Incredible vigor in veg, strong lateral branching, impossible to stress, medium stretch in early bloom and a manageable final plant height. All characteristics I'm looking for. I have no idea how the flower will turn out, but just in case it's absolute fire, I took cuttings in week 3 (day 15) of bloom.
It took 7 days to produce roots with the cuttings dipped in Remo Roots gel and placed in distilled water pH 5.8. There were buds on the branches (which I should've removed right away) but picked off Dec 6
French Mac is coming back! Picked off the buds Dec 6 (way late, but whatever) and within 3 days the growth tips began getting larger. Lower fan leaves are dying off as the plant uses up the nutrients inside. Other fan leaves have a nice vibrant green colour and look ready for more light
Kept 2 of the 4 cuttings based on root growth and overall plant health. Transplanted into 4" pots on Dec 4. Coco was buffered with veg nutes @ 0.5 EC / 5.6 pH. 250ml waterings daily.
The incredible vigor of this strain is becoming undeniable. Top growth is going strong and roots have begun to leave the bottoms of the 4" pots. This is supposed to have all kinds of fuckin weird rounded leaves and disjointed growth (according to various threads online) but she looks totally normal at this point.
She's going like a champion and I'm seriously hoping her flower isn't shit potency or a fucked up smell or taste or something because the speed of the root development and veg growth is unreal.
Transplanted to 3 gallon Dec 12
Spoke too soon! I'm seeing the rounded leaves people talk about in re-veg. Kinda cool! They're both healthy looking plants and taking a mild fertilizer daily. Currently run-off is equal to inflow, 0.6 EC 5.6 pH
Transplanted into 3 gallon pots Dec 12, they should be ready for LST in a week or two. Very happy to have this strain alive and well. One of these two will stay in Veg for cloning.
I'm still absolutely blown away by the vigor of this one. She's the only one (in bloom) in the room right now that isn't even showing a hint of leaf tip burn. Just takes anything you throw at her. I'm sure if I run the EC a little higher with the clones, we'll start seeing some real magic. She's a keeper! And from a FREEBIE!! T.H. Seeds crushed it with this one. Have a look at my other diary to see her in bloom (FM2)
Grew tall enough to start LST over week 3. Haven't had time to take many pictures but here's a progress shot of both cuts. Clearly A is the more vigorous of the two so far, but both have roots starting to poke out the sides of the 3 gallons.
Update: Mid-week, plants EC and pH are still perfectly in range. Run-off is 0.1 lower than inflow, meaning the plants are feeding.
Consistent growth with "A", very slow growth with "B". I only need one to keep the line going so I'm 86'ing "B". Trying to time out the next cuttings to new seeds and have them all ready to flower at the same time.
Run-off numbers are consistent to the point where I'm only measuring 3 times a week.
Update: I've clipped the 1st growth node on each side branch. Lightly bending them down every day until they're long enough to stake. Hoping to keep the middle fairly open for airflow, as she will be in veg for most of her life.
Doing her thing. Taking daily waterings of 3L now. Debating on whether to keep her in a 3 gallon or transplant to a 10. She's basically not leaving veg, so I imagine the 3 gallon would suffocate her eventually.
Just tying down branches at this point. Did a light clean up at the bottom of the plant for airflow through the canopy. She's about 3' x 3' at this point.
Into Week 6 and bulking up nicely. Colas thick as soda cans and smell is getting more intense. Looks to be a lot more resinous than the run from seed, yield looks to be on par or better already. 3 1/2 weeks to go!
Clipped a lot of the long stemmed leaves off, from the bottom up. Will get the rest at the end of the week when I start flushing.
Update: Last day of week 8 (Mar 26). Still seeing some clear trichomes so it's gonna go the full 9. Very thick colas and a heavy aroma going on.
Took the last of the fan leaves off and started flushing. Will stop watering on day 61 and chop her on day 63. She's ready now but I want to see a few more amber trichomes before harvesting.
Last day before harvest! She got a big flush and will dry out for the last 12 hours of light and most of the night before I cut her down. Really glad there's another one of her ready to go in a few weeks. Keeper.
Update: Chopped at day 63.
This strain couldn't be easier or more forgiving to grow. Haven't seen nutrient burn, pests or stress of any kind, no matter what you throw at her. Clones super easy too. The yields are shocking with moderate fertilizing so next run I'll go a little stronger. I'll post dry weights with the smoke report in 4-5 weeks. This one's a keeper. Thanks for following along on this one! To the next! 🍻
