11/10- Checked the PPFD readings for all the plants this morning. My research suggests that the proper lighting for seedling/week 1 is somewhere between 200-400 PPFD. My readings for each plant are GG#1-391, GG#2-310, GG ##-330, SD#1-403, SD#2-320, SD#3-366. Definitely on the high side but the plants all seem to be doing ok. I'm using Optic Slim 320S light at 24" above the plants at 60% setting on blue and 20% on red. Did first full watering on GG #1 and SD 1,2, 3. Half gallon per plant. TDS readings as follows: GG #1-932, SD #1-944, SD #2-894, SD #3-719. Light schedule is now 19/5 . Transplanted GG 2 and SD #3 into 3 gal grow bags. Moved out of tent into another room under Vivosun VS 2000 light to give more room in grow tent. I'm looking to find out early which of these plants are going to be the stars and give them 100% billing. Those get to play on the big stage. The others move down a step. Right now GG #1 &2 and SD #1 &2. are in the grow tent. 11/11-Lowered lights to 20" in grow tent w 100% blue on Optic Slim 320S. Got average of 450-500 PPFD. Target is 600. GG 2 &3 reached 7 days...GG #3-1.25 in, GG #2-1.0 in..considerably smaller than GG #1 at 7 days. Room 2 PPFD is around 280 for GG 2&3. Added .5 gallon of 6.3 PH water to GG 2&3 and added a bit more FFOF soil to the pots. TDS 900-1000 11/12-Playing with the Blue on Red Channels on the 320S to see what effect it has. Turned Blue to 80% and Red to 20% to see if I can gently raise the PPFD to 600 ish. Lowered the lights to 18 ". PPFD readings were 475-525. 11/13-Noticed slight discoloration happening on GG #1 so I turned off Red channel and went 100% blue. Set the lights at 18" which showed PPFD in 450-475 range. Will monitor. 11/14-Started applying first LST on SD 1&2 and GG #1. Watched a video the previous night on Canatomatoes diary (https://growdiaries.com/diaries/71425-fastbuds-blue-dream-039-matic-grow-journal-by-canatomatoes) describing his Topping methods. It inspired me to try it. I guess I'll find out soon whether that was a smart move or dumb as f..k. This morning I topped the GG #1 which was looking very healthy. Both SD #1&2 loo0k like candidates as well. I'll see how GG #1 is looking before I go any further. UPDATE- I topped SD #1 later in the day. Also watered GG #1 and SD #1 w .5 gallon 6.3 PH. Small runoff on both. TDS: GG #1-700 ish and 6.2, SD #1-900 ish and 6.2. 11/15-The morning after topping and both GG #1 and SD #1 are looking great so far. Fingers crossed I get no adverse reaction. The other 2 plants in the grow tent are doing great as well, particularly the SD #2 which I was tempted to top but decided not to so I can hopefully see the difference in growth and yield between the two methods. I decided to do a little experimenting on the GG #2 and SD #3 in the other grow room. These 2 are lagging behind the other plants in term of growth. So I added 1 ml of Sensi Grow ร…&B to a gallon of water and put a 1/2 gallon on each to see if that helps make them grow a bit faster (or puts them to an earlier demise). The TDS on the runoff for both was 1800 ish which is about double what I got for runoff with just water on the healthier plants in the tent. We shall see. WEEK 2 RECAP Overall I'm happy with the progress. I was able to start the LST a bit earlier than I had hoped. I'm really looking to see if I can get these babies growing wide and take full advantage of lights for more buds. Based on the early health of GG #1 and SD #1 I had an opportunity to TOP in hopes of increasing yield and it looks like it might just work. Looking forward to Week #3.

When I watered each of the plants with Ph balanced water only the runoffs for each plant were about 30% higher ppm than I put in on the previous watering with nutes (see numbers above). The plants look very healthy. Should I be concerned with this and if so why?

Iโ€™d be concerned with the strength of your feeds - the EC/PPM in general. Youโ€™re hovering around 1500 ppm which is a very strong feed, especially for autoflowers. I rarely go above 1000 PPM with photos. You are starting to see some signs of lockout on a few and one has some signs of N toxicity (SD2). Iโ€™d personally do a flush with reg water and run a solid gallon or two thru the bottom of each.. cut those feeds in half going forward. Advanced is so โ€œcomplexโ€ of a line up I donโ€™t know what to tell you to cut out of that regimen but Iโ€™d be feeding 650-800 max going forward unless thereโ€™s signs of deficiencies.

