bigger yield, not as much color on leaves or bud but still pretty and gassy, with fruit smells, just like her sis. I’ll update in a few weeks after cure and let you know how she smokes! I’ll also update once dried with a total harvest, I don’t weight it wet since I did bud wash due to that one spray of Flying Skull Nuke Em during the last week of veg, so between the stems and the water weight I rather just get an accurate number once it’s dry.
@UkDank420,
Thanks growmie! Hoping my next run to be even better, will be going back to photos, will probably pop some seeds in the next two weeks or so 👍
