Time for plant number two, a feminized White Widow photoperiod! I had two failed germinations so tried the glass of water method for a change of pace and luckily had success. It is now in the root riot starter plugs and growing strong
Week 1 of veg saw some good leaves coming in. This seedling is growing pretty fast and outgrew the starter plug so moved it into a smaller container with fox far ocean forest soil. I plan to leave it under the T5 light for another week or so before moving it into the tent with LED lights.
- Week two of veg is coming along great. I had some browning edges on the initial leaves but realized I had ph a little too high. I have since adjusted that down and the newer leaves don't show any signs so we should be good on that front. Another two days under the T5 light and then I am moving it into the tent for the remainder of the grow.
This entry is a little behind because of the holidays but we're back at it. Moved from the T5 grow light to the grow tent and LED setup. I have the tent fans running on low for some light air circulation without blowing directly on the plant. Next week I am going to start plant training (going with a manifold technique this time so should be interesting).
Week 4 of veg and transplanted into the final 5gal fabric pot. For this grow, I am trying a main-lining method to see how that works versus the plain lst I did for my previous plant. I waited until there were about 6 nodes then topped down to the third and removed all the growth before that. Now to wait until some more growth and then I can start training the branches out!
For week 5, I topped back down to the third node on both branches. Then I removed the 2nd node on each branch, leaving the first and third. So in the end I will have eight main branches as it continues to grow. I could have done some more but I wanted to stop at eight since I have not tried this grow method before so wanted to make sure there was enough spacing and I could pay more attention to it. I adjusted the LST wire ties a little to keep both branches growing horizontally.
This week I have mostly been training the branches and watering when needed, not too exciting. Currently training the branches out to get more of the horizontal spacing before it starts growing higher. It recovered well from the defoliation last week so I'm pretty happy with the progress so far.
This week I checked every few days and adjusted my training wires to keep the branches growing horizontally. Once the space is a bit more filled out then I'll let it start growing upward! About four weeks in the soil passed so it was time to start feeding. Since Ocean Forest soil has so much in it, I like to wait a bit before adding extra nutrients. That way I avoid burning the plant, I am a little over cautious but hey it has worked for me so far. I added in the general hydroponics three part of gro, bloom, and micro, sticking with the general vegetation table of a bout 5ml each. I'll see how that does over the next week or so and adjust as needed.
Low and slow! The LST has been working well and I have been trying to fill out the tent a little more before I let it start growing higher. Mostly even canopy so far and she's growing nice and strong. I fed in my last water so this one and the next two will be just water with maybe some cal-mag plus.
Just vegging this week. I managed to fill the tent to where I wanted from side to side so now allowing it to grow taller. I will probably go for another week or so before transitioning to flower.
Week 1 of flower! Not much to see as I just flipped them to a 12/12 light schedule so still looks the same as the previous veg week. I just fed before so only water for a few waterings. Very excited
Week 2 of flower and they are definitely starting to transition. Small buds are starting to form at all the bud sites which makes me very happy. Next week I will be starting some defoliation on the bottom 1/3 of the plant for starters.
Week 3 of flower and baby's first haircut. I removed the bottom third of small leaves/branches. There is some better airflow now and easier to water is a plus. Every week until week 7 of flower, I'll be removing a small amount without going too much overboard. This has been a slower grow than my previous one but I am enjoying it and it has been easier to manage. Still exciting to look in every few days and see the buds developing!
Week 4 of flower! Every day one step closer to harvest but I love the slow pace. This week I defoliated a little more and started adding the floranectar sweet to my grow. The buds are starting to get some trichomes on the sugar leaves which is exciting to see! I couldn't get a great picture but the bud sites are connecting pretty well down the branch so they should be pretty big come harvest time!
I was off on vacation this week so had a friend ph and water for me. Unfortunately they did not grab many pictures so a rather light post. I did get two bud pics from them though so not all bad!
Week 6 in the books! The buds are looking more frosty but the trichomes are still pretty white so it'll be a while longer. However they are starting to fill out more so really excited to see the end product. One more week of defoliation and then I'll be done with that.
Week 7 in the bag. I defoliated for the last time this grow so now it is time to just wait and let them ripen. The trichomes are looking good with a few becoming a bit more cloudy.
Almost in the home stretch. The buds are getting pretty heavy and I had to put in some support sticks to keep them from falling over, great problem to have! It should hopefully be done in the next week or two. At this point I am just watering when dry and checking the trichomes with a jewelers loupe.
I had always read that White Widow was an old reliable strain and it's all true. I tried a main-lining manifold method with this grow that used quite a bit of training and defoliation and WW handled it really well. From start to finish it was an easy strain to work with and always recovered great when I was a little behind schedule. I am really excited to grow it again and even more excited to finish curing so I can try it out!!