Before I watered plants today the Ph was 6.0 and 1,000 ppm. I added nutrient solution of 6.2 and 1,000 ppm to each plant until runoff. Runoffs were 1,300 to 1,700 range. Ph was 5.9. Is this in the ballpark. If I add 1,000 ppm to existing 1,000 ppm and get less is that right?

meter callibrated? what is error% or +/- accuracy of tool? pH dropping can be microbes. This depends a bit on how well buffered your nutrients are and even your tap water pH. (or whatever water source). You probably want to target a slightly higher pH with soil. It gives a bit more room for error on the low side. You drop a few tenths below 5.8-6.0 and you can lock out some nutes very quickly. you aren't adding 1000ppm to 1000ppm (false perception). You don't want it escalating way over 1000ppm in nearly all contexts. Some living soils or super soils may have a valid arguement, but in genearl you don't want your concentration of dissolved nutrients spiking or even gradually increasing over time will also cause major problems but further down the road before you see it. You want to maintain a safe and fertile concentration and ratio (balance) of nutrients. This is the point of runoff. get 10-15% runoff and it should avoid any buildup of concentration. This runoff should go down drain or thrown outside. Don't let it soak back in to pot. This will maintain your pH too -- assuming microbial issues are not causing a wild swing in pH. some evaporation occurs between irrigations. this increases "EC" or ppm of the water soaked into the soil. The excess runoff during irrigation will average everything back out and the higher concentrations are flushed out. What you add is significantly more than what moisture remains, so it safely returns it back to what you feed. your soil has nutes in it. This is why you don't see it running out at 1000ppm. The plant isn't clawing and it looks pretty late into flower. While i wouldn't make any drastic changes at this point in time, i'd be careful of those ppms rising too high. Watch for any hint of burnt tips or leaf symptoms. if they start to pop up, maybe give 1/2 dose for a couple fertilliations and make sure that runoff ppm drops a bit. other note -- runoff won't accurately tell you what is in the soil. it should probably be a bit higher, unless you get a ton of runoff, at which point it may be damn near what you feed if enough fertilied water runs through it. It's a good thing to check and will hint at an impending problem, but don't read it as "my soil is 1700ppm" because that's not what it is telling us. it is likely lower than what runoff is. watch for relative changes.. is it going up? down? staying the same is more often the target if all is going well. 1.5EC or 750ppm is probably a better target for future. Soil is more complicated than that since you have some nutes in it and slowly ramp up feeding as the plant eats up what is pre-built into soil. there are many factors involved with soil to consider. if you stick in this range and religious about runoff and not having any dry pockets of substrate after any irrigation, it's virtually impossible to run into any nutrient issues. if you irrigate with water only, a little less runoff is fine. be religious about teh 10% when you fertilize, but any water-only irrigation you just want to ensure there are no dry pockets. this requires some runoff to be sure. Unless your intention is to lower concentrations of nutrients in soil, of course.. extra runoff can quicly do that in case of toxicity.

I'm using Advanced Nutrients Flawless Finish to flush my Sour Diesel autos. I've read varying ideas as how best to use the product. Should I use it on my first flush only or continue to use it on all waterings up to harvest?

Advanced Nutrients recommends the following: Use 2 mL per Liter during the last week of the bloom phase. https://www.advancednutrients.com/products/flawless-finish/ I'd be inclined to use it the way they advertise it. But with all nutrient companies you can get away with half doses if its needed. Some people just flush with ph'd water vs using and flushing agent. Its all personal choice. Best of Luck and Happy Growing

My 2 Sour Diesel autos are at the 11 week mark. I've flushed them for one week now and they are getting lots of yellow leaves and the trichomes are getting milky. However there is hardly a trace of any amber trichomes. Do I wait for the amber? Am I being impatient?

Yeah impatient ๐Ÿ˜‚you're so close though, those buds have still got a bit of bulking up to do. I don't start flushing until I see all Cloudy and then harvest at 10-20%amber,it can take 1-3 weeks for Ambers to appear
