1/11-Started flushing SD #1 & #2 using Flawless Finish. I've read various ideas on how best to use it, one time and then just water, or use it for each flush until harvest. I've opted to do the first flush in the early morning and then 6 hours laters another flush with plain water at 6.3 Ph. On the initial flush I ran 5 gallons of water w Flawless Finish through each 5 gallon pot and had runoff of 6.3 and 800 ppm. I'm going to stick to normal feeding schedule on the GG #1 for at least a couple of more weeks. It seems to be making a move in the right direction now and I'll see how the bud development goes in the next few days and evaluate. 1/12-Watered GG #1 to runoff with nutes listed above (minus Flawless Finish). Added Bud Ignitor into the mix. Ph was 6.3 and 800 ppm. Runoff 6.3/1,000 ppm. Bud sites are starting to develop further but still have a ways to go. 1/13-Did another flush on SD's. Runoff was 6.3 and 700 ppm. The first signs of the leaves turning yellow is happening. Trichromes are getting milkier and the very first traces of amber albeit tiny traces. The buds are getting very thick and dense. GG #1 is continuing to look better and better. Morning after SD's...milkier, more trace of amber, more yellow leaves. Feels like we are heading for something really good. 1/15-SD #2 is showing significant amount of yellowing leaves. Trichomes are definitely getting milky and a few more signs of amber. SD #1 has less yellow leaves. 1/15-Watered GG #1 with nute mix of 6.5Ph and 800 ppm. Runoff was 6.14 and 1350 which a little higher that I wanted. 1/16-Flushed SD's to run off with Flawless Finish. Runoff at 6.4Ph and 600 ppm. 1/17-Both SD plants are starting to show lots of yellow leaves now. The trichomes are definitely milky now but there is very little amber. I'm starting to wonder if waiting for more amber will push me past the sweet spot of not to early not too late. GG#1 is coming along nicely albeit alot slower than the SD's. It looks like they are at least a couple of weeks behind the SD although the plant is alot taller.

When I watered each of the plants with Ph balanced water only the runoffs for each plant were about 30% higher ppm than I put in on the previous watering with nutes (see numbers above). The plants look very healthy. Should I be concerned with this and if so why?

Iโ€™d be concerned with the strength of your feeds - the EC/PPM in general. Youโ€™re hovering around 1500 ppm which is a very strong feed, especially for autoflowers. I rarely go above 1000 PPM with photos. You are starting to see some signs of lockout on a few and one has some signs of N toxicity (SD2). Iโ€™d personally do a flush with reg water and run a solid gallon or two thru the bottom of each.. cut those feeds in half going forward. Advanced is so โ€œcomplexโ€ of a line up I donโ€™t know what to tell you to cut out of that regimen but Iโ€™d be feeding 650-800 max going forward unless thereโ€™s signs of deficiencies.

Before I watered plants today the Ph was 6.0 and 1,000 ppm. I added nutrient solution of 6.2 and 1,000 ppm to each plant until runoff. Runoffs were 1,300 to 1,700 range. Ph was 5.9. Is this in the ballpark. If I add 1,000 ppm to existing 1,000 ppm and get less is that right?

meter callibrated? what is error% or +/- accuracy of tool? pH dropping can be microbes. This depends a bit on how well buffered your nutrients are and even your tap water pH. (or whatever water source). You probably want to target a slightly higher pH with soil. It gives a bit more room for error on the low side. You drop a few tenths below 5.8-6.0 and you can lock out some nutes very quickly. you aren't adding 1000ppm to 1000ppm (false perception). You don't want it escalating way over 1000ppm in nearly all contexts. Some living soils or super soils may have a valid arguement, but in genearl you don't want your concentration of dissolved nutrients spiking or even gradually increasing over time will also cause major problems but further down the road before you see it. You want to maintain a safe and fertile concentration and ratio (balance) of nutrients. This is the point of runoff. get 10-15% runoff and it should avoid any buildup of concentration. This runoff should go down drain or thrown outside. Don't let it soak back in to pot. This will maintain your pH too -- assuming microbial issues are not causing a wild swing in pH. some evaporation occurs between irrigations. this increases "EC" or ppm of the water soaked into the soil. The excess runoff during irrigation will average everything back out and the higher concentrations are flushed out. What you add is significantly more than what moisture remains, so it safely returns it back to what you feed. your soil has nutes in it. This is why you don't see it running out at 1000ppm. The plant isn't clawing and it looks pretty late into flower. While i wouldn't make any drastic changes at this point in time, i'd be careful of those ppms rising too high. Watch for any hint of burnt tips or leaf symptoms. if they start to pop up, maybe give 1/2 dose for a couple fertilliations and make sure that runoff ppm drops a bit. other note -- runoff won't accurately tell you what is in the soil. it should probably be a bit higher, unless you get a ton of runoff, at which point it may be damn near what you feed if enough fertilied water runs through it. It's a good thing to check and will hint at an impending problem, but don't read it as "my soil is 1700ppm" because that's not what it is telling us. it is likely lower than what runoff is. watch for relative changes.. is it going up? down? staying the same is more often the target if all is going well. 1.5EC or 750ppm is probably a better target for future. Soil is more complicated than that since you have some nutes in it and slowly ramp up feeding as the plant eats up what is pre-built into soil. there are many factors involved with soil to consider. if you stick in this range and religious about runoff and not having any dry pockets of substrate after any irrigation, it's virtually impossible to run into any nutrient issues. if you irrigate with water only, a little less runoff is fine. be religious about teh 10% when you fertilize, but any water-only irrigation you just want to ensure there are no dry pockets. this requires some runoff to be sure. Unless your intention is to lower concentrations of nutrients in soil, of course.. extra runoff can quicly do that in case of toxicity.

I'm using Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish to flush my Sour Diesel autos. I've read varying ideas as how best to use the product. Should I use it on my first flush only or continue to use it on all waterings up to harvest?

Advanced Nutrients recommends the following: Use 2 mL per Liter during the last week of the bloom phase. https://www.advancednutrients.com/products/flawless-finish/ I'd be inclined to use it the way they advertise it. But with all nutrient companies you can get away with half doses if its needed. Some people just flush with ph'd water vs using and flushing agent. Its all personal choice. Best of Luck and Happy Growing

My 2 Sour Diesel autos are at the 11 week mark. I've flushed them for one week now and they are getting lots of yellow leaves and the trichomes are getting milky. However there is hardly a trace of any amber trichomes. Do I wait for the amber? Am I being impatient?

Yeah impatient ๐Ÿ˜‚you're so close though, those buds have still got a bit of bulking up to do. I don't start flushing until I see all Cloudy and then harvest at 10-20%amber,it can take 1-3 weeks for Ambers to appear
